Backpacking with Ariuka Map

Nice easy hike

My husband and I took 3 babies and our 5 year old today. It was beautiful but much harder of a climb than we expected carrying one baby in a pack and pushing the other 2 babies in a double bob stroller while the 5yo walked. Water still 99% frozen but beautiful still!

Excellent views and waterfall

Hiked about a month or so ago and loved this one. I had never taken this road around Moraine Park so it was a completely new area of the park for me. Not many people at all compared to the huge crowds at Bear Lake or Glacier Gorge Trailheads.

Fern Lake is beautiful and has some incredible views once you get out there. The 25+MPH winds were the reason I only spent a few minutes out there even though I would have loved to spend much longer out there.

Didn’t actually make it up! The east access road is currently closed off to traffic. Didn’t know how to update that without a review! I’m sure it’s a splendid running trail though!

Awesome day! Didn’t make it to heart lake because deep, soft snow led to postholing. Perhaps if we got an earlier start the snow would’ve been a bit better.. Decided to call it a day and turn around. Packed snow for the majority of the trail - micro spikes came in handy! All around great hike - will be back.

March 3 hike was beautiful, but the last stretch towards Lower Mohawk Lake was a little too sketchy for me. Not much hard pack there. I regretfully had to turn around just after the cabin before the top, because there was nobody else around, didn’t seem very safe. Otherwise almost the entire trail and Spruce Creek Road are both super easy in boots without snowshoes. Highly recommend poles, got icy in parts especially on the way back in late afternoon.

Beautiful area especially seeing it right after the recent snow fall Wednesday 02-21-18.. Little easy for my taste as it left me wanting more but still loved its beauty. Snow packed did not feel the need to put microspikes on but slippery in places.

Lots of snow but it was packed down nicely so didn’t need snowshoes to do the loop. Was tougher than usual trudging through the snow obviously. Beautiful views as usual! Road closed to the trailhead so you have to park a bit back that is an extra 0.8 mile from parking to the start of the lake loop.

awesome trail

Just wished for more snow...

Hiked on 1/15/18 - was a fresh snow day, which made the trail and scenery beautiful, captured some great photos! Although without the snow I don’t believe I would return. Uphill the whole way, which isn’t terrible, but you’re hiking on a service road the entire time.

Beautiful! Hiked only with boots and didn't need microspikes. Very windy.

I’ll be back! Good hike that wore my dog out! Look forward to fishing the lake when ice melts.

It was BEAUTIFUL in the snow. Don’t think it’d be anything that great without the added effect. Fine in hiking boots. Didn’t need spikes. Along an access road. Wouldn’t go back.

We saw moose! Unbelievably beautiful and memorable trail.

Great with the under 5 yo granddaughters.

We went Christmas Day and it was beautiful! The ascent is a nice challenge, there was a lot of beautiful snow out for us. It was just shy of 5 miles and was a perfect morning.

Snowy and gray on Christmas morning. Only a few others out. Had to park at the shuttle lot and hike the .7 miles to the trailhead. Went as far as the Pool area - going was ok with just spikes. Could have used snowshoes, but not bad up to this point. Nice to see at this time of year!

One of the best hikes I have ever been on. Breathtaking views I will never forget. Nice to camp there and visit Ouray Hot Spings after the hike. Took hundreds of pics as the hike is too beautiful not to.

Great hike. Easy to follow trail up until it starts becoming steep going to the first lake. I did the climb following animal tracks. Really cold and windy but it's so beautiful and quiet at the top.

It was spring at the start and snow pack at top. But I loved it

The ascent to the lake is crowded but luckily the trail connects to a few systems past the reservoir so it's much easier to get some separation. The ascent past the reservoir was delightfully persistent; I never felt a true summit was reached even after 5.5 miles and turned back. It was a pretty intense incline which was great because I mostly saw other people on foot. Definitely would go back to explore the back systems.

Trail was amazing. Started out a little to late and tried (with success) to reach Odessa Lake. Got caught in the dark on our way up. Headlamp was a great bring. Didn't make it out with out a scare or two and a Grand show by the stars. Truly Glorious!

could not access the trail.. the road was about 8 miles of 4wd snow covered road. beautiful out there though !

Great! Sorta weird when you get to the reservoir. But other wise a great trail for biking.

Great trail. Multi-use so beware of mtn bikes if you're running. Elevation gain is all at once, so be ready for that.

Beautiful area. The trail was clear today until a little past the bridge. We used micro spikes the last mile and a half.
