Had a blast in the snow!

We hiked this trail on Christmas Eve. it was beautiful. The two mile main section is easy. Then there are two loops off the main section. The first loop is hard. it goes straight up the hill and is the steepest trail I've climbed (including grand canyon trails and rocky mountain trails). The second loop is moderate difficulty. Overall, it was a beautiful hike with just the right amount of challenge for us.

Great trail to hike!!!

An incredibly beautiful walk through the gorge and on the rim. It is busy from the park office to the old mans cave then all the non-hikers turn back. Once you are past the old man’s cave the number of hikers decreases immensely. It’s a beautiful, peaceful walk that has only a few moderate areas of hiking. I will definitely be back.

Was pretty nice even in the winter, would love to check it out when things are green and the ground is dryer.

Orange trail can be really muddy and slippery. Come with water resistant boots, spare pair of shoes, and prepared to fall.

Real nice trail, even in January. Great views and a good mix of inclines and creek cutbacks to make for a nice little hike. Road noise is definitely there, but it doesn't make or break it for me.

Cool trail. A lot of elevation changes. Pretty muddy in January. A lot of overlook spots.

Very good trail, you can run, hike, backpack, and fish. Friendly people go here, have never had a bad experience here.
Also I take my dogs with me all the time.

Not well marked but loved getting lost in it. The waterfalls, trails, springs... heavenly.

great trail close to town. definitely moderate with some steep inclines, you'll need boots, we hiked on New Year's Day after heavy rain and the trail was muddy and slippery. great views of the Ohio River. too bad there is so much road noise from Gender Road. Lots are not well marked but the trail is!

Everything I could hope for out of a 5 mile hike, 45 minutes from home. The moderate rating seems quite accurate, as the trail ranges from gravel fire road, to steep single track. The climbs are enjoyably tough, and the view from the overlook was great.

I just discovered this trail last weekend! It is now my favorite in Hocking Hills. It isn’t crowded, and the views are breathtaking!
It was super muddy, due to the heavy rains.
I did take my 3 year old, and baby carrier is a must as you are scaling the edges of cliffs.

When I need a quick outdoor fix, I hit this trail. It’s an easy hike, with beautiful scenery.

Great trail, I little wet this time of year. There are also a few downed trees between Cedar Falls and Ash Cave.

Just did the Harveysburg loop. It rained all night so really muddy. Would like to try it again in spring when it’s easier to get over the creek to the Ward loop. Nice day for Dec. Never saw another person even though temps in mid 50’s.

Could have been 4 stars but the dodgy trail marking (in some places its great, others is severely lacking) and virtually no trail maintenance (massive downed trees across the trail everywhere) forces me to downgrade the trail. It's a tough one with plenty of elevation change and steep grades. It zig zags across a creek so if the water is high, you'll have to look for places to cross without getting wet. The scenery is nice but nothing memorable.

Probably my favorite hike in HH! Amazing views, particularly in the fall. Lots of topography changes making the hike very interesting and fun. We took the steps up and it was a fun workout. Go early because the trail get very busy!

Excellent hike. The slope up to both plateaus is quite steep. As good as it gets for a short hike.

Another day exploring the “this is not a trail” (s) with my person.Great hike and great captures☺️ 

we've been going here for years! never knew it was considered hard

Great resource for many different trail experiences. Well kept and well marked trails, plus the visitor center is a cozy place to stop by afterwards. The children's playscape is designed nicely and a fun bonus area.

Best to be there in both winter and summer. Both are very beautiful

I love this trail. Very well marked with a lot of hills and great views. It was very beautiful to go and sit at the high point and eat my lunch before I finished my hike.

Very well maintained trail. I really enjoyed the step stones across the creek.

Beautiful overlook – the clearing takes you wonderfully by surprise. Haven’t seen a view like this in Ohio.

This hike had been on my list for awhile. Wow, was it worth the wait! The trail is well maintained and the scenery is some of the best I have seen in this general region of the state. There is definitely some terrain here, expect to do some steep climbs and descents (well, steep for Ohio!) but they reward with views from on top of some outstanding rock formations.

Nice trail, good views of the lake this time of year. Mainly a mountain bike trail. Some muddy areas today. Poorly marked. My Garmin clocked 3.2 miles.

Again a beautiful walk on the Mountain. most of the trees have lost their leaves except for the oaks. The trails were moist to wet but very manageable. The views of the Ohio River were stunning as usual. Thanks for the trail maintenance!

Sooo I loved this hike! I’m in my thirties.. very do-able. However, my two hiking buds were in their 60s annnd this was a bit strenuous for them. 100% recommend trekking poles for someone who isn’t as able- bodied or wants that extra support. I would describe it as light rock crawling lol ... muddy, sometimes slick. I’d say it was about 6 miles round trip. The trail was beautiful though! I just probably wouldn’t have chosen this trail if I knew it was going to be as challenging for those I was with. I’d also leave the pups at home... ours pull way too much for this one. I’ll be back better prepared :) and wear better footwear than tennis shoes.. I doubt this area is ever dry.
