Beautiful trail but negative side is crowded... avoid weekends. I have been hiking for a while first time I noticed people on this trail are rude and don’t move to side for faster pace hikers. Most people on this hike for photos

We arrived at the trailhead at 8:00 and there wasn’t that many people there yet - maybe 30 cars in the P1 lot. Hardly anyone on the trail at that time and we had the cave area just below the upper falls all to ourselves for about 15 min. By the time we made it to upper falls, the trail was jammed. Like others have pointed out, highly recommend starting as early as you can. Beautiful hike and the cave area is awesome.

Nice stop off of the side of the road if you’re looking for a quick hike. Not as spectacular as the paint pots in Banff but it was nice to see the different color clay soil.

A very nice trail for first time hikers. Be there early to enjoy the view and the sound of the water falls and also to avoid the crowd if you want to take a video or photo of the falls.

Beautiful!

Worth the effort. Incredible views, esp of the valley behind the lake.

Wonderful hike. 4 stars only because it was busy. Kids 7 and 10 did fine-just complained near the top. My phone says we went 6k there and back. Started at 830. Definitely best to start early.

You either have to do the 5 km hike straight up or take the 64 dollar gondola ride to the top to access this trail.

Went early at 6:30 am and glad that I did! It was a beautiful hike, but on the way down saw tons of people on their way up. Go early so you don’t have to fight the crowds!

Went pretty early around 6:30 am and there were already some people ahead of me. This was a cool hike and the falls even had a little cave you can go through and feel the spray from the water! Saw tons of people on my way down so definitely go early!

Getting an early start is key. The falls were beautiful and going the extra steps to the ink pots are worth it!!!!

Easy and relaxing hike. I got to the trailhead around 8:30 AM on a Saturday. I only passed two other couples on the way up and had the lake to myself for a while. On the way back I passed lots of hikers on their way to the lake and the parking lot was full when I got back to my car. I would recommend getting an early start to beat the crowds. Also, there were quite a few muddy spots along the trail that you have to deal with, but other than that the trail is in good shape.

10/10 views. Lots of steps. Sooo many people at the top, but you will get why, as the view is magnificent. scramble down some rocks to get picks without 100 million people in them. the color of the lake is un like anything. Watch out for thieving chipmunks.

Did this in winter and it was really beautiful!! Snow everywhere, frozen waterfall at the other end of the lake that you can actually go stand on if you're a bit adventurous. We took a day off from skiing to do this and it was a great day!

General walking shoes are fine, no hiking boots required. All trails are paved and very well maintained. Some of the surfaces are wet from the river, but all and all a very easy, scenic walk.

A very busy but short easy hike up stone stairs to the top. In order to get pictures with no one in them you will have to climb over the stone wall and down a few of the rocks. Once you pick a good spot you won’t have any worries about getting people or trees in your picture / view.

The trail was easy. But the best part was the mesmerizing views - the lake water with the mountains in the backdrop.

I had never seen a trail this busy till I did this one. There were too many people unto the lower falls. Later the crowd started thinning out as we header for the upper falls. Had to wait in a line to get closer to get a view of the falls.

I went on June 14th at around noon. Bit of overcast and sprinkling rain, but the water was still unbelievably blue. Went on this short hike with my 5 month old, 11, 7 and 5 year olds. Not very busy till after 2pm.

The trail is really nice however it is so busy with people it was almost like waking through New York City. People in the way all the way up. If you don’t like the crowds get there super early.

Pretty water and falls, but crowded

Full disclosure--I probably wouldn't have stopped here but my wife suggested it on a cloudy day when other more iconic sites were obscured. I'm glad I listened to my wife--the pools of yellow, orange, and green are incredibly vivid and reflect the shadows of the surrounding trees like some kind of psychedelic artwork. And we had the place to ourselves, which was rare on our trip to the area in July. Your shoes/boots will probably get muddy on the trail but I liked it as a reminder of the interesting colors in the sediment of this area.

Very busy trail! Beautiful falls

Easy hike but really nice views!

Such a pretty hike! The hike is along the water throughout, great views! The lower falls was the best, especially when you can get up close to the waterfalls! Although you can't get very close to the Upper falls, Upper falls overlook is worth the extra climb.

Very easy and kid friendly trail but can be extremely crowded/busy so avoid perk times.

Absolutely gorgeous, its been quite a few years since I've been here but I want to go back so much.

Breathtaking! But GET THERE EARLY! We thought 7 am on a Thursday would be early enough but no parking available and about 75 cars lined up waiting. Maybe this was because it rained earlier in the week and this was a cloudless blue sky day but we waited for about two hours. However it WAS worth the wait. And the rock pile is definitely the best view. Astoundingly beautiful!

Expect people since it’s a leisurely stroll around one side of the lake. Great beach area at the end with benches along the way. Trail is wide so it was easy flow of traffic.
