the hike up is definitely worth the view at the top!

Fantastic. It’s strenuous. I am in decently good shape and it was moderate to hard. It’s all uphill and a lot of rock scrambling. But views along the way and at the end are stunning. Took us 25 mins from the cathedral Rock trailhead to get to the top. Then it’ll be another 25 to get down. Everyone said to get here early because the trail is crowded and the two parking lots get full. So we got here at 8am in high season on a Thursday. The first lot was full but second lot was mostly empty. This was the perfect time to go because the trail wasn’t crowded at all and we had space to get up and enjoy the view and the weather was perfect (58 degrees). Definitely worth it!

I did the Piestewa peak summit trail. I was actually very disappointed in this trail. The entire trail up the mountain is just stairs and stairs. The scenery was just more stairs. The trail was very man made and even had railings at certain spots. This also should be rated easy to moderate. If stairs give your knees problems then it’s moderate, otherwise it’s easy. I should have just went to the gym and did the stair master for an hour. It says no dog allowed, but everyone brings their dogs.

It wasn't what i was expecting. but great trail. beautiful at the end. just be prepared for a lot of people even during middle of week.

Easy trail to hike beautiful sites to see

GREAT hike with BEAUTIFUL views! The weather was perfect!

This was my first time back to hiking in while. I took my five kids, 3, 5, 6, 9, 11. The two oldest went ahead both directions and made friends along the trail. I carried the three year old most of the way, (though he probably could have walked, it just would have taken all day) and the two youngers stayed close by me. We brought a lunch and enjoyed the cool of the rocks in the shade while we ate. Then the kids had a good time exploring the rocks, climbing higher up, until it was time to go back. It was a great easy to moderate hike for me and the kids.

Love the trail and the view at the top.

pretty good, depending on where you park a good portion of the hike is like a fire road and kinda uninteresting. the views aren't as good as other hikes in the area but the photos on the bridge are cool. get there early, we finished around 8:15 and the parking lot was already starting to overflow.

great little hike with a cool view. at the top go to the left and up another rock scramble to find a more secluded area. get there early because it is going to be busy.

Easy trail with fun surprises. half way through the hike is a path to an arch with a rock fort underneath. keep going past the rock fort to find a path to get on top of the arch, the path to the top is a little tough.

One of the best hikes I’ve ever done. I went weekday early morning and it was still pretty busy.... around 12 it got intensely crowded.
The hike is so so worth the falls though, and I’d do it again any day. You just have to take care when crossing the river... as the trail isn’t marked too well in these areas! Got lost a couple of times but again, so totally worth it.

We usually do North Park but decided to do this one to have a challenge. We went Monday to cut down on the weekend crowd but at about in 9:30/10 am it was already really busy. The hike itself was nothing too hard. There are a ton of places to rest and most of the incline is fairly gradual... no real sharp vertical areas except at the very top. In all honesty I do not feel this trail is nearly as difficult as most of the reviews on here say, and the traffic through the area is bad enough i want to say the view isn't really worth it. I went all the way to the summit as a personal goal and im glad I did it once but.... I wont be taking this trial again for quite a while.

Excellent trail and wonderful views along the whole route. If you’re looking for parking it is marked as Dry Creek trail at the main road. With that said parking at the trailhead is minimal but parking on the main road works and is definitely worth the views on this hike.

If your in Sedona AZ it’s a must hike

Parking lot busy. Worth it.

There are only like 10 parking spots in a very crowded parking lot. I suggest stopping at the entrance and waiting for for someone to leave. I would consider this a moderate hike because of the rough terrain but not really any actual hand and foot climbing. It is fun because there are several things to see along the way. We did not end up doing the whole trail. This trail has great views of the red rocks and has lots of shade.

In the description it mentions a red rock pass. I did not see anything about this at the trailhead.

We got there around 9 and waited about 10 min. for a parking spot. But we planned on that and used the time to apply sunscreen. I would suggest this hike for those who consider themselves athletic. There were many people we watched go part way and then have to turn around feeling defeated. In my personally opinion the view from the top was not tons better than part way up but for me it was more about the accomplishment of making it to the top. At the top it is not flat like Camelback. It is much like the rocks you are climbing up to get there so it is hard to find a comfortable place to sit or lay. Climbing this trail is like going up stairs the whole time. I would suggest a stairmaster to train for this if desired. It is a great pretty quick workout. Be sure to wear well fitting shoes. I thought mine were till I was on the way down and my toes were pressing into the end of my shoes. Be sure to bring water.

Great sunset hike, be up at the top at least an hour before sunset.

When I first looked at this hike it stated it was an "easy" hike. It's definitely a "moderate" hike in my opinion because you're consistently walking up and there are some places where you have to walk in small crevices and walk up and over big and loose rocks.

Wear sturdy hiking boots and watch your footing. If you need to, take it slow, like we did.

The views up top are astounding, especially at sunset.

Beautiful hike! Although I would not say it’s flat!

Enjoyable hike, but crowed. Spectacular views. Rated as moderate but has sections with significant rock climbs. Used the Baldwin/Templeton routes to access the trail, added 2 miles to the hike. Avoided the crowded trail head problem.

I enjoyed this trail very much but it is not moderate, in my opinion. This is borderline "hard". Rocky and steep. Definitely not a good idea to take small children. It was right at 4 miles total out and back. Took appropriately 2 hours. Visited on a Sunday mid-morning. Quite busy but everyone was very courteous.

Great hike, but get their early. Limited parking and the trail gets crowded, particularly near the top. Last section is rocky and basically one way. Have to wait at several location for traffic to clear. Also have to wait for pics of the bridge. Everyone seems to want individual pic of friends/family atop the arch.

really nice hike! People on here said to took about 2 hours but i finished it and the connector in 1hr and 20min. But, that is just because i am a trail runner so it was not long. Only had very minimal periodical stops. Overall, nice hike. I'm more for difficulty but, this hike is beautiful non-the same. You'll enjoy it! It is worth the drive. And it is free no fee to hike it (the best pat lol)

Great view at the top—lots of traffic. Well worth it.

I am trying to get a permit for 2 of us and I can’t get thru the phone lines. I have called continuously but no answer. Any suggestions on how else I can purchase a couple nights stay for 2 possibly 3 of us? Would they help me if I drive all the way there? Please email me if you have suggestions : chapis503@outlook.com

There's a lot of snow right now. During the switchbacks it gets to about 2-3 feet deep. It's a lot of fun but be prepared to trudge along on those switchbacks until you reach the saddle. Either way a good challenge and plenty of gorgeous views

Views are worth the initial climb. Not too difficult, just need to be prepared for a lot of very steep incline switchbacks for the first 1.5miles. Be careful coming down, as it can be slippery. One of my favorite in the area. Huge boulders at top make for unique views.

Well maintained parking lot, restrooms, and trail. Trail is mostly uphill with a few flat spots, so be prepared to climb. Views are nice and there are other trails to venture if time permits. Hawks are currently nesting so they've asked hikers to stay quiet at the top.

Awesome hike!! Rocks are slippery. Be careful!! Don’t try to do any stunts by seven falls. Take tram if you have less time to hike. Checked my Bucket list
