Overall: The trail was a great challenge that required some equipment-less light rock climbing towards the end. The view included was great to see especially because you could see the tips of other popular hikes. Lots of beautiful wildflowers and other shrubbery.

The hike: The weather was at a high 60 degrees, low 70s with light clouds. The climb in the beginning is clean and inviting. It doesn’t take long to have a good view of western Phoenix. There are various opportunities for beautiful pictures with a vast backdrop. There are many rest stops through the hike. The last 20-30 minutes of the hike is the toughest. It may require some light rock climbing. It took about 85 minutes to get to the top with many breaks in between. Needless to say it was worth it. It’s a very popular hike so foot traffic is abundant but the people are pleasant.

The view: Just like many hikes the view gives a 360 degree view of the city. This view is especially worthwhile because you are above other peaks so the level of accomplishment you get reaching the top is all the better. Many places to hang out and relax and soak up the view or meditate. It is busy so don’t expect to ever be the only one up there.

Amazing trail with incredible views. Can get tricky in some spots and having shoes without grip does not help. It’s definitely doable for all ages, and easier to get down if you use your butt! Regardless, worth it for the views and exercise!

Great hike! Definitely not for beginners and please don't bring your dog(s) if you plan on going all the way to the summit. Stick to the left on the way up. Views were amazing.

This was a beautiful hike. HOWEVER, before reaching the devils bridge there’s a very steep climb on rocks. VERY SCARY! I did it but I wouldn’t do it again.

I think it’s doable for most average fit people. If possible Uber to Echo Trailhead an finish through Cholla, way less bouldering on way down. Go early if possible.

Amazing view. Mentally and physically challenging but definitely worth it!!

A new favorite of mine!

This hike was enjoyable. Long, challenging, and good views from the top.

Piestewa however is not a place I see myself returning to very often. There are so many people that hike it and a lot of those people lack etiquette.

With that being said, it is very well maintained.

I enjoyed Camelback. It was challenging, and had good views. I liked climbing up the rocks!

To be completely honest, I don’t think it is super special that I’d want to drive out there often and around so many people of different skill levels. It is a good hike, but to me, it’s a little overrated.

What a challenge! very steep climb and I kept thinking going down would be more difficult, and it was. Had to remove the tri-focals to have better depth perception. I'm and avid hiker in the Rockies and this was tough for me. But I did it! I envy those that can do it quickly and are steady on their feet. I've got a new workout plan for the gym to help with that. 65 and feeling alive! rock on☺️

Nice views from the top. Stairs pretty much the whole way there. I would prefer the loop if you want to see scenery but the peak if you want to see far.

AllTrails should probably update their rating system and include expert level, because this one would definitely be that. I didn’t feel this was so much a hiking trail as it was a rock climbing trail. You were using all fours for a good majority of the last mile. That being said I’m from the Midwest and am an average hiker at best and I did feel overmatched by this trail but a more experienced hiker may feel right at home. Be sure to pack water and maybe a snack or two. Also the notion that dogs are allowed on the trail is absurd. A dog can maybe handle the first mile and a half but after that it’s impossible for a dog to go on this trail.

Short hike but good workout! lots of rock scaling.. good hiking shoes and water a must. Took 1 hour going moderate speed to get to top and 25 minutes to go down going fast. No problem with parking mid week at 10 am. This hike wouldn't be fun in the heat. Very steep sections.

Beautiful view ! Start early to beat the crowd and watch the sunrise .

amazing hike done MLK weekend 2018. view at the end is beautiful

It’s a nice short hike, pretty busy and lots of tourists. Great view. Pretty steep but not that long.

Short and easy for the experienced hiker, but diverse rock scrambles offer stimulation for everyone. A great ascent for being so close to town. Lots of traffic means plenty of friendly interactions, be patient and remember right of way rules! Early January hike meant cool temps, take that into consideration when I say it only requires .5 liters of water.

Bring a pair of gloves! I brought my fingerless weightlifting gloves and cut up my finger tips. Amazing hike! Take it easy going up there and listen to your body. I thought it would be extremely difficult, but this felt like a moderate hike for me. 3/4ths of the way up was rock scrambling. Also bring good sturdy shoes for traction. Gym shoes won't cut it.

Amazing views

Loved the challenge and the views from the top! Good traction on your shoes and a backpack with 2 liters of water are going to help you here! This trail is very crowded even on weekdays, so not the hike for you if you want solitude or don’t like lots of moving out of the way for other hikers (uphill has the right of way!) Other hikers are very friendly and encouraging.

Trail offers great views and an amazing scenery. My girlfriend and I were able to do this hike quite easily and we are not regular hikers. Going to see and experience the inside of the Soldiers arch is well worth the entire hike. The 7 sacred pools are pretty cool too. Good hiking boots/shoes are recommended since there are a lot of rocks and mud that you can step on/in. Great hike and will definitely make this a yearly trip!!

The descent is incredibly dangerous. I slipped on a boulder and was an inch away from bashing my skull into another boulder. Easily the most difficult trail in Phoenix, so be careful!

The top is amazing. Because the peak is so steep the trail is very windy so it takes quite awhile to get there, but definitely worth it. There are a lot of lookout points along the way.

Was a awesome climb and beautiful day with my
Daughter

Awesome hike! As a pretty experienced hiker, this trail was difficult because of the lack of markers. Easy to lose your way if you are not looking up to find blue and white dots throughout. Amazing views at the top! When in doubt, stay left on the way up. Gloves would be very helpful for the way down as you are rock climbing down for the first mile descend. Not for someone who is afraid of heights or is a nervous hiker. Definitely recommend this bad boy if you are in the Mesa/Phoenix area!

Great long hard hike. Best done in cool weather as it is hot and steep! There are sections of climbing and scrambling back down, not for the nervous hiker.

Beautiful view, at the end! This hike does require a lot of rock climbing and can be a bit slippery. Make sure you wear hiking shoes for good grip. There were a lot of people who brought their dog along for the hike, but they just have to be on a leash.

Climbing up the mountain was a bit of a challenge and may appear scary for those afraid of heights. I thought I wasn’t going to make it up at first and freaked out when looking back down.. but I manage to push myself to the top. Surprisingly the way down seems a lot easier.

Parking day pass is $5.

P.S. don’t follow strangers down a different path.. you go up and down the same way you came from.

Really demanding hike. Come prepared with plenty of water and hiking boots. There are times where you will face 20ft rock climbing walls. This is not a breeze in the Park but easily doable with some common sense. Heavily traffic at times. The only downside is that a lot of the trail markers are not as legible anymore or non existent in places hence why I gave it 4 stars. Beautiful 360 views. This hike is definitely a worthy feeling of accomplishment when completed. Don't give up and just go slow. Cheers.

Terrible parking, very busy trail and a lot of people don’t pay attention which makes some areas dangerous. I prefer echo.
