Hiked this clockwise from winding stairs last week with my brother and his son. What we loved about the trail: there was a lovely stream along the trail at almost every point along the way, the campsites were plentiful and well-maintained, there were beautiful wildflowers blooming, and for the most part the All Trails app was incredibly helpful. Some downsides: the trail is pretty poorly marked, the peaks are below tree line (so no rewarding views after the pretty challenging climbs), the footing is tricky in multiple areas due to small sharp loose rocks. It was a great workout and we had a great time. We chose it after scratching our plans to hike in NC due to less chance of rain. None of us had cell signal for the three days we were on the trail, but that is a plus to me. We hiked Sunday to Tuesday, only seeing three people early Sunday, and no one else the rest of our hike. Loved getting to cool off in the stream at the end of each day, and grateful for the - very basic but functional - showers in the bathrooms at the entrance to Alber Pike Park.

The first place to cross the river is close to the parking lot. Watch for red stripes hanging from the trees. Also, there is a tree with double white marking. Look on the opposite side of the river to see the trees with blue and white markings. After the first crossing follow the white markings. In difficult places like camping sites look for red stripes. The second river crossing is marked by red stripes and tree with double white markings.

The entire trail is an ATV trail. Will return during leaf-off when the views will be better. Walked down the trail to the campsite where someone had left their tent unpegged and also left a bunch of garbage in the fire pit. The views, once you reach the roost, are beautiful, but not worth the atv hike in the summer. Lots of wildlife and am eager to return in the winter.

Great family friendly trail with lots of sights and activities packed into a short hike. Fun and beautiful.

A quiet, easy trail with some nice scenery.

I love this hike! I go all the way around! You can hike the creek bed. Along the waterfall.
It is busy at times. But, overall it is a great place to hike.

Going in as one of my favorites! The cliff rocks. The foliage. The lizards. The cave! The lake! It is definitely a moderate hike. Steep in places. Close to the edge in others. Loose rock, so good shoes needed. It is very worth the time tho.

Beautiful scenery, good workout with some elevation changes. Very rocky, be sure to wear shoes with good tread, especially if it has recently rained. My favorite trail at Petit Jean so far. Went on a Friday afternoon in August (very humid, obviously, but not too crazy hot as it is very shaded), didn’t see any other people at all.

Very fun and warm afternoon. The hike is mostly shaded with a very well maintained and well marked trail. The trail is moderate but may be hard for anyone with knee issues as a lot of the trail consists of rock making a staircase.
The trail starts at Mather Lodge, we parked in the parking lot, used the nice bathrooms in the lodge and then started the hike. We did take an offshoot trail marked bear caves which extended the hike a bit. It took us one hour to get to the falls and back. There are nice rocks by the falls to have a picnic or rest for awhile.
We didn’t see any snakes but when we got back to the trailhead a woman spotted a snake and screamed, we were happy to be done with the trail at that point.

Great little hike. The beginning was a little boring but the falls were a spectacle to see. Also the cave was a little creepy as it was getting dark later in the evening.

Round trip: 3miles
Elevation gain: 846ft
Time: 1hr 5min

Long hike to get to the Goat trail, but it’s worth the trip. We arrived at 6:30am to beat the heat. Being the first ones on the trail there were tons of spider webs, just like many others have mentioned. We also saw a small snake.

Round trip: 7.3miles
Elevation gain: 2,014ft
Time: 4hours

on Bench Trail

Easy hike under the tree canopy. Saw a deer on the trail as well as squirrels, plenty of birds, lizards, and only one snake (which was fine with me)

been here once, talk about beautiful!

Have to say this trail was a bit of a disappointment after the amazing trip on the rim trail. To me it was too much like walking up my dirt road. Saying that it was wide and relatively easy and I wasn’t as worried about seeing a snake. There aren’t a lot of views on the trail but there is lots of history. Would love for the park to someday bring some of that history to life. I did find that part interesting. Was surprised to see Fern lake on the path but really wish they would consider cleaning it up a bit. All in all it is a good workout just not as exciting since their weren’t as many views. I did love getting a view of the rim trail to see how high I was the day before.

We hiked this trail last weekend. It is by far one of my favorites. So many beautiful views even in the middle of summer. There was just enough challenge without being too hard. I don’t recommend bringing pets or young children to this one but is absolutely AMAZING!

very easy trail, mostly sidewalk, then when you get to the falls you can climb over rocks and get right up to it, there's a really nice cool breeze on a hot summer day.

Beautiful trail, there are several loops for all skill levels. Take the bottom trail to the falls, you can easily walk right up to the bottom of it.

Any area along Richland creek offers great trails and beautiful scenery from the wooded area's to the multiple waterfalls. Falling water, Twin falls, and six fingers falls to name a few. This is a must see area if you've not been dont miss out anymore

I wouldn't call it a hike because all 0.2 miles of the path is on wooden planks but the waterfall is really gorgeous. Definitely worth checking out and getting in the water for a quick cool down.

Beautiful trail.Very easy, yet enjoyable for all skill levels. I did this after a pretty heavy downpour and the trail wasn't slick or dangerous. Great trail for the summer when you want to jump in the water for a quick cool down then hop right back on the trail and keep going.

Great trail but a little overgrown.

The views were simply amazing. Waterfalls, caves, wildlife ❤️

The view is nice, but getting there is something else. The gravel road up to the trail is in poor condition. There were some rocky trenches in the road making it inaccessible to some vehicles. There is currently no parking area. There are a couple giant piles of gravel on each side of the road, one before and one after the trail. The trailhead is not distinguishable by vehicle. Just park near the trailhead (GPS) and locate on foot. Most of the path is also becoming overgrown with poison ivy, which may be a problem for some. I think taking the rest of the trail up there would have been better. I prefer hiking up difficult and rocky inclines over driving up them.

Nice easy hike. Good trail to start your hiking season on.

Great trail. If you have bad knees I would be cautious most of this train is lost on large steps and large lost rock!

The hike there and back is not easy but the falls!!!! What a spectacular bluff. So much larger than I’d imagined. It was like walking into a cathedral, it creates a magical space to be in. There was only a trickle, but it was still beautiful. There is poison ivy around on most of the trail, but also so many lizards and butterflies. The way back up is serious with large rock steps and large rocks to climb on the way.

Beautiful fall !!
