Very crowded. Good mountain views and nice lake.

Okay little hike but more vertical than we were hoping for on an “easy” walk. The loop isn’t fully open so it’s just an in and out right now. Crampons or poles definitely needed with the hard packed and slippery snow. Super close to Canmore which was convenient. All dogs were leashes too which was nice.

First trail we took on our trip to Banff. What a way to start! So much for easing into things. The reward at the end was more than worth it. Tea was wonderful. The return trip seemed to be more difficult, but was worth every step.

Easy hike but definitely need crampons in the spring. If you are lucky enough to go before the summer when the tourists hit you may have the place completely to yourself! Other than the howling wolves it was majestic :)

nice and short hike for our first in Banff, great views along the way and nothing difficult to encounter on the way. cleats made a huge difference because the packed snow trail was a bit slippery without them.

Easy hike for beginners!!

Nice and easy. It is worth the view.

Great little hike with fantastic views! Short & easy, and seems to be a popular trail as there were lots of people.

Nice hiking for cold days.the hike is easy to do and it has beautiful views.it is recommendable to wear ice cleats/crampons.

Nice view at the top. Good winter hike.

Nice and easy trail. Very icy/snowy in winter, pikes cleats recommended. Lower trail closed during winter due to ice and ice falls but accessible with care. That's probably the better part of the trail, don't skip it if you have the right equipment.

Intense workout with a great reward at the end!

Nice easy trail for a couple of older ones

Great switchbacks and views!

knee high snow but worth it

My favourite! Short and so sweet!

Beautiful views of Banff and a great little hike to get your heart pumping, very low time commitment required so you can plan multiple activities in a day and still get a good hike in!

Love this trail for its elevation gain/switch backs that make you work thru the entire hike, also, love the option to hike down the backside of Sansen to the Cave and Basin to change it up on the way down. Extend the hike at the top by walking the boardwalk to the cosmic ray station. Amazing views of Banff are a nice bonus :)

Beautiful vistas, quite a workout bring your walking poles

Super easy trail with beautiful ponds and some wall climbing.

Waiting for the snow to come and it’s on it’s way but want to keep the legs in shape! It was icy so hiked it with poles and cleats. Lovely views on the way up. It took us around 1.5 hrs to get to the top. Once there we treated ourselves to a lovely lunch and warm washrooms and then took the gondola down for free. Then, off to the hot pools for a soak! A lovely outing!

Steep switchbacks to get to the top. Worth it once you are up. You get to see a beautiful panoramic view of the mountains! There is a great place at the top for lunch and refreshments . Free gondola on the way down . You can also take gondola up to the top if you are unable to hike for a charge .

Great view at the top!!

Sep 2nd // Was surprised to see as many people as I did, most difficult hike I've done. Very long and strenuous up and down, we spent 10 hours. The hike itself is mostly just a gruesome grind, not for the faint of heart. However the heights and views once reaching the summit were incredible! Also incredibly windy.

Snow covered trail was fun, unique experience. The trail from Mirror to Lake Angels had about 2.5 ft of fresh powder. We didn’t use snow shoes or trekking poles but they would have been helpful..

Hiked it in the beginning of November. There is a bunch of snow, but it was well accessible in without any special equipment though. Frozen lakes and waterfall were amazing. A quite short easy/ moderate hike (if you choose the more difficult path).

The views are fantastic the entire hike. Initially you have changing perspectives of the town of Banff and then at the top you can see down both sides of the mountain into the valleys on either end. Yes, there are lots of tourists so don't expect this to be a place of solitude but it is great for what it is: a moderately sloped trail which is well maintained and provides incredible scenery.

Great place, but crowded

We did this trail on an afternoon in late October.
I would definitely recommend taking the more difficult trail on your way up if you're capable, and then taking the easier trail down. The easier trail is a bit boring, whereas the more difficult trail leads to a gorgeous view of a waterfall. However, if you take the more difficult route I'd definitely rate this hike as moderate rather than easy! Took us under 1.5 hours to do the whole thing, taking the more difficult route up and the easier one down. The lakes are super pretty and there are some great views on your way up.

Amazing trail and not to difficult even in the snow. Although the tea house was closed the surrounding scenery was great.
