Trail was well marked and maintained.
Great hike. Way down is a wide trail and you will be descending for the first half. We ended up missing the entrance to the trail for stairway falls at first and made it all the way to rainbow falls which was beautiful. Stairway falls takes some extra effort to get to since the trail is not as maintained but also beautiful.
Great views. Terrain can be a bit tricky. Especially if it’s frozen over like it was today. Extremely windy on the rocks in the openings. Will be back!
Windy morning but nice view at the top.
The description is in reverse order. You start in the park and the first falls you see are the Turtleback falls continuing in that order. Turtleback falls is small and more a turtleback rapids than falls. The trail is clear and obvious the entire way.
Perfect hike, not too long or strenuous and the best part is the gorgeous waterfall at the end!
We accessed this trail via parking at Devil’s Hole/Sitting Bear. The trail was beautiful and the ascent wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be when I could see Hawksbill from the trail. I am glad I had poles because it was a little muddy and slippery. The 360° views at the top are incredible. Table Rock, Shortoff, Mt. Mitchell, Grandfather, South Mountains and even Lake James. Definitely one I’d do again. I’d pack a little light lunch and sit and gaze at the beauty all around.
All trails rates this hike as moderate, Highland Hiker rates it as strenuous. I would say it’s somewhere in between. Trail is very clearly marked. Beautiful falls. Fine for dogs who are accustomed to exercise, but not for little dogs or out of shape pups.
Short hike with gorgeous views at the top! Road in is a little rough, so watch out for that, but we would definitely do this one again!
Sometimes you have to walk through streams so would definitely wear water proof shoes. But the waterfalls are so pretty!!
great shorter hike with lots of areas to explore at the top. when back in the area we will definitely stop again to see. road in and out is a little rough so be prepared.
Hard steep climb to lovely views at rattlesnake rock
Do this trail! Pretty easy path and the waterfall is stunning!
Great
Go to Exclamation Point in the morning and the Falls in the afternoon for the best sun exposure. Great park and well maintained trails. Lovely day here with a mostly empty parking lot.
Steady inclines and declines for a good pace workout. The second half you get to listen to the rapids and is a little more strenuous with stairs in the steepest places. Great rock outcroppings for a rest and great views!
Waterfall is shaded in the morning and ice was falling from the top as the sun and temp rose today. Nice warmup for the big climb.
Great hike, the views were breathtaking worth ever step! a little muddy and iced over at the turtle back falls if you go early in the morning like we did!
Short hike, steep at the end. Beautiful views over Linville Gorge.
Impressive falls , great hike
Wow, what a great hike! Trail was a little crowded on a Sunday afternoon, but small price to pay for 3 nice waterfalls. Rainbow Falls was especially spectacular. Wide trail, and not too steep.
