A nice moderate hike with great views at the top! A decent elevation gain and dense forest to hike through.

This was my first time on this trail. I went counter clockwise around the lake loop - I think that’s best because the trail down to the lake via that route is pretty steep and rough, I think it would be challenging going up that way. Then again it would be quite a treat to see the views after coming up that way!

I’m glad I had full ankle high boots on for the lake loop portion - trail shoes would have been fine for the rest

Beautiful and pretty steep hike up. You can camp, but no fires so I'd recommend if you want to that you do it in the warmer months.

A nice hike that encompasses the two best views in the Chuckanut mountains. I give it 3 stars because I would much rather go to Baker for hiking, but this is a great alternative during the winter months. The Blanchard mountain trails are beautifully maintained with clear signage. This hike is definitely NOT Easy, it should be at least a Moderate.

Beautiful walk, but the end is very anticlimactic.

Nice and long. Pretty steep and an amazing view on top. Just not that much to look at besides trees and a couple of streams on your way up

Took my dog to the main lookout today. Gorgeous views and sunset. Started the trail from Chuckanut Dr at 1:44 PM and back to the car at 5:20PM. I started little too late. It got so dark the last mile before the car. But I used my phone flashlight almost to the car before totally out of battery. 8 miles roundtrip with 1900 ft elevation gain. My little pup American Bully was such a trooper

Great trail! So many beautiful sites. Great workout but, not too hard. Be sure to take the small off trails to the overlook and waterfall on the backside of the lake.

One of my favorite hikes in the area! Beautiful, well maintained trail with a sweet, woodsy fragrance that's impossible to describe. Linger at the lake for a swim & packed lunch.
Will be a little challenging for new hikers but on the easy side for stronger ones.

Be prepared to climb up hill a lot! The view on top was amazing. If you’ve never been here bring a camera or phone to capture the moment. It has some distance to it as well so be realistic with your abilities before trying this hike. I loved every minute of it and would recommend this hike to anyone reading.

Quick but invigorating 2-hour hike with lots of Fall color on this late October day. Be sure to take the .2 mile hop out to the view point overlooking Bellingham Bay and the San Juan islands, and the .75 mile loop around the little lake. (This makes for a total distance 5 miles, up and back to the parking lot.) Enjoy a handful of pretty spots on the lake edge for snacks and the pretty view. A classic Bellingham hike with easy-moderate difficulty.

Hiked on Saturday 21s of Oct. Weather was perfect and hike was very colorful with fall foliage.

Lake was very pretty, with loop around entire lake. We were graced why the presence of a bald eagle in a tree on the west side of the lake, too.

Trail is in perfect condition. If you haven’t hiked the trail, you find the trail head in the Larrabee State Park lot, on the East side of Chuckanut drive, just south of the Larrabee State Park Campground. Even on a Saturday, the trail wasn’t heavily used. A few mountain bikers, possibly 6 other groups of hikers. .

Great hike. Easy overall with a great view! Super good for dogs!

I love hitting this trail with my dogs. Gorgeous Autumn color painted the forests. Blue waters mirror the sky. It’s heaven for me

The lake was beautiful and echoey, also the mushrooms were cool

Walk this weekly Beautiful

Great workout, prepare to climb, climb, climb! I love this one for the ease of accessibility and crowds. I would definitely feel safe hiking this one alone and it’s also a great hike to bring out of town visitors on as it’s challenging and yet still doable, and has great payoff with beautiful views.

This is a great place to bring the kids. The trail is flat and wide and runs along the water front. Don't forget to bring your suit and a towel on a hot day, you'll be glad you did.

Love this hike, definitely a climb but so worth the view. Got up early and did it at sunrise, there was still a layer of fog on the water and the ship-man it made for a beautiful hike. It’s a challenge but a goody. Parking is limited so I recommend getting there early!

Nice hike to a nice lake that’s perfect for swimming!

Relatively flat and easy for trail running. Great for beginners and those who just want to take it easy. Awesome views and lots of spots for cooling off after running in the heat!

great training hike.
From Chuckanut it is much more difficult than from the upper parking lot or from the parking lot at barrel springs road.
great view from the top.

Several years ago this was a nice and quiet trail if you wanted to go on a stroll, now it’s so overpopulated.

moderate 2.2 miles up with a few spots to swim. water is warm. mosquitos are out. if you find a gray lululemon ballcap, you can keep it :)

very easy, but slightly steep going up. bring your bathing suits...saw many people enjoying the lake.

Car got broken into at the trailhead camping for one night. Good one night backpacking trip but not worth it if your car is gonna get broken into.

BEWARE!!! I parked for an hour and three minutes this afternoon and my window was busted when I got back to my car. Going to cost me hundreds of dollars for a shitty hike.

It was a nice little hike to and around the lake. My teenage daughter even enjoyed it, and had no problem keeping up.

Great hike. Way more of a challenge than we assumed. Should be ranked moderate not easy. Especially if you do the whole loop with the oyster dome view and carry a 25lb baby carrier. Steep in places and long. My tracker said 9.5 miles my husbands said 10. Beautiful nonetheless.
