Beautiful waterfall! I was anticipating more of a hike into the waterfall, but this hike is excellent for a short trip with kids. The hike in is a all 4 wheel drive road, until you get to the base of river. The hike into the falls is a easy hike until you get to the base of the falls. This waterfall was beautiful! Wish it was summer so I could have taken a deep into the pool area at the base!

Our late-November summit of Mt. Mitchell proved to be shrouded in clouds. But our disappointment was short lived, as the trees on our way to the top were dusted in a layer of white. It was freezing. It was windy. It was impossible to see more than 30 yards in front of you, but it was gorgeous up there!

So beautiful! Very easy trek to the falls and well worth it!

Love how accessible it is for more people. I do miss the old tower but the current design accommodates many more people. Not really what one calls a hike, but we were breathing a little harder than usual when we reached the top. Surprised to see so many people up here today.. So grateful to live in these beautiful mountains!

Not much solitude, but good for a workout and a good scenic view at the end.

The trail is paved with brick. Very accessible, and it is cool to go to the tallest mountain, but not exactly fun hiking.

Great short hike, but I would not rate it as easy. You are still hiking up a mountain. Good for most skill levels, but if you are out of shape you will struggle a bit.

Nice spot to stop at if you want to stretch your legs and enjoy a wonderful view.

Great add on trek if you're hitting Green Knob Firetower or Setrock Creek Falls. There is parking for about 5-7 cars at the trailhead. The trail is a gravel road, with only minor elevation gain, so very easy for just about anyone. The falls are beautiful and the rocks at the base make great places for photos.

For our 7th Anniversary we stayed at the Mount Pisgah Campground and hiked the Pisgah trail with our dogs. The dogs did great and it wasn’t too bad on them although they were exhausted afterwards. I’m not an avid hiker and I will tell you I felt very tired after the hike but it was totally worth it. I wouldn’t recommend this trail if you are starting out especially with those that have chronic back problems or knee/ankle injuries due to the steep inclines going up and declines going down. I have had two ACL reconstructions and they are about 8 years old, needless to say arthritis kicked in good afterwards lol. Altogether it was a beautiful hike and very fulfilling to reach the top. There are (2) creeks, birds, multiple types of trees and shrubs, and wonderful rock formations along the trail. I think you will truly enjoy this trail should you decide to hike it.

Spectacular at sunrise! Gorgeous views st the top and lovely goi g up and down. It’s an easy hike but if you’re trying to catch the sunrise, allow enough time to make the short trek to the top since it’s so steep.

I read others reviews and must admit I have not been there since it was remodeled per se! I loved it! The old tower was cool! It was interesting because it was freezing in the altitude below but warm above the clouds the day we were there!

Alright people here we go...this trail is awesome! It will fool you. The first 1/4 mile is flat and easy, then the next 1/4 mile has some rocks to use as stepping stones. Then the fun begins! It's a mile and a half of elliptical training. Imagine an elliptic machine and a mountain had a baby. If co editions are perfect, great hike. We had a wether front come in and it was wet, slippery rocks. Coming down in perfect condition would be easy. Ours was a bit more challenging. Be warned...wear appropriate hiking shoes. You will thank me later.

Short and fairly steep hike with great end views for a relatively easy hike. I’m 38.5 weeks pregnant and able to hike. Looking forward to going back in June or July to see the rhododendrons in full bloom. Make sure to wear hiking shoes with a good grip due to some slippery wet rocks.

Great views

It took me about 50 minutes to hike up to the summit, I’m not a hiker but I’m a healthy and active person. I went slow but I only stopped a few times for less than a minute each to take pictures and catch my breath. Some parts of the trail were rocky and steep and a little slippery. I started around 7:20am and saw only one couple with their dogs ahead of me. I had the summit all to myself for a few minutes and the view was very nice, although the view from the Buck Springs Gap overlook near the trail entrance was much more spectacular than the one at the summit.

One of my favorite spots to watch the sunset!

nice, short trail. beautiful view at the top.

This hike is more than moderate for a 72 year old! First mistake was eating breakfast at The Pisgah Inn and then immediately going on a hike we've done at least four other times. We hear of hikers doing this assent in 20 to 30 minutes but we would have died on the trail trying to do it in less than an hour! So we took it slow and caught our breath probably six times but enjoyed the scenery along the way, which a speedy run wouldn't allow.
the trail overall, is well maintained and enhanced by the platform at the top. the views are spectacular even with a tower. The descent always goes easier but caution is the word for the day as one slip and your career is over as far as hiking goes. Recommend trekking poles to steady your climb and return. I believe the rating as most have given this trail, of moderate, is based upon ones age, weight, and attitude. personally I'd rate it "Difficult". See you at the trailhead!

Very easy trail on the parkway offering great views!

If you are looking for an easy trail that gives great 360 views- this is one of the best in that regard

Nice stroll to the falls. Harder climb up right side of falls, especially after a day of rain.

Paved trail to the summit. Slightly steep but well worth the trek up for the 360 degree views.

Great short hike to the summit from the parking area. You ascend around 400ft over 3/4 mile so not to bad. The trail is dirt and rocks. Great views at the top.

Was more of a walk up to the summit then a hike, nicely paved and great views from every direction. They have built this for all ages so that all can reach the highest summit on the Appalachian Trail!! There are trails to hike when you get there. Beautiful!!

I think this is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in western North Carolina. While the view from the base is really nice the view you get from the top is spectular.

Beautiful views from all around. Fairly easy and paved.
