Hunter Creek Trail is not a loop! The actual Hunter Creek Trail is out and back. In order to make a loop you turn off to multiple other trails and even include hiking on paved road. Silly to call this hike a loop. The actual Hunter Creek Trail is worth hiking..beautiful rushing stream..rocky, inclined hike.

This is a beautiful Trail but it does intermingle with various mountain biking trails. I hiked up the mountain in the signage going up is very poor without a GPS you'll likely not to stay on the trail. Coming down you can obviously see where the trail goes. So many of the trails intermingle here that it's hard to stay on just one. There is a Sierra loop trail that is very well-covered and green and lush. There are other parts of the trail where you're simply walking on a forest service road.this would be an amazing sun ride or sun set hike. we started hiking it at 7 in the morning and only saw one other person hiking the same Trail. At 9am the downhill mountain bikers began and they littered the mountain.

Very nice trail along the creek and waterfalls. Not too difficult or crowded on a Thursday. Went around 5 miles round trip in 2+ hours.

Awesome trail through every aspect of a mountain! Aspen groves, forest, meadows, rock slides. Hiked from the Maroon Bells down beside the Maroon Creek, took less than 1.5 hours. Beautiful!

Best views are at the front half of the hike. The creek at the end is great for little kids. Mostly open.

Absolutely beautiful hike. It’s fairly moderate and rolling for the first two thirds, then an uphill climb. If you reach what seems like a fork, take the trial that leads away from the river. It’s quiet, somewhat shaded, and so peaceful. Would definitely do again. Trail ends at the bridge.

Moderate, shirt hike with beautiful vistas! Would recommend!

The first part of the hike was shaded but then after a while it got pretty hot. Also at the end we had some trouble finding the trail. Over all we thought the hike was fun for our family.

This trail is a well kept secret. the trail itself gets pretty narrow, but on the way up you'll pass several interesting areas, like the water treatment facility and abandon mine cart tracks. The hike itself was fairly leisurely and I enjoyed the views. Looking forward to doing this one again in autumn!

awesome single track

Greatest trail in Snowmass. Start at Vista trail to gondola and then stay to right and pick up Sierra Club Loop to Summit trail. Beautiful views, moose, creek and the most comfortable trail to walk on (almost like a carpet inside the tree path). The summit’s views of maroon bells is breathtaking. Take the chair lift down to the Gondola, have lunch and then take gondola down and all for free!!!!!! (Except lunch of course!)
Your knees and hips will be happy!!!!!!

Very nice hike.

Gorgeous views from the top! The trail doesn’t have a finite ending but the views at the top are stunning! There is a steeper more direct path that goes to the same place at the top but this trail is a winding road going up. We saw lots of wildflowers, a bunny, and some chipmunks on the trail.

Hiked a little over 8 miles round trip. Starts on gravel road past the house. Once you get to the big bridge about four miles up I recommend turning back, unless you just want to hike longer. There is no real end to the hike from what I gather going so far and other reviews. We went a ways past the waterfall/bridge and it’s a pretty steep incline. It’s a pretty trail and places to stop along the river. The trail is a little overgrown in areas, but we wore shorts since it was July and were fine. You’re in the shade a lot.

Very nice hike. Would recommend taking the trail as opposed to the road. The trail is pretty steep but enhances the experience! Great views at the top.

Excellent hike. We did it clockwise in the afternoon, which was great because the first part is then in the shade, and you can see the sunset from the road on the way down. Recommended!

This trail was beautiful, but very poorly maintained. Almost the entire trail has been overgrown, and by the end of the hike, our legs and arms were itchy and scratched. Some parts were so covered in brush, we could barely see our feet. There were also no signs or indication that the trail ended. We hiked a few miles longer without realizing until we checked our Fitbits.

Hiked up to Maroon Bells, it’s a nice gradual incline and goes through some aspens so there is some nice shaded areas. It’s also follows Maroon creek which is nice to hear while hiking. There are some areas that you go through rocky pastures, it was an excellent hike that I would do again!

Really cool trail. Pretty views and the road is easy to walk along. Saw enough people to not feel desolate but few enough to feel peaceful. Watch for mountain bikers!

The trail is the summer road for trucks up the mountain. It isn’t as steep as the Ute trail or other trails up, but we didn’t get a lot of shade and felt challenging for us novices as most of it is at 15-30% grade except for a somewhat flat portion for 0.5 miles or so. The nice part is the gondola ride down is free, and dogs are allowed (we brought our 8 month old German Shepard puppy who didn’t seem to have an issue).

This trail was GARBAGE! Primarily because it WAS NOT a trail. I would give this 0 stars if I could. Not kid safe, not dog safe, not people safe. No sidewalk on a windy uphill road. Terrible experience.

Nice trail; nice views; long climbs. Last part was kinda weak, walked a long ways down a road.

Lovely trail, shaded for most but narrow and a lot of brush. The waterfalls are beautiful and most of the walk is along the water with a cool mist. I’m not sure I’d rush back to do again but I did enjoy.

The trail is poorly marked and has regular traffic. Lovely views up and down- a good up hill work out.

Enjoying a gorgeous early summer hike with my Mountain Buddy!! Life is good!
