Pretty hike, but no spectacular views! Half is easy right along the river, and half is alittle more strenuous up some hills. Good for beginner/moderate.
Great trail. Easy to follow. Beautiful views of the creek. Only .7 miles of it is really strenuous, but that’s only because it’s uphill. It’s fairly easy of a hike. Would do again.
Do not recommend going right now at all! Fresh snow on Saturday and the roads are icy. We had 4wd and made it up okay, which was misleading. The bottom 2/3 of the road was just muddy but the top part was covered in snow. No loss of traction on the way up but bad sliding down the first section on our way back down which had a lot of ice. Several 4wd cars had to help each other turn around and go back up to the trailhead and from there we went the long way down through del Rio. Most of that road was snow which was drivable with 4wd but still encountered a couple of ice patches that were barely able to navigate down. We love Max Patch though but definitely not right now.
Beautiful winter hike, low 30s going, mid 30s coming back. Trail was muddy and pretty slippery coming back due to thawing. Not sure we would have gone all the way up if it had been that muddy going. But absolutely beautiful, fun hike. Worth the last steep bit to get to William's Pulpit for the view. Great waterfall right af the beginning, a few glimpses of smaller falls heading up, then you get away from Wallace Branch and it gets very quiet. Lots of other nice views if you stop and look behind you. :-)
Absolutely beautiful in the winter! Really easy to walk with great views of waterfalls and the forest. Even with snow on the ground, the trail was clearly defined and not too slippery.
Easy, nice hike. Gradual incline. Good for beginners, watch all the tree roots in the trail.
I hiked this in the summer of 2020. Clouds obscured the view at the cliffs, but it was fun anyway. Going up and down this hills wore me out.
snow melt caused some muddiness but great views
Very easy down and up and unusual aspect of being behind the waterfall. We brought our raincoats because it was January. Probably didn't need them but we did get wet.
Amazing hike! No spectacular lookout views but we got to experience multiple types of terrain, got a little workout in, and got to pass several small creeks and one large one. Got both of my feet wet, even in hiking boots, but it was worth it! If you are looking to warm up to hiking, but still want something a little challenging this is the one for you, pay attention to the signs and you will be good to go with 0 issues. Definitely recommend it!
Amazing view at the top.Definetly recommend a 4W drive to get up to the parking lot, especially in the winter with icy and snowy conditions. We had to leave the car about an hr away - could have left it closer I guess but didn't want to leave it on the side of the road over night. We had the pleasure of having the summit to ourselves as we camped. Amazing experience to be surrounded by the night sky.
Beautiful and relatively easy walk to the top! Very short and worth it!
Beautiful today lots of snow still on upper portions after the bridge.
The best waterfall in the area.
Amazing trail! So it took us around 6 hours (stopped a lot for pictures and snacks and such). We started at 12 ish and by the time we went down, about 1.5 miles from the bottom it got dark. So if you plan on being there around 4pm and later, make sure you have a flashlight or a headlamp. It had just finished snowing the evening prior so it was fresh snow. That said, we didn’t use our crampons on the way up, wasn’t necessary. But on the way down, it was dusk and the snow turned to ice so we used our crampons. I would bring them just in case. Lastly, the weather was super cloudy and foggy on our way up driving to the trail but once you get there and you start climbing, you’re above the clouds and the weather is beautiful. Do not be discouraged by the grey skies. The peak was grey and cloudy which sucks but there were beautiful views on the way up. Happy Hiking!(check photos for pictures of the trail)
