I The trail is fun but needs to watch the sign carefully. We went countclockwise red. When you see yellow and red, turn left and follow yellow. When you see both yellow and white, follow the white and you will reach the red again. AllTrails map is very helpful for this loop. Parking is easy along the roadside but be careful when walking on the road. Loop is 5 miles, so give yourself enough time before dark.

Phenomenal loop. Dynamic changes in elevation, landscape from open to dense, coniferous to deciduous and back.

Modern to difficult

Great hike! Pretty scenery, lightly-trafficked (Sunday afternoon in Oct), good challenge, and nice foliage. Pretty rocky with a little scramble...but hardest part is paying attention to the trail markers since you have to switch a few times on this designated hike. You start/finish on the red dot , but the northeast portion of this hike is marked with yellow markings, while the north and west portions are marked in white! Easy to miss but worth it for this hike.

Great hike. Got space on side of road about 8am. Handful of people most of the day until last bit with tons of folks going up. Go early. Also modified (see recording) by detour to see bowling rocks on the Dunning trail and did figure 8 coming down Dunning/white bar/nurian. Recommend as it’s a beautiful, quiet rolling hills walk in the forest. Very diff terrain than going up and hardly anyone on it. Adds .5 miles and one big hill towards the end.

Awesome trail, with beautiful views, pretty good workout-moderate difficulty.

Nice hike , on the high side of moderate I would say, with a long stretch of steady steep uphill at the end (we took loop counter clockwise). nice views at several places and good variation of scenery (open rock faces, dense forest, open wooded glades).

Excellent hike, highly recommend! Gorgeous views, and lots of scenery changes. Good rock scrambles in overall very interesting hike. We did it with two young children, and saw a lot of other families along the way. But we clocked 4 1/2 miles to do the loop.

Perfect little trail for a short day hike. Not too strenuous, but definitely a decent workout

Perfect hike for this distance! Lots of awesome scrambling, incredible views and a good variety of nature. One of our favorites at Harriman thus far. Brought our 6 mo. old pup and he absolutely loved it.
