It gets harder to keep up your energy at the end but it’s definitely worth it.

This is my favorite trail from back home to solo hike! Trails are really nicely done and the hills definitely make sure you’re working hard the entire time. If you have the energy, I would recommend hiking up to the Black Mountain Peak for really great views and a different sort of terrain!

Great place to bring your pup! Fun running in the dunes - great views

This hike will easily separate the mountain goats from the average hiker. Expect to finish in 4-5 hours if you are average. I smoked this bad boy in sub 3 hours including all my small breaks. Not the prettiest hike in the world but it’s a great workout if you get after it! Make sure you have decent grip on your shoes... I went clockwise and really glad I did. It will start off steep and have lots of loose rocks. Some parts were pretty tricky to get down (for me at least) because it was so steep and my shoes didn’t have the best traction. Once you make it up to the top it’s a pretty smooth and easy way back if you go clockwise. Holla at ya boy if you get sub 3 hours on this one!

This trail is great for running and hiking. It took me just over 3 hours to complete, and it was well worth it. Well maintained trails in beautiful forests and redwood groves in the lower loop, and more challenging rocky terrain with beautiful views in the upper loop. Bring plenty of water and download the map ahead of time!

the first one mile is mostly exposed so are first two miles of the return loop. the hard parts are all in the first half of loop. once you reach the top power transmission tower then it's all downhill and you can enjoy the view. if you have enough strength then it's worthy to continue to black mountain tower for 4 more miles round trip.

This is more of a dog park than a trail. Great if you like dogs. To be avoided if you don’t like dogs or are running.

It is longer than 12. Great hike overall. For the big ballers. Soreness is a virtue

gorgeous views. lots of sand and dogs

Super when it's not foggy or windy. Woof!

Beautiful hike for the ready and capable. Not a hike for everyone as seen by the hard eating. A nice thing to know is there are water faucets at the top to refill backpacks or bottles.

♥️♥️♥️

It was a good challenging with a rewarding view at the summit. Some of the roads are rocky, narrow and easy to lose your footstep. Definitely recommend start out clockwise loop because at the end it will all be flat and easy fire roads for your tired legs. We took our time and enjoyed the scenery of rolling hills and mountains. My phone said 14.6 miles total because we climbed up to the summit. There was ice creams (cone and sandwich) at the visitor center for your cold sweet fix. Overall, this is a very nice trail! Prepare to spend quite a bit of time conquering it. No less than 4 hours unless you’re extremely competitive ;)!

It is a decent trail and is easy to moderate. I started at 3 PM and hardly found anyone on track as compared to morning counterpart. Initial trail has buzz of electrical lines which is distracting to an extent but the ascent keeps you occupied. There isn't any scenic view apart from the valley view which points where the concrete jungle is. Path is well marked and in between you get patches of trees which is a real solace in hot sun. After first 4 miles with the elevation gain of 1.7k feet, it is normal decent back to start point.

all time favorite ..good incline and fully shaded .

Beautiful views of the Pacific, but too many dogs off leash to be a favorite for me.

Great hike. I extended it by a few miles to summit Black Mountain and really enjoyed it. It was about 18 miles with that added. I did it clockwise, which was better for me to do the steepest part first and then have most of the flat towards the end. My favorite part was heading up towards Black Mtn along the ridge. Very nice views!

Awesome 1st 4 mi hike, cake after

Pretty views but don't hike this in summer/dry season unless you want to be a bug buffet

BEST dog park in the Bay!

Nice shade throughout. Beautiful change in climate and landscape between Sanborn and Castle Rock. Very hard hike but one of my favorites. Exhausted at the end of it.

Like being in the Sierra’s in our back yard.

It’s a very nice trail, but extremely tough if you don’t hike more that 5 miles. On my GPS it actually ended up being 14 miles because we did climb to the summit. If you are and experienced hiker go for it, for people like that I’m not in terrible shape but also don’t run marathons it was really tough!

Very fun trail, a lot to see, especially the hang gliders. Not strenuous, good for a walk in most weather.

Love Purisma Creek. Majestic redwood gulches

Yet to see a hang glider land

Definitely a moderate to hard trail, more on the hard side given the elevation and distance . The entire loop is exactly 9.9miles (starting and ending at the entrance parking lot ) and we hiked it clockwise. The climb to the top is ~4.5 miles and elevation gain is around 400ft/mile and is a great workout (going Counterclockwise results in a relatively shallow climb but a steep descent which is very hard on the knees). Great Panoramic Views of the valley provide some respite in the climb. Bring lots of water. Overall, a great workout and an enjoyable hike

Surprisingly nice trail for a quick walk after work. Some decent elevation gain (especially towards the top going anti-clockwise) and good views.

I went in the evening and found anti-clockwise worked well - singletrack half of the way up and the majority in shade. Sections did have sun in the eyes so sunglasses recommended.

Nice hike with many butterflies, birds. Went left at Deer Flat down Meridian Ridge to Bald ridge to North Peak to Summit. Looped down Juniper trail and back to Mitchell Canyon. very enjoyable day.

This hike should be categorized as hard due to the length and the elevation. It was quite difficult doing the full loop, but completely worth it. Absolutely gorgeous.
