Please be aware that beyond Mirror Lake the trail is actually in avalanche terrain and not recommended in the winter!
Stay safe!

If you want to get away from the crowds at the lake Louise front shoreline, take this for a little jaunt. Different perspectives of the lake, especially at the back shoreline. A loop is possible.

A decent little hike if you want to get away from the crowds at Lake Agnes. Incredible views of Lake Louise and if you want, you can get a pic of mirror lake and lake Louise in the same frame. Just watch your step.

A decent little walk. Something to bring the relatives on that don’t hike much. Agnes Lake is beautiful but the teahouse can get packed up pretty quick. Go early if you can.

Worth the drive if you are visiting other places in the area.

Peyto Lake is worth the drive -- make sure you walk the trail to get away from the crowds at the viewpoint!

We did this hike in early May and it was probably our favorite hike of the trip. Take it all the way to the top--you won't regret it!! The beginning is busy and pretty heavily trafficked but it thins out as you continue onward. Have fun!!

Peyto Lake is a stunning, pristine and vibrantly coloured lake along the Icefields Parkway drive, that is well worth stopping for. It is located about 40 minutes north of Lake Louise. I visited here in July 2017.

This is a popular place to stop for those driving this scenic stretch of highway, so I recommend arriving earlier in the morning to beat the crowds if possible.

From the parking lot on the west side of the highway, a short paved trail led to the wooden viewing deck which provided amazing views looking out to the lake. It was an uphill climb to the lookout, which was pretty steep in some areas as it gained considerable elevation and took around 10-15 minutes to get there.

Peyto Lake is absolutely spectacular. The colour of the water was an incredible vibrant blue that didn't even look real. It was surrounded by mountains and pine forests. I enjoyed admiring the views and taking photos from this classic lookout spot.

I recommend stopping here on your drive (you only need 40 minutes or so). Truly a beautiful place to see.

Hiked 12/24/18. Great hike! Would definitely recommend bringing snow shoes if you plan to go all the way to the tea house.

Beautiful view and quick walk to the main look out! Don’t step off the path or you’ll find yourself waist deep in snow! There is a smaller hike near the look out which I believe was called marsh loop! Definitely worth it. Along the loop you’ll hit a fork in the path. If you head right and walk for about 3-5 mins you’ll find the most beautiful view of Peyto Lake.. even better then the main view. You can turn around there and head back to the main loop. Might not be the safest path when there is considerable avalanche risk. Not sure how long that path will remain during winter as it didn’t not look very travelled on when we were there.

I went there for snowshoeing and it was quite a cardio but really nice! The view at the end worth it. The tea house is close tho, don’t expect to be open. Definitely would recommend it!

Loved this hike. It was well marked and the scenery is stunning the farther up you go. Will also recommend the Little Bee Hive as well. Path can be done with hikers but recommend crampons and poles pending which route you take down from Lake Agnes.

It’s a great hike. Steep climb all the way up. Always busy though. Nice to relax at the tea house. Lake Agnes is beautiful, with stunning views.

Awesome! Nice late fall (with snow) trail with some slippery sections.

Hiked this one in the snow before dawn to try and watch the sunrise. Most of the view was obstructed by the trees, but there was a spot along a switchback where you could see the sky changing to bright pink just beyond the mountains. If you are staying in Lake Louise, this was a decent option for seeing the sunrise by the lake. We only went up to Mirror Lake because of the avalanche warnings up to Lake Agnes. The snow was packed down and the hike was easy with ice cleats, but they were likely unnecessary.

Great trail, hiked on 11/18. Packed snow most of the way, would recommend crampons. Used poles, but not necessary. Worth making the trek up to the tea house (closed) for a great view and serenity. Would recommend snowshoes if you were to continue on to little beehive lookout.

This is a beautiful hike any time of year. While the tea house is closed, it’s still worth the trek, which is a steady and moderately steal climb. The views are breathtaking.

Easy hike for the whole family with fantastic view of Peyto Lake at the overlook.

Very easy hike with beautiful views of the mountains, glaciers, and the Fairmont. I hoped in late November so we stopped at the end because of avalanche warnings, but would have continued to go on to the Plain of Six Glaciers trail if we had the training or the if the conditions were better. lots of people at the lakefront, but it thinned out for us as we walked away from the hotel.

Absolutely gorgeous, one of the best views I've ever seen. Very easy. The trailhead is at the north end of the first parking lot. It was not too busy since it is winter, but there were more people here than most prefer places (except Lake Louise).

Beautiful Hike! It is a relatively short hike however it is quite the incline the majority of the way and if you are used to living at sea level you might find breathing a little more difficult! All in all a great experience.

It looks photoshopped in real life.

We did it in mid october and the trail through the frozen lakes (mirror, agnes) was wonderful. very quiet at this period (just saw 5 people during the hike) si even better. breathtaking view of lake Louise.

Great hike, short (relatively) but uphill all the way. There had been some fresh snow when we were there, so it wasn’t too slick, but I imagine you would want crampons on a typical winter day, especially if you’re making the push past Mirror Lake to the tea house. Lake Agnes was covered and it was super windy up there, so we didn’t stay long before heading back down. Awesome views of the beehives, the valley, and Lake Louise from spots on the trail!

Steady incline to the tea house (closed). Lots of packed down snow so made it slippery in spots due to the incline. Some beautiful scenery along the way looking down on Lake Louise from the trail.

Lots of snow up there yesterday. Micro-spikes/crampons were absolutely needed. Few people on the trail because of the snow.
Snow makes this more difficult to get up to the top. Both Mirror Lake and Lake Angus covered with snow.
I would like to do this again in the spring/summer.

Lake Agnes views are SPECTACULAR. Easy and heavily trafficked gravel trail with some wooden stairs. Bring cash for the tea house.

Good hike! The first part until lake Agnes is a pretty popular trail, bigger and more people but once you reach lake Agnes/Tea House and start your way up to BigBeehive you will see less people and the trail becomes smaller (which I like!) The switchbacks are pretty steep on lake Agnes side, but take your time and you'll make it! Needed cleats 2 weeks ago. Nice view of Lake Louise and Little Beehive. Nice little open cabin with benches to take a break before heading down (or up for Devil's Thumb!)

Hiked 10.27.18
Initially we set out to only do Little Beehive as recommended by The Visitor Center. The Visitor Center specifically said that due to the high Avalanche risk Big Beehive was not recommended. After summiting Little Beehive and Lake Agnes we decided to ignore the recommendation and do Big Beehive anyway. The trail definitely requires spikes and poles there may be some Avalanche danger but minimal in my opinion. The hike up was challenging through the switchbacks but absolutely worth the effort.
