The trail was easy for my husband and I to navigate with our dogs. The signs for the trails were very clear and understandable for beginners. The only issue we had was nobody put a leash on their dog and they kept running up to ours.

HikingGreat!Snow

Great experience! Hiked up to the saddle after a snow fall, was a bit of a challenge without any trekking poles but well worth the fun and view! Caught the sunset during the descend!

This is fantastic hike that is just minutes away from Anchorage. For a winter ascent I would recommend: >Trekking Poles >Ice Axe >Microspikes >Hiking with a Partner For the most part, the trail was broken-in and hard-packed. I used the trekking poles for the first 3/4 of a mile or so and then switched over to the ice axe. There were some steep segments during the final 1/3 of the hike and I would not have made absent my ice axe. The ice axe was also helpful coming down these steep segments. I would also recommend doing this hike with a partner during the winter. If one were to fall/slip on the final 1/3, they would fall/slide a considerable distance. It would be good to have someone with you. The views are spectacular. This was first my hike in Alaska and I highly recommend it! Here is a link to a short YouTube video from the hike today: https://youtu.be/4zd7erURW5c

Top was a little rough. Lots of loose rock. Whole large section of uneven stairs on edge of mountain. Climbing up the steep top was ok it was coming down that was hard. I rolled on some loose rock and I badly sprained my ankle at the top and had to painfully hobble my way all the way back.

Absolutely loved this trail. Did it in August. Great hike to the top. A bit of rocks but nothing major. Must do hike while in Anchorage!

It was a beautiful hike, a lot of snow so we didn’t make it all the way up. But totally worth the views

(Did this is early fall of last year). Solid trail, definitely feels longer when everything is covered in snow. We were lucky enough to see Denali from several spots along the trail, and the twinkling lights of Anchorage are beautiful!

Amazing after work hike. It was snowing pretty hard so visibility got low but the trail is visible all the way up.

Quite windy up there. Expect to scramble for the last 0.1 miles before the peak. Easy to get lost close to the summit

HikingGreat!MuddyRockyScramble

This was my first visit to Alaska and my group started with this trail. It was absolutely beautiful. It was muggy and rainy the day we hiked but it honestly made the views so much better. There was a lot of fog around us that made for really epic pictures. I would rate this hike as moderate. There were definately a few difficult areas, I would say the wooden stairs were challenging because it was rainy and muddy so we were slipping on the stairs which was dangerous on incline. The most difficult area was the rock climb towards the summit. Every time we thought we were getting closer to the flag at the summit we still had a long ways to go lol. But the views were incredible with all the fog surrounding us. Once we made it to the summit we were so happy. Because of all the fog, it looked like we were on the edge of the earth. It was absolutely amazing. Would definitely do this trail again if given the opportunity. The trail took us a total of 5 hours start to finish. We took much longer than most because we stopped to take pictures and we spent about an hour at the summit.
