Intense but worth it with the views at the top!

Great workout.
Be prepared with water, correct shoes, etc.
Easy place to get hurt if you’re not careful.
Not for the out of shape person.

Took a little over 3 hours with spending time at the top, deff some tricky parts, not for The unadventurous!

Great views

Plan was to hike Wave Cave today, no parking! So......did another beautiful hike to Weaver’s Needle considering I was more than half way through the dirt road drive....First Day Of Spring!!! Lots of green :)

First hike ever and it was great. Had plenty of water and took multiple breaks. We completed this with three kids the youngest being 5.

Great hike today. Not overly crowded. started right at 5pm. perfect weather and great view!

I'm not an avid hiker... so it was a little too strenuous for my taste. I was hoping the view from the top would make it worth the effort, but maybe my expectations were set a little too high, because it was good, but not spectacular.

Great view at the top—lots of traffic. Well worth it.

Extreme in every sense of the word. They label this hike not as difficult, but extremely difficult on the trail sign which is accurate. Harder technically than the grand canyon (I've hiked from the rim to the river and back in a day), but this hike is much shorter which makes it not as exhausting. I brought hiking poles and couldn't use them on multiple sections because it is so vertical that you must climb. They did help a ton though when I could use them, especially on the way down. I started this hike at 4pm with the weather clear and in the 70's, and it took me 45 minutes to get up, and over an hour and 15 minutes to get down. Going down was much harder and I did fall a few times (one major wipe out), because it is so much harder going down a nearly vertical trail. I was wearing very good hiking specific shoes (Altra trail shoes) , had a 2L water backpack, and hiking poles, along with a lot of hiking experience, and this kicked my butt. I was not expecting something so extremely difficult in the middle of Phoenix. Do not attempt this hike if you are unprepared, or if it is extremely hot outside. Parking was not an issue at the time I went, and there were 3 rangers at he bottom of the trail prepared to answer questions and help out.

There's a lot of snow right now. During the switchbacks it gets to about 2-3 feet deep. It's a lot of fun but be prepared to trudge along on those switchbacks until you reach the saddle. Either way a good challenge and plenty of gorgeous views

Views are worth the initial climb. Not too difficult, just need to be prepared for a lot of very steep incline switchbacks for the first 1.5miles. Be careful coming down, as it can be slippery. One of my favorite in the area. Huge boulders at top make for unique views.

This is definitely one of my top favorite hikes in this area! The views are really wonderful and the terrain switches up a lot to keep things interesting. I took my two dogs who are very used to hiking and they started to get a little tired towards the last mile coming back. We went on New Year's Day so by the time we were descending it was very crowded but I am not sure if it is because it was a holiday. Driving up, there is a long stretch of dirt that is a bit rocky so I would recommend going slow or taking a larger vehicle. By the time we were driving off, the parking lot was completely full and people were parking pretty far down the road. All in all it took us a bit less than 3 hours going at a leisurely pace with a 20 minute break for food at the halfway point.

Well maintained parking lot, restrooms, and trail. Trail is mostly uphill with a few flat spots, so be prepared to climb. Views are nice and there are other trails to venture if time permits. Hawks are currently nesting so they've asked hikers to stay quiet at the top.

Challenging but amazing hike! make sure to bring lots of water and snacks!

My 58 year old body made it to the top! With my 57 year old hubby as my tour guide, we were successful in following the trail. Very well marked. Lots of great photo ops and the view from the top is breathtaking.

We did this hike over the weekend. In my opinion it's not that hard..... just really long. We clocked 13 miles total roundtrip. But most of it is flat, so it's not crazy taxing. The only real elevation gain is the very end when you climb the battleship. There are a few places where you have to do some rockclimbing. Nothing to where you need ropes, but if you aren't comfortable with 3-4 move bouldering, this hike will be scary for you. The top of battleship is worth the scramble! Gorgeous views of the superstition wilderness! I brought a gallon of water and finished it by the time we reached the car.

Difficult but so great

For reference we got there at 6:30 a.m. on a Saturday and there were only a few parking spots left. Loved the hike despite the large crowd.

Went up last weekend. Clean trails, steep in sections. Great views. Highly recommend.

very cool hike, super windy at top..but beautiful views.

Absolutely beautiful hike. Definitely a good workout. I’d say it’s on the harder side of moderate because of all the rocks. Lots of people recommend looking back, definitely do so! Breathtaking views as you get higher and higher on the mountain.

Fun and challenging hike. Right around 5 mi round trip. I’m in pretty good shape and pushed myself to get to the top and back in just under 80 min for a workout (not running). Casually this hike is more like 2.5 hrs if you want to enjoy the awesome views. Best to get there before 8 am to beat the rush.

First time doing this trail yesterday, and loved it. Definitely challenging and an excellent workout, the views from the top don't disappoint.

Great hike up and back with a lot of scenic views along the way. First mile is a little challenging but the reward is worth it.

For lots of breaks and someone out of shape, 3 hours round trip. Definitely something I have to do at least once a year. If parking wasn’t so difficult, I would go every weekend! We went around 11:30 on a Thursday and it was crowded.

The top was worth every hard step I took. I’ve heard of the staying to the left but knowing me I ended up in the rock climbing trail that was very difficult but lead me to the top. A beautiful trail with great views. Take lots of water at least 3 liters and snacks. Have fun!

Beautiful up and back on well maintained trail
