Nice moderate trail with a number of hills and valleys

somewhat muddy. decent trail system

One of the best trails for the Gunpowder area. Open views. Many extra little paths. Gradual inclines but mostly flat. Not boring scenery.

It is what the name says.. a pleasant easy hike.

Revisited.

Returned to the LR course I last ran on July 11th this year. What a revelation! It’s the exact same course I did in mid-summer with vastly different terrain in mid-fall. The run was slowed down due to blowdown, marshes and slip pits from rains the last 2 days, fallen leaves everywhere (more slips), hidden rocks, branches and other obstacles that you cannot see due to the fallen leaves (trip harzards), briars and pointy branches lining the trail that you now encounter due to midline marshes and slip pits, twigs everywhere — really, this was a much different run than in summer. Nonetheless, it is still a great 4-mile course! Managed to get in two out-n-backs for 8.4 miles total. Had two big slip-n-falls while trying to ante up on speed over unseen mud slicks. Walking around the deep marshes was also a challenge. Be prepared to get muddy when the trail is like this, from the shoes up. Still a great outing and I look forward to returning. My recording is posted.

Heads up: LOWER PORTION OF TRAIL FLOODED 11/4/2018

I love this series of trails. There are a bunch of branch points and it is very close to Baltimore where I live so I can easily be out in nature in no time at all. I trail run here. The main (red trail) is pretty wide and flat. The blue trail is flat, but narrow and goes along the river. It is my favorite as I see a lot of birds, deer, foxes along this trail. The yellow, green, and orange trails are rockier with more tree roots and have a bit of elevation change. All of the trails go through mature forest so they are shady in the summer. Almost all of the trails get muddy so be prepared if has rained recently. I don’t mind it personally, but some may.

This trail is great. Very hilly though

the hike was beautiful and the Park Rangers or Volunteers were very helpful in getting me to the portion of trail I wanted to be at. I didn't see any rumored "ruins" but the trail has lots of waterfalls, a cool swinging bridge and lots of BIKES. The people on bikes were very friendly but they rode fast and you have very little time to move out of the way. I'd go again though.

This is a great hike, but can be very muddy in some sections.

FYI -- hiking boots will almost definitively get filled with water at one of the stream crossings. The rest of them were shallow enough or had enough rocks, but for one stream, you either just step into deep water and fill your boots or risk falling in and getting more wet because the rocks are too far from each other. Pretty sticky mud at some spots, but otherwise it was a nice hike. Make sure you tie your boots on tight! :-)

Very muddy, but quite nice while walking along the water. A bit more challenging when going through the woods, but nothing extremely difficult.

First time trail running and it’s the perfect trail for it. If you’re going to run be careful on rainy days

Very enjoyable hike, not strenuous but there are some hills to traverse.

Bread moderate hike! Well maintained and good for a group with varied experience.

Great terrain! A little muddy this time out, but great experience over all.

This was a beautiful hike after a long period of rain the trail was quite muddy but well worth it!

The trail was clear enough to make it easy to follow. Intersections were not marked though so I had to use the map to stay on the right path. It was muddy since it rained heavily the day before I went out but it wasn’t impassable because of it. The dogs love it too! But there wasn’t a shallow water front for them to play in the water.

Very pretty and quiet. Good for taking an easy walk, or maybe bird-watching. Saw people walking their dogs. There was a pretty cool nature center, well maintained trails, and very interesting, historic lime kilns to observe.

Well kept, many altitude changes. Not as close to the water as it seems on the map. The pay off is the beach. We started on Morgan Mill and took the left fork which took us around to finish at Loch Raven Dr at the beach.

Perfect hike with the family and our 3 yr. old Lab.

Very nice, clean and clear paths some hills but then some levels

Had to use map to stay on trail and lots of mosquitos near the river. But a nice hike nonetheless.

Awesome trail that is very well maintained. Definitely a little confusing when you get to spots where there are other trails connected but as long as you have the map with you on your phone you’ll be good! Good variation of flat, uphill and downhills throughout the trail! Perfect for trail running if you want a moderate trail.

nice views of the river for about 40% of trail. didn't see what made it hard other than it was difficult to find some turns.

Good difficulty and length! Parking was extremely limited, but we happened to be lucky. I could see it being frustrating if you didn't get one of the ~6 spots right next to the trailhead (as it's marked on this map - there are several spots along the road where you can hop on here).

Good flexibility in terms of being able to add & cut some loops along the way - just nothing spectacular here, though it's also far from boring. My experience was also a bit colored because I was stung by a bee at snacktime...watch where you're kicking around under larger rocks. My girlfriend did find some pretty uncommon mushrooms if you're into that sort of thing!

Apparently this trail is closed now due to flooding. It was a good trail. I wanted a quick bike ride after work before the sun went down, and this trail on a bike took me much less time than I thought, so maybe better for a walk than a bike until they stop construction and open up the whole trail. The trail is nice and paved though!

A lovely gravel trail that’s perfect for walking, running, or biking. Very flat and wide trail, definitely should be rated easy instead of moderate. Also if you’d like more views of the water I’d recommended going right when you get to the split in the trail.
