Hiked this trail a few months ago, November I think! Way too close to the road. Never worry about getting lost. Just follow the traffic noise

Lots of switchbacks but still pretty steep. Fairly difficult but the view is worth it.

Perhaps it’s a more beautiful trail in the spring so I will give it another whirl in April or so. But as of January 14th, this was disappointing. I only went about 2 miles in from Folk Art Center trailhead and was saddened by the level of vine take over of all the trees along the way.

Yes, the trail was noisy as the description states. There was also a small portion where you walk along the highway that made my dogs a little nervous when cars passed.

On the bright side, we met a beautiful horse who was chilling in her pasture. She came to the fence and allowed the dogs to check her out. Made the hike worth it.

Beautiful falls but very crowded at times. It’s right off the road and you can pull over and see the falls without even walking down. I’ve been once and had no one around. I got lucky I guess! Beautiful places are popular for a reason though.

Not strenuous at all, but a nice wide, relatively flat walk along the riverside with smaller falls appearing first and then a beautiful high set of falls at the end of mile. Take your mom.

A fun hike. A bit muddy but we enjoyed it. Kids did better than myself who slipped a few times. There's a small river to go through...seemed a lot didn't realize this. Wear proper hiking shoes or an extra set.

Waterfall was really nice and tucked away. A bit crowded for a few moments. Overall a cool hike.

View at the top is worth it! Very muddy right now, and our watches showed 3 miles each way

Dear lord this was a hard trail. Me and my two best friends went camping together and we spontaneously decided to do this trail for some reason. The whole thing is pretty much uphill but the view... my god the view was incredible at the top. It was so breathtaking it made the whole hike worth it. Just a note: the three of us are not in peak physical condition. I’m moderately fit but have hypoglycemia and a syncope problem, one friend has asthma and hypoglycemia but she runs frequently, and the second friend just casually works out. It took a while to go up and down this monster but we managed it.

Great, easy hike. Beautiful the whole way. My kids love going there. However there are lots of snakes in the summer

Beautiful

If the highway is closed, you can walk from Elk Pasture Gap...a little over 6 miles round trip.

Nice easy hike that follows creek up to falls. Super muddy yesterday 1/1/19 due to all of the rain. Don’t forget your boots

Loved the view from the top, but there wasn't much of a view at all till the overlook. Some of the other climbs we hiked had a several views along the way, this one was forest until the overlook.
Still, a fun hike, with a breathtaking view. The single vantage point, and reasonably heavy amount of traffic will probably keep me from going back, but I think it was absolutely worth doing once!

Great views. Not too difficult of a hike. Definitely worth it!

Amazing hike for very little effort! Awesome family hike!!! Highly recommend

Fun trail with breathtaking views at the top! It’s a decent hike up - also super muddy from all the rain. There were also a ton of people hiking this trail. After you get through the switchbacks, it’s a steady incline up. Bring a snack and enjoy the view at the top.

Easy hike to the falls. Today the trails were very muddy due to all of the recent rain. The new bridges definitely help with the water crossings.

Short and easy trail for those who do not want serious hiking. Very muddy December 29 due to lots of rain.

A great little trail that easily leads to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Once there, you are only feet away from connecting to the Mountains-to-Sea Trail. Once you reach the parkway look across the parkway and to your right. You will see a car pull off area where you can access the Mountains-to-Sea Trail and hike to your heart's content. In the winter this section of the Parkway is often closed which means you have the Parkway to yourself.

Flat the entire stretch. Nice if you have season pass.

Overall I would rate a B+. Experienced Hiker. trail as not strenuous at all. a touch but muddy. Not to many people on the trail, popular trail for the dogs though. Old Britsh man at the top asked if I wanted to share a pint with, I accepted the gracious offer. View was decent. Over all a good hike.

Short easy hike to an amazing waterfall. Some interesting history to read at the trail head regarding the falls. Went on a early weekday morning and had the trail all to myself which was nice. Some rock hoping required to get a good view of the falls but it's worth it!

Intense ending if you attempt it

Not a bad hike at all, first mile is kinda steep but don’t let it fool you it’ll slack up some. The views are definitely worth the hike, bring lunch

great trail to challenge your leg strengths. I am a beginner hiker and it was a bit hard. it was worth to see the view on top!

Easy, short hike to pretty waterfalls. Low effort, high yield. Large parking lot right at the trail head. Way too crowded on a weekend though, I passed seriously no less than a hundred people coming and going. Very muddy as well because of recent rains. If you’re coming to Asheville from the east this would be a great pit stop (a couple miles off I-40) but I otherwise wouldn’t go out of my way to hike it again.

Nice easy walk through the woods. Trails were in good condition and well marked. It was wet and a little sloppy in places. My 9 year old had no problems and I managed carrying a 3 year old in a pack.

Beautiful waterfall even if there is no hike with it.. Real good one to take someone to if they are not able to hike.

Do the hike several times a month.
Great hike, magnificent view from the rock face.
One of my favorite hikes.
