Beautiful hike! We started on the Wolf Tree Trail side and would recommend going the other way down the River Trail. You have to go up no matter what, but can’t recommend the south full sun option. We sweated our way to the top and found the other side very mild.
Bring LOTS of water. Even in November it was needed. Gorgeous views and you can see a Golden Eagle nest from Wolf Tree trail.

I snowshoed this trail in march and it was so fun! Flat, and accessible. Some were mountain biking it.

Awesome trail, very busy, very doable for anyone. Easy trail and short enough to take your time. $5 parking fee.

Beautiful trail to the top. Quite the Climb though.

great views and nice loop

The trail was beautiful and the creeks were flowing fast. Lots to see! The lakes were peaceful and surrounded by snow dusted trees. The snow was just a dusting but the trail was very wet up top and some deep mud in places so watch your step! I would say this is an easy-moderate hike. This would be a good hike for families as there are flat spots in-between the switchbacks. The trail was closer to 6 miles. Great late fall hike!

**You will be on the old trail because the new one is under construction but it is well kept and meets right back up with the mapped trail.

What an awesome hike. Did some fishing also and we caught a trout and a salmon. Pretty easy hike for some beautiful views.

This place is incredible. I could spend a week checking it all out. Will definitely return, highly recommend! Came in the off-season (November 5) after visitor center closed for the year. We had the whole place to ourselves hiking to the top of the Butte.

Nothing spectacular, way too many tourists and cars. Super easy hike. Probably won't ever bother going back. Do it to cross it off your bucket list, but really it's nothing great.

This hike was incredibly beautiful. Watching all the rock climbers along the way is an added bonus. I highly recommend doing Misery Ridge, and know I will definitely do it again. There's pretty good elevation change and stairs, so I wouldn't do it if you have bad knees! Overall LOVED it.

I've hiked this trail twice so far. Both times I went clockwise and not the ccw most recommend. I prefer getting the elevation done the first day, camp around green lakes then hike the rest in the morning.

Went hear last November looking for hikes without snow in the bend area! This was was a great little hike in a canyon!

I really like this trail. Just the right amount of challenge and spectacular views!! It was a little brisk when we started. The wind picked up a little too. Definitely pack layers. You’ll see a sign saying “end of the trail” but there is another 2 1/2 miles of trail to explore. Gorgeous back there with some steeper inclines. Worth the extra time. Broken Top seems to be in reach when you go all the way back.

Great views at the top. Good reminder for us to get back in shape!

Today we visited 7/7 of the Oregon Wonders. Smith Rock was the final one and it did not disappoint. It reminded me a little bit of Zion - a mini version though. The hike was pleasant and easy up to the Misery Ridge. A couple of strenuous and steep switch backs take you to the top. The views on top are very rewarding. I totally recommend doing the river trail first and ascending the ridge from the back side. It’s shorter (but steeper) and faster. Also, your knees will thank the steps on the front side of the rock formation. Save some energy for the final incline to the parking lot. This one might be the most brutal one! Lol.

Great hike, really not hard tho. Took us 2hrs 30mins up, the first 5.5 miles are very easy and almost flat, from there on you hike up the ridge towards the lake, still very doable. The lake is gorgeous, just don't drink/swim, there is 5 elk carcasses in the water and 8 more on the ice.

We did this along with the Three Fingered Jack loop

Amazing day for a Fall hike! 70 degrees You could not ask for a better hike this time of year.

A top Cascades hike!

Wonderful hike. The trail is very well maintained. Took my 72 year old, fit friend, and 60 yo sister. Both handled the 1200+ feet elevation without a problem at a moderate pace. The view of the lakes is lovely. As seasoned hiker would find this hike easy and would be up in back in a few hours, we took 5 1/2.

Felt longer than 5 miles to me today but it was lovely
Beautiful views!

This was a terrific hike! We hiked counter-clockwise to get the ascent done first.
The hike was heavily trafficked on the day we were there.
Great views!

It's the closest trail to my house, so it's my go-to whenever I need my "nature fix".

Beautiful this time of year, just be careful in some spots where the dirt is pretty loose.

The end of the trail head has fantastic views and is one of the best spot to see the sunrise in the Bend. There is photo opportunities galore. The majority of the trail is not too windy, but the top has strong wind chill so bring layers if the temperature is low.

I did not extend the hike to Broken Hand, but will be making this hike next year with that plan in mind.

Loved this train. With amazing views and reaching the lakes and then back. All in one and yet not do difficult.

This trail was amazing! So much diversity in the scenery. The wind was STRONG and cold when we went. The views were incredible. With two bad knees I felt challenged but not beyond my scope. You can take the "unmaintained" portion pretty much straight to Broken Top if you push a bit further. completely worth it. WOW.
