Did this hike in mid November and it was amazing. We got hit by a decent amount of snow throughout the entire hike which just added to it. The silence walking on Dream Lake with nothing but the snow falling was stunning! Definitely rent spikes.

Awesome hike! Went up in November 2018, trail was pretty icy / snowy but could hike it in sneakers (did a lot of butt slides on the way down). The fire tower is well worth the hike and then the climb when you reach it.

Getting to the trail head was very very bumpy and slow moving in some spots.

My first real “hike” in Colorado. At the start of the trail I saw so much dog poop. I am glad it wasn’t all over the trail. Once you head up in elevation the pine trees start appearing. So scenic. The waterfall was frozen but I bet in the spring it’s stunning. I’ll be back.

In this side of the park, Alberta Falls is the entrance location to most trails. It’s very pretty, but there’s definitely a lot of foot traffic.

Whenever I go hiking, I zoom right by because there’s always so many people. The further back you get into the mountains, there’s (obviously) less and less people.

Beautiful!

I was able to jog this up and down in just running shoes with a little caution. It’s gorgeous in the winter! Make sure to go the extra couple hundred feet to sprouting rock.

Fun hike near Denver. With half the population of the front range. Parking can fill up early.

Best hike ever!

This has to be one of the best hikes in Colorado. The trail head is easy to access and the trail is short but steep w/ some scrambling. I did see children on the hike so that trail is family-friendly but the steep, sharp rocks would not be ideal for dogs. I completed this hike in about 3 hours in the summer so it was fairly hot - wear proper shoes and bring lots of water. The views are definitely worth the steep climb!

Excellent views; great introduction to Fort Collins.

One the best hikes ever for our family (completed on 12/26). Totally worth every single step to a winter wonderland. Hiked with my wife and kids 12 and 6. We took plenty of stops for the kids on the way up. Some areas were icy and steep. Strongly recommend good quality snow boots with traction devices attached to them. We got ours from Summit Canyon Mountaineering in Glenwood Springs. They were worth every penny we paid.

You can’t say you’ve hiked in Colorado without hiking this trail. One of my all time favorites!!

Nice trail but a lot of road noise because it is so close to the road. Trail had little to no snow or ice on 12/25/18.

Love this trail! If you take it clockwise from the parking lot, there are some steep sections to get you warmed up then the remainder is moderate with beautiful views over Elk Meadow. Perfect for a quick afternoon local hike!

What an amazing trail! The view points are unreal. My wife and I completed this in late October and some crampons were definitely needed!

Super beautiful and incredibly easy! We went 12/21 and didn’t snowshoe. The snow was packed enough on the trail, but if you took one step off you’d be able knee deep in snow. So I’d recommend bringing a pair!

The views were flawless and it’s a great, easy hike.

Huge coniferous trees and rushing mountain brooks made this trail gorgeous all the way through. My favorite part of visiting Glenwood Springs, hands down! My mother had a bit of a hard time "going straight up", but even she said it was worth it.

As a novice mountain biker I'd say this is somewhat technical with plenty of roots and scattered large, immovable, sharp rocks that command your attention and force you to pick skinny lines. This time of year shady areas are icy. I walked short sections and had a few pedal strikes. As my skills improve I might rate it as easy, but there are a few "must moves" along the way so for beginners it's definitely. intermediate!

Hiked 12/7. This is a challenging uphill trail. We are experienced hikers from Boulder and we’re still out of breath! Must use spikes or some kind. You would not be able to use snowshoes. Totally worth the effort - we had the lake all to ourselves and it is just as gorgeous, probably more so, than the photos show. Recommend continuing up to spouting rock after visiting the lake - it’s about a 2 minute walk up to a beautiful waterfall. One thing that doesn’t get mentioned often about this trail is the canyon - it’s stunning, especially in the snow. This hike is definitely worth the hype!

This was our first time to hike Horsetooth and it was beautiful. I took my 7 and 10 year old and we all made it to the top with no issues. There are a few slick spots along the way but we easily navigated around them. Views from the top are beautiful and I’ll be back for sure

Went up yesterday 12/12/18 and although it was quite windy it wasn't to bad with the trees shielding the wind. Really easy hike with a very good snow pack conditions, all I needed was crampons. I have trouble breathing at altitude but this hike didn't leave me to much out of breath. Didn't go on to Dream Lake since I would need snowshoes and didn't bring any with me.

This was a beautiful snowshoe. It started overcast in the morning, we had some periods of snow and pretty strong winds, but in the afternoon the sun burned the clouds away and it was bright and sunny. We took our time and had some sections where the snow was over 18" deep and untrodden in a while. There were also some stretches where the wind had blown over and covered the trail, so it was wonderful breaking trail. Definitely a good day out!

long hike but well worth the veiw from the top did it in sept had nice weather

Went on a weekend in early December and the trail was packed with people. Trail was snow packed. I didn’t wear boot chains but i should have.

I went to hike this yesterday morning/early afternoon (12/7/2018) and the road we came in on was closed about 6 miles out. I did not try to loop around to the west nor did I head back east to go over and up and see if that pass was open. Beware.

Awesome hike!

My husband and I did this hike yesterday afternoon. We were surprised to see only two other cars at the trailhead when we arrived a around 12:30pm. We saw two hikers on the way to the lake and then had lake/waterfall to ourselves. I thought for sure it would be crowded and was happy to be wrong. The trail was snow packed. Visually, it looked like a winter-wonderland. The trees were lightly dusted in snow. We both had our yaktraks on and I was thankful for them multiple times throughout the hike. Definitely some slippery spots, especially on the way back down.

Love this hike! Did it in 1.5 hours with crampons - highly suggest them! There were a couple people with just boots who made it, but it looked difficult. Had the lake to ourselves :)
