Beautiful waterfall. Lots of rocks and roots along the path and a little crowded but it was a weekend! Overall very nice hike!

Super easy trail with an amazing water fall. Avoid this trail on the weekends as it can be extremely crowded. Quick hike with a rewarding view.

decent hike up. keep making lefts. at one point there's a sign for parking or Trail and if you go right you'll be going down the mountain around another side. it does have an awesome panoramic view at the top which is well worth the hike.

Worth the hike. Easy trail and beautiful views. The way in is an upward climb and seemed more moderate to me because I was carrying my toddler in a pack all the way up, so I’m sure it’s much easier than it felt

Beautiful trail and easy to navigate. Definitely worth going the whole way up to the falls. We brought our dogs and they loved it.

AWESOME HIKE! I'm not big on waterfalls but this one is WORTH IT! There are several waterfalls along the trail but the one at the end of the trial is a beauty.

More on the easy side than moderate. Views are amazing though!

Great view, quick hike, will get rather crowded on the weekends. Trail is pretty moderate, but gets a little steep towards the top but nothing too challenging.

Decided to go to Linville Gorge for our first ever hiking/camping trip and we were not disappointed! Ended up hiking Hawksbill twice in one evening, the second time to set up camp on top to make sure we caught the spectacular sunrise in the morning. Definitely worth the second trip and 30 degree night!

Great trail. Not too difficult with one of the best views in all of NC. Multiple vantage points at the top.

We are flatlanders from Florida in our late 50s, early 60s and found this to be a comfortable hike. 2 bridges and one creek crossing. Very few roots and rocks to navigate. Go early to avoid crowds. Sunrise or shortly thereafter. It was crowded on our way out.

Great last min idea to get some outdoor time while vacationing in Asheville. Waterfall is beautiful.

Backpacking - First and foremost, I have no idea what trail you guys have been on but it was a different experience for us today. It may have been the rain over the past few days but we had no less than six or seven water crossing with little to no fjords before coming to a section where a waterfall was with three logs over it, no rail and water too swift to just cross the rocks. We did turn around. Now, maybe I am a pansy, I will take that but do note, there are a decent amount of water flowing and I was not crossing the top of the water fall on the logs with no hand rails and a seven foot drop on one side nor was I crossing over the slippery rocks with rushing water. With that said, this trail IS beautiful. It is on the easier side of moderate for certain, excluding the water issues we had today. There were alot of people in the area either camping or hiking for the day, so I consider this one to be moderately trafficked as well. If you are looking for solitude, not really the place. Although it wasn't a mountain biking trail with did experience four on the trail, appears they just got crossed up somewhere along the way. Beautiful waterfalls and streams throughout the area. Tons of mud so wear good shoes. Trail also contains a lot of rocks at the first and is fairly rootey, that didn't affect the overall hike though. A couple of great places to camp along the way, may revisit when it is less wet. Happy Hiking and don't die on waterfalls.

Beautiful trail. Once you hit the half way mark I would rate it as difficult. Be ready to breathe hard but the view is worth it!

Great hike for our whole family! My 3.5 year old did the entire thing independently and my 65 year old FIL loved it. Took us about 2 hours total. Don't stop until you get to the top oast the second bridge... You will definitely know when you have hit the big, gorgeous falls at the top. Trail had some parts where you had to walk over large rocks in the creek and at the falls you have to maneuver over through big boulders to get the best view...DO IT!

Great short hike, but I would not rate it as easy. You are still hiking up a mountain. Good for most skill levels, but if you are out of shape you will struggle a bit.

Heavy low cloud cover today obstructed the view at the top. However, a few peeks into the valley floor revealed brilliant fall colors.

Nice hike up to Sitting Bear rock. Made it half way up to Sitting Bear peak but decided to turn back due trail being covered with fallen leaves which along with the steepness made footing to slippery. Headed back to Hawksbill which is always and enjoyable hike. The color in the gorge was nice. Also the screaming jets were and added bonus.

Parking is on the side of the road, GPS will take you right to it. There were a ton of cars around but it appeared everyone was doing the Bearwallow Mountain Trail not this one. We backpacked down the switchbacks and to an annoyance of deadfall over an exceptionally steep place. Beyond that one bit of deadfall the remainder of the trail was clear. Once we got down the first initial grade it seemed the trail leveled off until we started to incline to the knoll. We packed through the deep forest without seeing anyone going in and only one couple coming back out. Trail deadheads in the middle of the knoll. We stopped and had lunch and watched the clouds go by. Field had recently been mown so there was no overgrowth to deal with. Trail over all was very nondescript. It was a good workout to get the heart rate up carrying the additional weight. Will likely go back again during the winter to see the snow on the mountains.

Easy hike to two major waterfalls. The trek to the Upper Falls was not as dangerous as I read that it would be...piece of cake. Close to a 4 mile round trip.

Easy out and back hike. Don’t a bad waterfall considering our simple the trail is. High traffic though, even during the week.

This trail was nice! There were a lot of rocks which made it more difficult but it wasn’t the worst rocky hike I’ve ever done. When we went it was extremely foggy and couldn’t see a whole lot.... however we did hike the additional 3.6 miles to Douglas Falls and it was beautiful!

My review is from the perspective of an amateur landscape photographer.

I was pleasantly surprised by these falls. The lower falls are very photogenic and easily accessible. There are a number of good opportunities for different compositions, assuming you are comfortable with some easy rock scrambling and the slight possibility of getting your feet wet. the only downside is the trail is very popular (great scenery and relatively easy hike) and it may be difficult to setup your shot without waiting for others to clear the immediate area. But it's worth the wait.

There are also some nice spots along the trail to photograph the stream and some minor cascades.

Overall a nice outing with many opportunities for waterfall photography.

Took this hike a day after a pretty heavy rain storm. Lots of muddy places along the trail. From the base to the top is pretty much all uphill. The last quarter to the top is extremely uphill. The views at the top are fantastic! You can see Table Rock, Linville Gorge and Lake James. It was an overcast day, but the view was still amazing.

A very popular trail near Old Fort that is both easy to navigate and visually engaging. The trail is very nice and well worth climbing by itself--however add in the waterfalls and this is a fantastic outing. They are quite impressive.

This hike was very interesting. It felt longer than what is actually is . We climbed the steep rock part which is basically the end of the hike but when you come to it there’s a trail to the right that takes you to the top as well and is easier! We took that’s one going done and it was easy. A little muddy but worth it. . We did professional photography at the top and the views are incredible! We went in late October and at the top it was very very windy and freezing but worth it . Definitely wanna do this again in earlier fall

Good hike, had to cross a bit of water using rocks but enjoyable.

Nice spot to stop at if you want to stretch your legs and enjoy a wonderful view.

October 24, 2018.
We hiked up and back going counterclockwise on trail on way up. Outstanding vistas from the top. Fall colors were just starting to come on.
