Decently challenging hike to the fire tower. It’s very dry but still a few wildflowers along the trail and great views even with the smoke coming across from California.

The hike of a thousand cuts! This trail was overgrown with thorny bushes, so you may want to wear hiking pants rather than shorts. Other than that, this was a great hike with minimal hikers.

HikingGreat!

Great hike! There were quite a few people out, which is to be expected for a nice Saturday. Trail is not real technical, good solid elevation gain but very doable for most. I consider myself in decent shape and total time round trip was 4 hours. The day was just about perfect for weather and conditions. Very nice and awesome view at the top! If you’re considering it, do it!

since I have moved out here I have loved the mountains of the Flagstaff area. Unfortunately recently ii had a terrible personal experience. I am 65 and just loving hiking these trail's. I do Crossfit and even work at at another gym. Anyway, once in a while you have to check up on on you're own health. Turns out I had a blocked artery to the heart, which runs in the family. Needless to say I did a climb on a Fridat and the next day I ended up having to be resuscitated 3x that Saturday. I was transported via helicopter to Banner Thinderbird and I an just getting started getting on my feet. Just a precautionary tale, please, any family history have it checked out by your doctor. I am purely lucky to be alive. Be safe

Just wow! We’re from out East so every part of this hike was amazing for us, especially the big finish! Great for our dog. We went at 7am on Saturday and had the place completely to ourselves!

I made it to the saddle and that was enough for me, wish my body could make it to the peak but it was a great trail! Rocky and tough uphill, make sure you have hiking shoes.

Pretty easy trail, elevation is spread out and very manageable. Wish it was a little more challenging, but very pretty.

Beautiful hike, the last mile or so up is brutal. You keep thinking you are almost there, but you aren’t! Stick with it though, so worth it to make it to the top! Oh, and a friend told me light gloves and jacket were recommended, glad I took them! You won’t need as much water due to the cooler temps, but I would still recommend 3L of liquid and snacks

Great views of Sedona. Extended hike to canyon view which is easy to hike to, just adds 3 miles.

I rate this trail 4/5. I did this trail on a Tuesday. The first 3 miles of this trail are covered in a forest however the last 2 miles are exposed, narrow trails, and lots of boulders. Also keep an eye out for the white trail markers. Start early, bring plenty of water, no fee for parking, bathrooms at the trail head. Beautiful view at the top.

If you are ever in Sedona take some time and do this hike. I was planning just to go to the top of Wilson Mountain but at the top a young lady recommended the Sedona view point and Wow she was right it was gorgeous. The terrain is rocky most the way up, but at the top the trail for the most part is flat. I did this trail on a Thursday and started around 0645-0700. I had no problem finding a parking spot at that time, however the parking lot is small, so it can fill up quickly. Depending if it is warm, you do need to bring plenty of water. There is a fee for parking, CC only. There is a bathroom at the trail head. Oh yeah, bring your camera or phone take plenty of pictures.

Steady gain with mile 3, giving you the most punch. 1:27 from the lot to the top. Be prepared for a mostly bouldery last mile

My wife and I are relatively new to hiking and this hike was very difficult. No way around it. We are both in fairly good shape.. That being said, we are from New Orleans and only acclimated the day before so I'm sure that had a great deal of input into our experience. Our total time was 7 hours. We brought a small can of supplemental oxygen, as things get thin above 10k feet. Views were totally worth the hypoxia though. Be prepared to scramble after the saddle ( about 3.5 hours in).

HikingGreat!

Very well kept and straightforward trail. The views are well worth the hike. I was there on a Wednesday morning and only saw 6 other people. My one big piece of advice is to bring sunscreen. There’s little cover and the sun is full on in the morning while the temperatures are deceptively comfortable. I would definitely hike it again.

Awesome and very doable. I’m a beginner hiker and have a fear of heights and was able to do this. It was perfect weather. Minimal wind and sunny.

HikingGreat!Rocky

Did this with a buddy on June 26, 2020. Trail notes: Started up the trail at 6AM Very diverse route up the mountain with a mix of dirt, tree roots, gravel, scree, rocks, and large boulders Really tough climb - the altitude was causing me to breathe heavily to get enough oxygen to keep moving at a decent pace. Made the summit in 4.5 hours Although I figured we would climb back down at least as fast, the return trip was a bit longer We lost the trail a few times and had to backtrack and a lot of the rocky areas were difficult to negotiate Back to the parking area by 4:15PM Total time was just over 10 hours So worth the effort! What an interesting contrast to the Grand Canyon hike that I did a couple days prior. Completely different experience for a Florida flatlander!

HikingGreat!Rocky

Great hike that is definitely worth the hard work. Took me from 8:30AM-4:30PM (3 hrs 45 min to get to the top) with plenty of rest/snack breaks along the way and a long rest at the top. Of note, the trail has rocks and/or tree roots throughout so watch your footing if you're clumsy like me. The views (and steep climbing) don't really start until you get above the tree line to the saddle and beyond. As others have said, the trail can be a bit tricky to find here and there are what feel to be about 4 false summits before you actually get to the top - so be prepared for it to take you longer than you think it will once you're to the saddle. Highly recommend!
