so amazing

Great hike! Beautiful views. It is definitely a challenge. Would do this hike again

I have never gone hiking before and this was actually my first. So for newcomers like me, I would suggest moderate level of fitness, 2-3 full bottles of water, and shoes with good traction.

I came during February, so the weather was amazing, would not recommend this trail during the summer time. The climb down is a lot easier and faster, but be careful, because it is much easier to slip up going down.

My dog got lost and we never saw him again. The kids were very sad and a lot of tears were shed for Peanut, our lost dog

With Michael josh and jay

13 creek crossings and very rocky and so difficult to run second portion. The water is low and someone can stay dry despite all the crossings. The trails becomes more of a power hike after leaving the canyon floor. The maiden pools are worth the stop.

I would recommend this trail for little kids. We went with a 2 year old and he did fine.

This trail is great for a cardio workout! I recommend shoes with good grip as coming down the trail can be a little steep. The trail can be a little crowded with groups but I don’t mind. I do this trail at least once a month as a conditioning hike because it offers so much in the way of physical training. And the view from the top can’t be beat!

Agree 100% with previous review. Felt exactly the same way

great hike. awesome views throughout. good elevation after first mile. we hiked to the second pool and we had it all to ourselves

We connected up to Piestawa Peak from this trail and went up for the view, beautiful trail. To the peak it was def hard but freedom was moderate and worth the trek.

we got on the trail around 7:00am, which was great because we had the waterfall and overlook to ourselves! saw a number of people on the way down.

This trail was a great challenging trail for beginners . Beautiful view once you are at the top. Went around 8am- not very many people .

Great first hike in AZ.

Not well labeled. More for mountain bikers than anything else.

A very rocky trail boot/hiking shoes of some kind needed. Worth the hike after some snow/rain lots of small waterfalls. Trail has shaded parts. Beautiful landscape within the canyon. Hiking pole/stick a plus. If doing the whole length of the trail use a camelbak as there are areas where you need to climb slightly. Be safe have fun and enjoy yourself on these trails.

It's an easy walk up to great views. This is my kids' favorite hike.

The Hike was nice and not super hard, however we came back to a broken car window and a stolen purse. We read reviews before we came of car break ins so it seems common. There were a few other cars reported broken into the same day. Just do t leave anything out in the open there.

Great trail with nice views and piece of history. Good, easy to follow trail most of the way. There are a few spots that get a tad slick or steep but overall trail is very manageable. Nice shaded break area at the turn around by the water fall. Will not disappoint, travel safe.

What started out as a thought for a nice 2-4 mile hike on a beautiful January day turned into a determination to reach “The Window”, but I was not prepared for the length and physical endurance it requires. First, I did not pack near enough water and I made the mistake of not having breakfast or taking any fuel to keep my body going. While I barely made it to the top due to this and the fact that the Ventana trail splits and you need to take Esperero up and then follow the ridge to the “Window”, which was not clear to me, but out of sheer determination I made it! The descent was formidable and as I reached the last hours my body was exhausted! Luckily for me some other hikers shared water and cliff bars with me allowing me to make it back. Beautiful views of the valley on both sides of the mountain once you summit.

We got off Phoneline accidentally and ended up picking up the Phoneline Link trail which was beautiful with many different types of cacti and leafy trees providing shade. Nice climb up switchbacks with views. We had to travel down Phoneline about 1/2 mile to reach Blackett’s TH, but it makes a nice loop. Steady climb, avoid in high heat. Summit is marked by a sign but views at the top do not really surpass what you see on the way. Still a great workout and fun to summit. Loop added an additional 1.5 miles for a total of 7.5 miles and 1800 feet of climbing.

Nice loop.. pretty gradual. Lots of options to summit.

Well maintained trail, steady climb and views make this a great trail when exploring the west side of the park. Be sure to do the loop to see all parts of this beautiful hike. Close to 8 miles if you loop vs 6 for out and back on King Canyon Trail.

good workout. beautiful views! a bit busier than we expected but still a great hike.

Wow those views make the slightly perilous conditions worthwhile! Rain a few days earlier made the rock faces very slippy!

Be careful and wear good shoes and you are in for one hell of a view

Santa was at the top near Christmas time with a tree he brought up. Google it and you can read the news article.
Helpful to note:
Parking is difficult. Uber drivers can’t drop you off right at the trail head but you can’t park right at the trailhead either. An Uber can still drop you off close and you can walk down the street to the trail head with no problem.
Toward the top I used my hands to help myself up the rocks. It wasn’t just a steep walk.
Look for the blue dots painted on the rocks to see the path. There’s also a lot of people on the trail you can just follow.
It’s great for experienced hikers. It felt really short but really steep to me.

We planned for 3.5 hours because of some of the reviews but we kept a pretty quick pace and hiked it in 2.5 with a quick, maybe 20 minute, lunch break at the “waterfall”.

One of my favorite hike in Tucson. My one year old son and I hike on 12/31 and it was beautiful, lots of flowing water and the falls was beautiful. If you are planning on hiking with a Baby make sure to bring hiking sticks they are very handy when you are coming down hill.

great nighttime hike.
