A natural place to hike, you can be a beginner like me or an experienced hiker like the rest of the world I seem to be running around with theses days ! Yet, all can enjoy this trail. I stop half way up & then take in the surroundings. & head back. I’ve got a good 2 miles in for the day and I am pleased Tina Hillstrom

Great trail, it starts easy then gets pretty steep. It is a well marked trail with many beautiful views along the way. I have taken my kids up this trail! It costs $$$ to get in the park. I believe it is $6 per car so load up all your friends for better value!

I love this hike but the road going in makes me nervous. I don't trust drivers and have seen too many bad accidents so be careful driving in and watch traffic ahead. I know that sounds easy but you have no idea what I've heard in my lifetime. Anyway. the hike is beautiful throughout. The rocks are beautiful, well marked and maintained trails. Towards the end of the hike, some of the markers fell down and I tried to fix them but didn't have the manpower or equipment. My fitbit showed that the trail was less than 4.50 miles. The first 1.20 miles are all uphill. That's the tough part. Just take your time. The rest of the way is pretty much switchbacks and up and down. I think this trail should be marked hard. Anyway, going down is fine if you watch where you step. Step on the dirt, not the small rocks. It took me 2 hours and that includes taking pictures and talking to strangers and helping the find a different trail.

One of my favorite hikes in Arizona. It is a very good hike for training and learning hiking fundamentals only lacking trail blazing and rock scrambling (basically where you have to climb because it is to steep) it’s also very good at teaching foot placement and is a fun and beautiful hike in general. I recommend going early in the morning during winter for an optimal hike and make sure that you bring hiking boots and at least one liter of water (I’d recommend 2 just in case) also have at least two and a half hours to spare if it’s your first time hiking this trail and you don’t go hiking or participate in other cardio vascular physical activity often. But if you’re an avid hiker this hike could probably be completed in an hour.

great views!!! A lot of uphill, but had plenty of places to rest and take scenic pics.

pretty easy hike. Very enjoyable.

Very cool hike. The parking lot was packed on a Saturday in November by 9 am. I had to hike from another parking lot on the lost goldmine trail just to get to the wave cave trail. Made for long return trip! Anyway, the hike is pretty strenuous unless you’re in good shape. The elevation gain is pretty intense in the last leg before the cave. Definitely worth it. I hiked in running shoes and wished I had a hiking shoes. There’s a lot of slippery gravel on the way down so be careful and take your time. The cave itself is pretty dusty. Amazing views!

Beautiful and serene with expansive views. Moderately difficult, but nothing the average hiker couldn’t tackle. Can get a little slippery at parts so wear proper footwear. Vey well maintained trail that doesn’t take to long to complete. Gets a little strenuous towards the midway to ending of the trail which will be marked, so watch of out the descent and accent back up as it’s not a loop trial. Overall one of the more beautiful hikes you will take in the valley.

I hiked this trail for the first time on Wednesday around 4:00pm and it was not at all busy we only saw about 10 other hikers. This is a tough trail in the beginning, lots of steep switchbacks. But, once you get past that part it’s a lot easier and oh so worth it for the views. It’s a gorgeous trail and it was very clean. It can be hard on the knees coming down but we took our time and I would do this trail more often if I lived closer.
My step counter was 11993, 4.4miles, and 111floors.

Do not go after 4:00. Be very careful bringing kids. It’s not an easy hike at the top. More like a climb to the cave. Takes about 2hours to get up if you are a non hiker.

beautiful trail. towards the halfway point is a steep downhill portion of the trail that you will need to hike back up. bring water and enjoy the view.

Great trail, the view was spectacular

I went hiking with my boyfriend and our dog today. He is about 28 pounds and this trail was not difficult at all for him, especially being his first time hiking. There are some steep short ledges that can be scary when a biker comers around the corner. Make sure you keep an eye on your pooch as there are many cacti along the trail. Great day!

Awesome trail but definitely not easy! This is my first official hike, I don’t know how but I MADE IT TO THE TOP. A big shoutout to my group who encouraged me to do it!

A ranger suggested we go up the right trail and come down the left trail. I am so glad we did. The right trail has a lot of elevation gain and I was tired when we reached the top. Beautiful view. Coming down the left trail was easier...since there is less elevation decline. My dog enjoyed the hike and the many new friends that she met. Since there is little shade, it could be a better winter hike. Enjoy.

Used to be my favorite trail—beautiful and solid workout. Nowadays it suffers from far too many visitors on it’s narrow trail and too many off-leash dogs and owners who don’t pick up their dog’s poop.

Pretty easy hike. Other reviewers are right, lots of cacti over the trail, especially at the end. It’s not that hard to navigate safely through it though. Got a lot busier toward 9-10am as we were exiting. Pretty views of the lake and a few tree overhangs but not much other than that.

There is a lost dog, she is tan colored, about 50 pounds, long haired, possibly a shepherd or husky mix. She was spotted here about an hour ago. If you see her, please call her owner- Jon @ 480-593-5029. She is posted as missing in the Next Door App. Her name is Sierra, she is skiddish and has been missing since Friday. Thank you.

Definitely hard trail. Steep at the end going up and down is rough with a lot of loose rocks. But the cave is amazing! Our family loved it!

Went hiking with wife, kids, and cousin on our first long distance hike of the season to practice building up distance endurance. Only thing that was really disappointing with this trail is how the desert plants are not kept trimmed back from the trail and it can be tricky (and painful) to maneuver through some areas of the trail. Lots of great wildlife to be found along the way and the view of the lake is worth the trip out here. No horses or rattlesnakes today, but my daughter found a tarantula of decent size which was a pleasant surprise for us.

Amazing hike. A lot of people on a Sunday but everyone very friendly going up and down. The park ranks it a black diamond however I have hike way way harder black diamond trails throughout AZ.

Great trail!

This hike is NOT MODERATE! Starts out flat but as you progress to the cave this incline gets steeper and stepper, rocky and rockier. I can’t call a 45 degree incline moderate. But it’s worth the effort, great cave and view.

This trail definitely borders on hard. The last 1/2 mile will challenge you with large rocks and a steady incline. The reward at the end is incredible. As noted by others, park in the first lot you see once you hit dirt. There is another trailhead past the first lot. You will need to walk through.a gate that should be marked with a wooden sign. We had to secure the sign with some extra wire as it had fallen down. Other hikers told us they missed the sign and spent an extra hour looking for the cave. This trail is dog friendly but is challenging for them as well.

Great hike to get your heart pumping and see some lovely views in a short time frame. My kids love it but it might be a little challenging for younger kids or adults with balance problems. It's also too tight and busy for me to want to take a dog.

Amazing views from the peak. Had hike at just over 4 miles. Very rocky but not difficult. Go early as it becomes very busy with runners and dogs late morning. I started at 6:30 and hit lots of traffic on my decent.
