Went for a quick little hike here with my fiancé today. The trailhead was a little difficult to find even with using the AllTrails directions. If attempting this hike in the winter, do not go into the main entrance of Grafton State Park. Instead enter from N Long Pond Rd from Rt. 2. There was a decent amount of snow on the ground and even though it is all gravel road it was well plowed and drive-able even in my Chevy Cruze. The trail itself was packed snow with a couple ice patches that were easily maneuvered with micro spikes. The hike was pretty easy and is mostly flat with a few gradual climbs, be cautious about half way in during ascent there is a large ice patch. The day was a perfect mix of party cloudy/sunny and we were able to climb to the top of the Firetower which was super windy at the top! We were offered a 360 view of all of the mountain ranges in the area! Definitely will come back and try it out in the summer.

Great quick hike beautiful waterfall. There was a dusting of snow there today

If you are climbing this in the winter you will not be able to park at the trailhead. Plan on parking .5 miles before the trailhead at the snowplow turnaround. Microspikes were helpful in some sections of the trail, and useless in others. Overall a good hike. Beware of ice on the tower if you decide to climb it. The summit is very well maintained!!

We walked this trail Christmas Day. The weather was mild and sunny making this trail a pleasure even with the inch of snow on the ground. The walk was not strenuous. The lake was frozen which made walking across part of it unique an extra scenic. We did not go up to the tower and also went of the trail somewhat to our liking. We’d definitely do this trail again in the spring.

Great hike. Dec 9,2018 had no snow but some icy sections and the leaves on the lower section up to and a little past the falls were treacherous (especially when mixed with black ice below). The 1st .8 miles is pretty steep. The upper section gentle. The falls in winter were nice, must be amazing in spring. Saw only 2 other people. Took 3 hours with a lot of picture taking, some snacks and a VERY slow descent on the icy leaves. Much slower than going up.

Truly a breathtaking piece of paradise. A place with so many hidden gems even away from the main parts of the park. Must visit for any outdoor lover !

Nice trail
Did the loop but we weren't prepared to
Jump the stream 8 times
The first leap was the most difficult
But what a nice view

A lovely hike with the rock scramble made a bit more challenging by the snow and ice. I think that area also makes it difficult for dogs.

Stunning. Hiked it in the snow and although that made it cold and wet it was still awesome.

Did this one as part of the Catskill Firetower Challenge. The biggest challenge is perhaps just making it to the trailhead as it’s rather remotely located. The hike was a very quick jaunt to the top to see the observers cabin, luxury outhouse and of course the tower. The views were good from the tower.

Super scenic! Easy reverse hike (downhill first). Pretty sure it’s only 1 mile total.

Definitely on the harder side of moderate, and especially dangerous with loose leaves everywhere. Don't underestimate the section by the waterfall. Can get quite wet in spots. Trail markings aren't consistently placed and we had to backtrack a couple times. Thankfully there weren't any snakes.

This is a beautifully rugged trail. The waterfall was much cooler in person, but it's been raining so it was really flowing. A good collection of views. The summit is unique and gorgeous. Definitely check out Bash Bish falls while you're here, it's close by and worth a visit. As of 11/4/18 the leaves are mostly past peak but it wasn't too bare.

Trail is well marked, pretty steep climb in spots. Great views of the Catskills.

Pretty straight forward, crowded however in summer with a lot of of bathers in the falls! Fun for kids.

I chuckled at the sign warning about the steep grade and difficult ascent, but it was well deserved! What a nice hike. I came across parasailers at the peak who were launching out. Beautiful views with the leaves starting to change

The trail itself is lovely. However, the trail map, as of September 29, 2018, is way inaccurate in parts. Follow the trail markers instead of this map.

It was a nice trek while camping in copake falls

Easy trail, more of a walk than a hike. Not much of an elevation gain at all, any age can do this. Beautiful views at the top of the tower. Informative signs listed along the trail providing details about the history of fire towers which was interesting. The trail is marked well with markers that are a picture of a fire tower. A little confusing finding the start of the trail, pay close attention to the map to find where to park. The trail is surrounded by lakes that you can walk around after which are nice as well. Took at most 2 hours to complete.

Nice easy hike to a pretty view of Lake George. Partially obstructed views but still worth the climb. After hiking to the View we went back down and looped around to the falls which was very pretty. The kids (ages 5, 6, 8, 9) loved it. We took a short cut to the falls so the total hike was about 5 miles instead of 6.3.

Great short hike from New York side. Impressive Falls.

Well used trail around Falls and to Lake George. Nice for kids.

The gorge and 3 waterfalls are spectacular features of this trail. The trail however is often too close to the main park road and not well marked especially in those spots where you need guidance.

The rating for the hike is appropriate. It gets a little steep at points so just be prepared. Make sure you have the appropriate foot wear with good grip. There were a decent amount of shaded areas a well as non shaded towards the top. Overall it was a great day outdoors.

great trail, excellent for the kids. it was a hot day so the water felt great.

I did the falls and then kept going to walk along the lake. Falls and Lake George were very pretty and it was a easy relaxing one with the kids. I went on a Tuesday morning so it was pretty quiet, sounds like it might get busier on weekends. Would like to come back and do the mountain when I have more time.

The waterfall was dry ( sept 2 2018). Like others have said, the trail is not well marked in some places and is a bit of a bushwack.

Overall, awesome rock scramble. The way back down was difficult.

Great views and the waterfall is breathe taking!

not marked well in places but fun! Very tough definitely hard.
