HikingGreat!IcySnow

Awesome day out there yesterday! 21degrees and super sunny! Still a cold breeze but I did the whole trail up with just my hiking boots and was fine. However, I had my spikes for the way back which was definitely ideal. Saw some guys walking in sneakers and they were sliding all over the place! Bring sunglasses, spikes, lots of water! The snow on the mountains is a spectacle and everyone should get to see the amazing view at the barrier lookout and at the lake! LOTS OF SNOW STILL! I would say at least 5/6th of the trail is snow so keep that in mind.

HikingGreat!

It is a moderate hike, not “hard” as it says on AllTrail. The uphill switch backs on service road in the first 2 km feel unrelenting but the remaining 4 km is all flat. No bugs this time of the year and it wasn’t muddy at all after a week of sunshine. The view was amazing from the lookout. I parked my car at the paid car park at the foot of the sunset trail - was so lucky to get the last spot after arriving at 10.30 AM on a Tuesday morning. There were 2 empty spots by the time I got back around 2.45

9 am start from Rubble to the lake. You’ll be fine with crampons, yaktraks or mircospikes (needed after the first 3km). The trail to the lake is perfectly fine, but the little connector trail up from the lake to Taylor Meadows / Outhouse Junction (or anything past that) is very hard to see. Had to make our own trail / follow very misleading footsteps. We went from the lake up to Taylor and back down, took 6 hours. The meadows are so snowed in its hard to get through unless youve got snowshoes or skiis. If you’re just going to the lake you’re good though. The heat is a lot so bring water and sunglasses so you dont go snow blind. Happy hiking ! (April 19/21)

HikingGreat!

A good hike close to the city, a good work out for the 1st 2km of the trail and later on just a flat route. Overall, a great hike with beautiful views. Parking is definitely the problem here, as Lions Bay doesn’t have more space. One should go early to get the parking, otherwise you might be ticketed/towed.

still snow packed on the trail. avalanche warnings past the lake. had to stop halfway through because of a fresh avalanche! would recommend waiting a few weeks before trying this trail unless you're just walking around the lake and turning back.

We did this trail on April 17 and it was really nice. Weather was warm and sunny! Trail was a bit icy and muddy in spots but not bad. We got there at around 9:30am and there was lots of parking. Trail was pretty busy, lots of mountain bikers and trail runners.

Beautiful view! Went out on the 17th. It was definitely muddy and icy still on some parts. Warm and sunny in the open areas. The lake is still frozen at this time.

Hiked up to Little Beehive on Saturday Apr 17. The trail up until the fork to Lake Agnes was well packed and a bit slippery, but no problem with crampons. We saw many people doing it in sneakers with no crampons and they were slipping, but made it. Once we branched off the trail to head up to Little Beehive, the packed part of the trail narrowed significantly, in some cases to less than 12" wide. And it did not look any different visually from the non-packed snow on either side of it. So some of our steps ended up hip deep and we had to pull ourselves out. We had to stop about 150m short of the actual peak because there was no more packed trail. With snowshoes it would have been easy. But the views were totally worth it. Majestic mountains all around, and distant views down the Bow River Valley. A few slightly steep sections, but nothing crazy. Definitely recommend the short jaunt up to Lake Agnes after visiting the Little Beehive. As spring progesses, the packed portion of the trail is going to become more and more unpacked as the snow underneath it softens up.

Icy in spots so wear microspikes or be careful! Also super muddy too. But really pretty!

Amazing trail and beautiful lakes. I’d probably rate this as moderate though due to up and down hills and muddy conditions. I used my poles and it wasn’t too bad. Totally worth a visit. Parking lot is huge.

Spectacular view of Howe Sound from Tunnel Bluffs lookout rewarding a 1.5-hour hike up from Tunnel Point car park on Sea-to-Sky. I noticed on my return that this parking lot had a 30 minute limit with threat of towing. Trail up this way was lightly used (we only came across three other groups) but was busy at the top viewing point. Hike back down almost took the same amount of time

Just spent two nights (April 12-14) at the lake hiking in from the Rubble Creek trailhead. The trail condition from about 1.5km all the way to the 6km junction is an ice rink. Spikes pretty much mandatory. Although I passed a few people without them so I guess it’s possible but I would highly advise bringing spikes. From the 6km junction ice gives way to snow which is much easier to walk on although I kept my spikes on through to the lake. Trail is well plowed so unless you wanted to go off the beaten path you won’t need snowshoes. If you plan to camp you’ll need a shovel to dig out a camping spot, or if you’re solo I dug out an area for a one man tent just above shelter two. All “official” camping spots are under several feet of snow.

Lovely scenery with a spring (icy and muddy) trail. Added a good hour to the hike.

We went April 10-11, the conditions were so prime. I hiked up with just spikes on. We got to the lake, ate lunch and then continued to do a day trek to mount price which was another 6 hours to/from our campsite at the lake. There is no running water at the lake, the last time you’ll see running water is around the 2/3km area so fill up there. The trail is easy but only do it if you’re prepared, it’s warm in the sun but you’ll cool down pretty quick when not moving
