Got here around 10AM Saturday, park is already pack. We did counter clockwise and only saw 4-5 people on Summit Trail. Pretty awesome place.

HikingGreat!

Hiked 3/2. Trails have no ice or snow on them. Spikes were not needed. Highly recommended going on a clear day, the views of all the peaks were unreal.

Great!

Peaceful. Beautiful scenery, birds and other nature. Great view of bachelor, broken top, and the sisters. Pretty loop along the River.

Trails awesome as usual. I’ll never tire of the beauty of the Deschutes River. That being said, forest services need to maintain the roads to the trail heads and clean the bathrooms. Both are ridiculous.

This particular route didn’t end at a waterfall, but it was beautiful song the way.

HikingGreat!IcyMuddySnow

It was my first time visiting Smith Rock State Park. It was highly recommended by a friend. It did not disappoint!!! I absolutely loved it! Got there at noon. There were plenty of people starting the various trails. Some single, some in groups, some families. The hike up to Misery Ridge was busy. Most people wore masks and were courteous. The hike up the east side of Misery Ridge was steep with plenty of switchbacks the from .75 mile to 1.25 mile mark. The point from 1 mile to 1 1/4 mile was icy!!! There was a recent snow storm. The snow melted some with sunlight than froze overnight. People were scooting down on their butts! Glad that I bought and brought my microspikes! The westside descent of Misery Ridge to the Mesa Verde trail was incredibly icy! Even more so than the east side! People that started east to west turned around at this point because it was way to slippery. It was due to the westside not receiving enough sun to warm up the trail. I actually held the hand of a grown man almost the entire time down the westside trail while he slid down on his butt!! No Lie! Took Mesa trail to Summit Ridge trail. Summit trail up and over Summit Ridge was a bit of an exercise. I loved it! Great views! It took a longer than what would be normal time to complete this loop as I could not stop myself from stopping, taking in the beauty and taking plenty of pictures. This loop can be completed in a much shorter time. Will do this over and over again!

One of my favorites! Beautiful and not very crowded early. Yak traks needed in the winter.

Hiked 2/19/21. Micro spikes are an absolute must! I thought I had mine in my pack, turns out I did not. After barely making it up to monkey face, I was clinging to grass sliding down the trail on my butt trying not to slide straight off. Once you get about .7 miles in, the trail is covered in packed snow and ice. Even the river trail was covered in ice. It really is not safe unless you have spikes of some sort. The rest of the rocks were bare, so keep it in mind even if you don’t see any hints of snow or ice from the trailhead

Beautiful trail. Absolutely breathtaking. Ignore my map data. My app shut down intermittently and then I forgot to stop recording once in the car. Can’t win ‘em all. Hahaha!

Wonderful trail. The views on top of Misery Ridge are spectacular. The top of Summit Trail is pretty fantastic too. The climb up Misery Ridge is a work out for sure but the rest is pretty moderate. Watch out for loose rock on the trail
