Beautiful, quick hike. Directions within this map take you right to parking lot. Wasn't busy today and not too too much snow/ice. Some of trail was even dirt. Girlfriends managed to do without crampons, we saw a girl with uggs managing, however for piece of mind, I slapped on microspikes on way down. Lovely views at top.

Excellent in the winter.
Even got to see people ice climbing

Excellent challenging trail, yet open to all able bodied hikers. In the summer I saw many people of all ages and physical ability going up the trail. Walk at your own pace and it's a great trail with an amazing reward.

make sure you add on the little extra distance when visiting Lake Agnes. it is worth it.

Loved this hike. It was well marked and the scenery is stunning the farther up you go. Will also recommend the Little Bee Hive as well. Path can be done with hikers but recommend crampons and poles pending which route you take down from Lake Agnes.

Some of the parts of the trail were closed so it was up and down the same path to the mini lakes at top.

My boyfriend, dog and I did this hike on a Sunday early afternoon and only saw 3 other people. It was a gorgeous day and amazing views at the top! The trail was packed down with snow but some icy spots closer to the top, was easy enough doing it in some hiking boots with little spikes or my bf only had hiking boots.

*All trails and the castle lookout sign say 3.7km one way or 6.4km total however my Fitbit said 5km one way or 10km total so the trail took longer than we thought but was all worth it when we got to the very top! Also, more likely 600m incline too. Definitely would keep this rated as a moderate trail! Our dog loved it as well ;)

I really enjoyed this hike. We went Aug 1, 2018. The trail was not as busy as the Lake Agnes trail, it felt like a slower incline to hike, still a steep climb to the tea house. Beautiful views the whole way. The trail varied from switchback to hiking on rocks, and small pathways on dirt, it was awesome. We also continued on to the glacier viewpoint, it had spectacular views, it gets very rocky near the end, so tread carefully.

It’s a great hike. Steep climb all the way up. Always busy though. Nice to relax at the tea house. Lake Agnes is beautiful, with stunning views.

Easy hike really close to Banff town.
No longer than 1 hour, not very steep but amazing views from the top both to the valley and the town.
They have several viewpoints along the way, and reaching the summit is easy. Great for beginners.
You can leave your car at the beginning of the mountain just by the cabins (free parking) and hike the road that leads to the actual trailhead for 10 minutes.
Totally worth the effort.

Well trafficked with packed snow the whole way. The best views are fairly early in the hike. Perfect for people with moderate endurance/experience

Awesome! Nice late fall (with snow) trail with some slippery sections.

Hiked this one in the snow before dawn to try and watch the sunrise. Most of the view was obstructed by the trees, but there was a spot along a switchback where you could see the sky changing to bright pink just beyond the mountains. If you are staying in Lake Louise, this was a decent option for seeing the sunrise by the lake. We only went up to Mirror Lake because of the avalanche warnings up to Lake Agnes. The snow was packed down and the hike was easy with ice cleats, but they were likely unnecessary.

Nov 17, 2018. Decided on this shorter hike while staying up the road at Baker Creek. Approx an inch of fresh snow all over the trail, but not quite deep enough for snowshoes to be required. I completed this one in hiking boots, but microspikes would be handy towards the end of the trail.
Beautiful bluebird day with a chilly breeze at the lookout. Views were great with all the fresh snow covering everything. Saw about 8-10 other people during the day, but relatively quiet.

Great trail, hiked on 11/18. Packed snow most of the way, would recommend crampons. Used poles, but not necessary. Worth making the trek up to the tea house (closed) for a great view and serenity. Would recommend snowshoes if you were to continue on to little beehive lookout.

This is a beautiful hike any time of year. While the tea house is closed, it’s still worth the trek, which is a steady and moderately steal climb. The views are breathtaking.

Wow! Amazing reward at the top!

Beautiful Hike! It is a relatively short hike however it is quite the incline the majority of the way and if you are used to living at sea level you might find breathing a little more difficult! All in all a great experience.

Gorgeous view!! Nice easy trail :)

Always one of my favourites to do especially in the winter!! Will have to go up to ink pots in the summer

Did this hike at the spur of the moment on a weekend getaway in Oct! Beautiful short hike. Micro spikes were required. Had the place mostly to ourselves except for a new friend we met!

Beautiful winter hike. Easy trail was very easy. Probably good with a stroller.
More difficult was full of tree roots and rocks under the little snow. Closer to the top of more difficult trail you need crampons. It was pure ice due to the overflow.
From the lakes, the hike up the stairs has a nice lookout. At the very top you can cross the road for a nice mountain and lake view.
Outhouse on site.

Went on Nov 12th. Sunny. Temp -5. Trail spilt into more difficult and east. More difficult has lots of frozen icy surface which are extramely spiliry. lots of beautiful forest view and sunny mountain view. Trail beyond water fall is covered in frozen ice. Spikes are recommended for that part of the trail.
Grassi lakes at the end of the trail is very beautiful and not frozen so you still see the beautiful color of the water.
I would go back in summer again.

I had pretty low expectations of this hike based on word of mouth reviews however it was pretty beautiful!
The walk from the cave and basin was along a paved walk way, agree with other comments that it can be a little boring however the couple of breaks in the trees give stunning views of the bow river and mountains behind. The canyon was partially frozen over with water running underneath! Beautiful and peaceful.
I couldn’t do the last 1km as it was really icy and had no micro spikes. Would recommend this as a longer and quieter Johnston Canyon.

Enjoyable easy hike :)
Went 3 weeks a go a bit slippery in some spots but other then that a good fun hike.

Not recommended for the harder side in the winter unless you have good shoe spikes. Great views and a pleasant trail when recovering from a hard trail. Lots of traffic even in winter and much better than Quarry Lake all around.

November 11, 2018. Beautiful canyon/river trail. Man-made trail structures throughout. If you have hiked before, this trail will not be a challenge except for the sometimes icy conditions. Good traction hiking boots are a must or a traction device (spikes/cleats) if you are not used to packed snow/icy conditions. This trail is pretty busy so do not expect to be alone with nature. Crowds aside, the canyon and falls are worth it. Enjoy!

Nov 10 2018 - beautiful views of the mountains while hiking the ridge and a larger 270 degree view at the trail end.
You can hike the trail with good hiking boots, but snow cleats would make some spots easier. Can be windy at the top as its an open area.
No washrooms on site.
Minimal hikers for a Saturday afternoon.
