As mentioned in other reviews, we arrived to a path blocked by barbed wire and a no trespassing sign.

This is a really well maintained trail! I would come back again. Make sure to reserve your campsite ahead of time. There are only 4-5 sites total.

Worth the hike. Downhill going in. I recommend a walking stick for climbing down the rocks.

HikingGreat!

Lots of thorns so be prepared for scratches. Wouldn’t hurt to knock the thorns and limbs away while on the trail. It’s easy to lose the trail. When you get to the waterfall (left side if you’re above the waterfall looking down over the waterfall) go up the hill and left of the big tree, don’t try to go down to the right to the rocky overhang it’s dangerous. If you go over the rocky overhang there’s an easy trail to the bottom of the waterfall. There are markings on the trail but they’re a bit scarce and the trail is almost a bushwhack. The falls are awesome though!

we started from the over look and hiked to the rock house cave with our two year old and our 4 month old. Id rate the portion we did as intermediate but very beautiful none the less. This was in my top three favorites south of the ozarks.

We got off the trail and explored a lot which was the best part. Really cool rock formations and beautiful scenery.

Terrific trail, plenty of water. Was not difficult. Would rate it as intermediate, not hard. Lots of things to see, almost no bugs, quite a few people, and I packed out too much trash. Make sure to take the detours to see the caves and falls.

A nice steady incline on the way back to the trailhead. This is a high traffic trail and it shows. The trail is beat down. Lots of trash and clothes along the timber line near the parking area. Glory hole is def a sight to see but the trash and debris is off putting.

HikingGreat!

Trail is well maintained and easy to access from town. The trail itself is not very challenging overall, but there are lots of different routes to make the distance a longer. Sounds of the highway are present from the trail head side of the mountain. Oertal Trail adds distance and incline. I recommend ending the route via the Dogwood Spring trail to avoid the highway noise. Several spots to enjoy the view and sun. Lots of people along the way. Fill your water bottles with the water from the Happy Hollow spring before you drive up the mountain.

There are many trails so it can get confusing and at the start I was a little disappointed because there were lots of people and it was in town, but wants you got up on the trail the rock formations were great.

Not a “destination hike” in terms of views or anything, but it is unbelievably pleasant this time of year. Blooming flora, birds chirping, eagles soaring overhead, interesting rocks, colorful insects and plants to look at... just an extremely nice sunny-day walk.

Loved this hike! Plenty of spots to park on the side of the road, even on a Sunday afternoon. Definitely veer off the path and check out the smaller waterfalls along the way!

Best Great casual hiking in the middle of the city. Nothing super strenuous and enjoyable. The best part is you can walk up to trails straight from the central street of the city and return back without having to drive (to drive us an option too and plenty of parking along the way)
