From the hike yesterday- Falls were nice, but it was extremely crowded. The ink pots are worth the side trip. The smoke has cleared up quite a bit which allowed for good views at the ink pots site.

Nice little hike. We ended up having to change all of our hiking plans due to the really severe smoke from the BC wildfires. We chose this hike because it was along the river which was one of the only natural features we could see and enjoy in this particular day with how thick the smoke was, and also because it had no significant elevation (again because of the smoke). The Hoodoos are pretty sad if you’ve been to the badlands before, but it was interesting to see in a sort of unexpected location. Overall this hike was very pleasant and easy if you’re looking for something in town or don’t feel like slogging up a mountain.

Trail closed for maintenance, August 7-30. Barricaded at the trail head, don't attempt.

We really liked this hike, but it’s mostly through the forest. Breaking out through the forest at the top is amazing, and there were a ton of pika- which are adorable.
We spent some time in the amphitheater watching the pika while we had lunch- they’re the reason I selected this trail. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a challenge - it’s a long climb uphill.

This trail is tough, but worth it. It took us 7 hours to complete, which is long for us. We lost most of our time on the climb up- which is steep!! Once you get through that, it’s much easier. The scrambles weren’t bad- just watch your footing. Overall, the hike was gorgeous- it seemed that each section of the trail offered something different. Bring an extra layer- the top of Cory Pass was windy and chilly. Poles will also help to navigate through the scree and the boulders.

Pretty amazing experience, even with the severely diminished views due to the smoke. Pay close attention to which trails you take up to the summit, some get very hairy very fast. A couple who turned back ahead of me stated that they got charged by a bear, and while I didn't see anything, bear spray and a big group would be very helpful!

It’s totally worth it to go all the way to the Ink Pots. They were so beautiful and fascination, as was the nearby river. As with most trails in Banff, it pays to get there EARLY!! We were there by 7am and had the trail to ourselves and more importantly got parking. When we passed the falls on the way out are around 10:30am it was a parking lot of tourists with a line to even get on the walkway to see the upper falls. It was worse than the mall at Christmas and parking lots were completely full.

As someone who has hiked in New Zealand, Patagonia, Peru and more, this hike was disappointing. It’s all uphill with the excitement being the lake 5 miles in. Good workout but not very rewarding.

Beautiful. However, the cave, which was my #1 must see, was closed to endangered nesting birds.

Must go early to avoid the mass amounts of tourists at Johnston Canyon! Easy track overall.

Its hard to capture the beauty of this place with pictures

Fairly easy hike, good for stretching the legs and getting some air, perfect for a smokey day. Lots of people! Recommend very early morning or very late in the evening to avoid the crowds. Views from the ink pots are nice. Wouldn't recommend this if the weather is good, spend the day elsewhere.

Nice easy trail. very few people past upper Falls on the way to the ink pots.

A steel climb capped off by some amazing 360° views of the surrounding area. The hike has a good variety of terrain - from wooded forest to mountain top Alpine. The top of the hike gets a bit steep and rocky which makes it a but slippery, so make sure you bring good hiking boots.

Pleasant hike. waterfalls are beautiful.

We reached the top in 3.5 hours. it's a hard hike if you are not fit. but if you are in a good condition you will be able to see the amazing view on Banff in few hours. Just be careful, you have to turn on the right just before the false summit. You have no sign on the trail and that's pretty sad. the way back into the forest is very boring. it will be challenging and you may be able to see some bears.

Go early. Easy hike, i was really hungover and managed fine haha. It's mostly in the trees and the ink pots are pretty cool so it's worth doing. Make sure you get an ice cream from the little shed when you return from the hike, cheapest you'll find around Banff!!

This was easily one of the best, if not the best hike I've done in Canada thus far, intense but an awesome experience. Walked clockwise and recommend others to do so as the beginning is steep and would be a difficult descent, plus coming down the Edith pass section was a nice way to finish but watch out for bears in this section, lots of berries around the trail (I did not see any bears).

Nice accessible hike to a great lake. Great for beginners, the trail is a bit uninteresting along the way, but the lake is worth it.

Superb hike, everything one could ask for with diversity on the trail. Ranging from the switch backs with shade on the way up the early steep to the longer climb over to Cory pass and down through the forest on the decent. Feels longer than 13k.
We would agree with the trail rating but worth doing for sure.

Very steep but very rewarding with a great view. Took us about 5 hours to complete

Good hike, gets challenging higher up but doesn't take too long to get to the peak. It is busy so you have to stop to let people past on the narrow parts but I enjoyed it :)

The canyon was really cool, but crowded. There were lines by each of the falls viewpoints to wait to take your picture (about 2pm weekday), and some folks seemed completely oblivious to moving with the flow of traffic on the narrow walkways. Once you get past the upper falls, the crowd thins out a ton and it's a nice quiet hike to the ink pots. They were pretty cool and the surrounding views were nice, but if you're limited on time, I wouldn't consider the ink pots portion of the hike a must-see. Definitely go up to the upper viewpoint though.

This is no joke!
Steep incline on the way up but breathtaking views at the top. The scree on the descent was fun and the forest trail was a welcome change.
This is a challenge for even a physically fit hiker but well worth the climb.

The first bit is very crowded. Get there early to avoid the people and the full parking lot. The falls are beautiful though!
Once you get past the upper fall, it clears out. There are many switchbacks but the ink pots are a unique place to visit! Very cool place. We had lunch here then returned.

Nice hike but it was kind of late when we get there

We were inspired by a young lady who went all through the inkpots with crutches. We did the hike again after two years and the inkpots were much more beautifulthis year due to the amount of rain! It is a beautiful hike.
