Most of the route are with shades. A easy/moderate. The path going down to the fall is a little narrow without fences. So be aware of it.

Hikes for all tastes and ages: you can walk around a small pond, around a larger lake, or go all the way to a top of the hill to the south.

Super chill loop around Lake Hollywood. The fencing around the lake are not appealing but the views when you get to the bridge are nice. Cool to see the Hollywood sign with a lake in front of it. As easy as it gets so fun to take anyone along.

it's a nice long trek. it isn't really that hard just long.

Phone read 4.00 miles in 1:00:40 with 596 ft elevation gain, and I hung out at the falls for 10-15 minutes. Extremely mild hike other than a couple water crossings and a “steep” section near the falls. Falls were great a couple days after a hard rain.

My favorite local trail! Beautiful view and mostly shaded.

It’s easy and a very fun trail.

This is a very popular and scenic stroll around the "big" island as well as the "little" island that make up Balboa Island, all with views of the harbor and sand on one side, with boats and paddle boarders and other things to watch, and the homes on the other. In the summer, and on vacation weekends, it can be very crowded and only good for strolling, but lots of fun nevertheless. But on the off season or early mornings it is good for some beautiful power walking or running.

Rode our bikes on this trail to the beach a few years ago took a toll on our butts but worth it

Trail is heavily utilized and well-maintained. Park Rangers were actually on the trail in a truck during the venture.
The overwhelming odor of horse droppings all along the trail make this trail a "2!"
The iconic sign is worthy of some pics, but since it's a 6 mile journey out and back, best to prepare for the odor.
Wouldn't traverse again.

Done this one several times. Though it's best in late winter and spring because the water flow is stronger, it also makes for a greatsummer hie because it is 80 percent shaded and mostly easy climbing, when there is climbing. There is a section in he middle that gets a little steep, with some cliff exposure, but it is short. If you or your children are afraid of heights, you may want to avoid this one.

Very ugly view. All you are looking at for the most part is barb wire....not inspiring. If you want to walk on sand and stare at barb wire in direct heat, this trail is for you.

Great hike with wonderful views of DTLA.
Hollywood sign right there to take it all in.
First couple of miles will have you huffing and puffing as it’s a pretty steep incline.
After that you’ll be treated to the views on your way to the sign.
Enjoy!

Good short walk with a few different areas to see. I particularly love a small pond filled with koi, ducks and turtles. There is a larger lake as well. Great hike overall, now a normal spot for me.

P.S.
If you go to the small pond there is a goose/duck there that looks like a cross between a vulture and duck. Its name is Duckasaurus. Say hi if you get the chance!

Easy hike with plenty of people on a November Sunday late afternoon. Dry creekbed.

Good quick hike, awesome pond

Great for a short hike not to hard, but little water coming down the falls.

The waterfall is minuscule this time of year. The trail offers a lot of shade and is moderately challenging. Some parts of the trail was super narrow. You need an adventure pass to park. If you get carsick easily, beware. The road is quite windy to get to the trailhead.

Nice walk. Saw many birds. Went on Sunday and there was a ranger on premise.

Nice hike with friends. Saw a couple deer and a few turtles

Great area and very pretty with some Fall colors. Popular place with lots of people. Sadly many don't know trail ettitquette, but we were impressed that there wasn't much (any) trash or grafitti for the amount of traffic. To get to the falls go past it, take the left fork to the creek and go left along the creek. Or take the right at the creek to go to Bear Canyon.

A peaceful Sunday morning hike through a colorful, boulder-strewn canyon. Lots of woodpeckers to keep us entertained! A bit of fall color on the way to the waterfall, which is very zen-like: a small trickle flowing into a reflective pool. It’s shady much of the way, so being a light jacket is you’re hiking in the morning.

Great hike! We ended up going all the way over to the bear canyon camp ground and back! Great views and good walking trails.

Tips: bring a map and not your bicycle! There is no service anywhere and you will have to carry your bike....

Definitely a walking trail that has many turns anf will make you want to sprint to see what’s at the end of the path. You can see the Hollywood sign, but unfortunately the trail doesn’t lead to it.

It is a little unkept and wild, but it was remote and not crowded which was nice and really rare for Los Angeles area. I would do it again, maybe in hiking boots.

Miles:5.2
Elevation:750ft
Duration: 2-3 hours
Level:easy -moderate
Dogs allowed on leash
Please bring your adventure pass to park.

When you arrive to the Switzer falls sign off the highway you will see a small road near the bathrooms. Go down that small road! There is plenty of parking down at the bottom. Start at the picnic tables. You have chances for a nice clean bathroom down at the bottom when your starting your hike. Cross the bridge and start down the paved road. The road ends about 1mile in but this trail is well marked and is very easy to follow.

This is a great hike to take your kids 6 and up. The views are beautiful. There are plenty of water crossings which makes it fun for the kids.
Your in shade about 80% of the trail but there is a small part with full exposer. We had people bring trekking Poles for the water crossings. There isn’t a lot of water there right now but enough to enjoy the views. When you get to the park where there is no shade “scream Hello!” As loud as you can and you can hear your echos bounce off the mountains! That was fun! When you get down to the bottom of your switch backs there’s shade again and your almost to the waterfall.

The waterfall doesn’t have much water in it but it’s still beautiful.

It was fun! Over all a perfect sized hike for us with dogs and kids!

Have fun! stay safe! Keep your dogs on a leash! Bring enough water and snacks, and leave no trace of trash!

Easy trail to follow along. Make sure head down(left) when you get to the fork. I personally found it on the easier die but the sun is draining on a hot summer day. Not many people on the trail when I went but the heat help keep people home. Snuck up on a deer grazing on some plants on the trail. Not a lot of water in September so don't expect much when you get to the falls.

Basically a flat walk on a paved utility road. But - pretty mountain and lake scenery, nice vibe. Good walk for single females wanting to be safe, there are plenty of people around, including park rangers. There is an additional trail to the east that branches off near the southern end of the lake and goes up to Mulholland Drive if you want more of a workout.

Very nice moderate trail, very shady except for the uphill part. One of my favorites for sure.
