Absolutely amazing but don’t underestimate that mountain weather. This trail is definitely best hiked during warmer months

Started at 7:30am and finished before 10am. Like other reviewers, this is a busy trail. I likely saw about 100 other hikers but still really enjoyed it. Glad I started early. The trail is really well maintained.

Doing the loop was a little sketchy coming out of the canyon, probably from the recent rain. Lots of loose rock along the trail on the way up. The rest of the trail wasn’t too difficult, lots of water crossing. Great views at the top of the trail.

The hikeing trail to the falls is in quite good shape for what is said to be "not maintained." Great, quick hike for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of LA and replace it with the beautiful sounds of running water and pretty views. Even though the waterfall is down to a trickle, it's well worth the trip.

Be smart and aware of your surroundings as the drop offs on the way there and back are steep.

There are no trash cans past the parking area. So as always, remembering to pack out what you pack in will help to keep this place beautiful.

it was a great hike!!

What a great hike. Certainly challenging. The last mile or so up the side of the mountain is the most difficult stretch. But the payoff is totally worth it.
The waterfall was beautiful.
Be prepared for multiple creek crossings this time of the year.

The trail was awesome but a little crowded. Lots of dogs too but all were behaved. Water is flowing nicely after all the rain we just had. You will need to park in the upper parking lot and hike down. The trails are maintained well and was very nice. I’ll go back again soon.

Loved the amazing waterfall! Wear good hiking shoes. We had to cross the stream a few times over slippery rocks and our feet got a little wet, but we still loved every minute of it!

Heavy traffic! Long hike down hill. Nice view , lots of water in the creek. You need hiking stick especially crossing the creek back and forth..

Amazing hike but definitely heavily trafficked

Because of the recent rain the waterfall was flowing. All uphill from parking lot to waterfall. It's definitely a medium difficulty hike going up. Very pretty views all around. No shade going up but there is shade at the waterfall. Limited parking

A great moderate hike with gentle switchbacks up the mountain and back. Beautiful views of LA city and Catalina Island. This time of year some of the trails were so pretty lined with fresh green grass. Other areas were covered in loose rock so you really have to watch where you’re stepping to avoid rolling your ankle. A lot of traffic today. Loved the views and interesting history at the top.

Great trail, made for a wonderful day. We went after a rain so be prepared to get wet if you do (4 crossings to/fro; 8 total). Not as many bums/homeless as mentioned in other reviews, couple of tents hidden at the start of trail.

Beautiful trail. Fairly easy to find but I accidentally took a private road coming back. Easy parking, clean bathrooms, great views!

Great easy trail

This was a really nice hike! The TH was a little hard to find at first, not easily visible from the highway. Once I found it, the rest of the trail was easy to follow even in the snow. The beginning of the trail had ice so I was moving at a slower pace until I passed that as I didn't have any Yaktrax. As I got higher in elevation, there was a lot more snow making the scenery even more pretty! I hiked with my dog and we started at 8:30am (I would have started earlier but couldn't find the TH) so we were the only ones on the trail for quite a long time. We stopped at an area close to the campground and relaxed for a bit before making our way back down. The TH is in between the two Mountain High Resort parking lots so Hwy 2 is jammed packed with cars!!! We drove out around 12:30pm (heading east) and the line of vehicles, heading west on Hwy 2, stretched for miles!

I've been using AllTrails for years and I have never seen a review like Emmanuel Paraskiv's. It appears that he made poor decisions, but that doesn't mean the trail deserves one star. He also refers to himself as an "avid hiker," which I have a hard time believing.

This trail is definitely more trafficked than lightly. I would put it moderate to heavy. The waterfall is beautiful. Last mile is the hardest

One of the most beautiful hikes I’ve done, by far:

Missing hiker in this area, 19yo African American male, please keep an eye out for any out of place clothing etc.

Also, parts of trail are collapsed after the rain.

Snowshoeing was incredible!

one of the most beautiful falls i've been honored to see.

these are the exact coordinates to the trailhead:
34.305323, -118.255444 (34° 18′ 19.2″N 118° 15′ 19.3″W

you need an adventure pass, parking is limited mostly just alongside the road.

there's a clear sign towards the trailhead. there's some cabins at the beginning so be mindful of noise and trash since residents live there.

follow the trail. you will hit a sign that says "trail not maintained by forest service" but it's pretty well maintained by hikers. you'll have to cross the stream a few times. depending on what time you go (whether it's rained recently or not) is how high the water in the stream will be. we never get rain in socal, but it had rained 2-3 days prior to our visit so we figured we'd take advantage and i'm so glad we did.

if you keep following the main path, it leads you to the top of the falls. there's a downward path to the right a little bit before the top of the falls that you can take that leads you to the base of the falls. someone tied a rope to help you climb down and it helps so much.

loved it so much we did it twice. we took our six month old pup and he had no problem. he loves climbing rocks and crossing streams. it really was beautiful.

Great workout!! 2.5 miles up hill to the railway. Lots of cool things to see & really awesome views. On a clear day u can see the ocean. The only drawback is that it is very crowded. But overall it’s a Fun hike! Beware of the sun! Not a lot of shade at all... great in the cooler weather. Bring lots of water.

Love this hike!! Beautiful views of the mountains & lots of shade on the lower canyons. If u go in the fall the colors are amazing ❤️

Love this hike!! Beautiful & challenging

I LOVE IT! Great trail!

So definitely heed the warning and bring microspikes or full-on crampons if you plan on summiting during the winter. hiking poles are a must for me as well. It is significantly more challenging in the winter.
