Njhiking.com and AllTrails give the distance for this hike at 6.2, but it is actually a bit longer. Between 6.6 and 7.5 miles depending on if you do any little side trips to the ruins. That being said, it is quite beautiful, with some really cool stone ruins and varied terrain. Thankfully it was cold and the ground was frozen while we were there, as much of the trail seems like it would be quite muddy in warmer weather.

I went to hike this last week & found out that the trail has been closed since a tornado hit it earlier this year.

There’s way more to the trail than just around the lake. A lot of abandoned architecture!

We took this trail a few years ago in the summer. Ended up going up some additional trails after we came part of the way down from the Tower. Nicely blazed, great views. Can be crowded.

Did a five mile loop. Was good hike, unfortunately it rained a few days before so was a little muddy but it’s all good.

Did a three mile clockwise loop up the pipeline then back around to the right picking up the white triangle and square routes. Lots of fallen leaves so if you're not careful, or observant, you can get off trail easily. Use the app. Some sloppy areas but nothing too messy. All in all, a great hike!

The route outlined here is kind of a weird route, having you walk on the side of the road for a spell, on the beach, on the bike path, and on the dune hiking trail. Bike path, dune, and beach are good.

some great views and terrain challenges

Love it. The Tower is the best part.

It's a really beautiful trail. Plenty of parking. There was a bear sign but I didn't see any. Lots of pretty birds. I spotted some deer. Trails are marked properly. Def look at the map on the notice board before you go so you know which trail you're following. It said on average it takes 35 minutes to do 1 mile. I was able to complete the whole 6.7 miles in an hour. No, I wasn't running but it wasn't difficult. The first 15 minutes, you feel it. definitely needed water. after that it was pretty easy, specially towards the end when you're going downhill. can't wait to go back when the trees change colors.

Not impressed at all. Boring. So many other beautiful places to hike/explore.

Took the blue to red to blue loop. While not a lot of picturesque views along the way, the trail was well maintained and offered some nice foliage. The first couple of miles parallels the river, which is fast moving with some waterfalls and rapids. Great hike overall!

Logged 5.21 miles on this trail—lots of greenery, big rocks, and very well marked. Our dog loved it!

Pretty trail, saw lots of wild life (deer, rat snake, frogs, toads). Wasn’t over populated which was nice. Easy enough for dogs and children. Wouldn’t rate it as moderate for the experienced hiker. Did the longer outside loop, well worth it.

great cardio not too hard not too easy rocky areas are not killer but definitely bring up a good sweat, excellent views very picturesque natural water flow through the mountain. recommend bug spray, very friendly people.

I really enjoyed this hike. I loved being fully immersed by nature. I saw lots of birds, squirrels, and a small deer. It was quite steep in some areas, and very rocky. The trails got pretty confusing at some points, but that just added to the adventure. I was able to use this app to help me out when I was stuck. My phone recorded closer to 6 miles, not 6.7. Overall, it was a lovely afternoon.

The Mill is an interesting thing to see, and tours are available. Behind that you can locate the trail along the river. Couldn’t make it to the falls this go-round as due to the recent rains much of the trail was muddy and very hard to cross. There’s boards and planks along the way that are probably pretty useful, but were just buried in the mud this time. Will visit again in dryer conditions.

Nice hike, pretty clean park. Got alot of rain recently so mosquitos were out in force but will do it again. Several campsites as well. We stayed at Mootry lookout and Danbury looked pretty good from up there.

Great for biking!!

Trail was not marked at all so very easy to get lost. Still an enjoyable walk with some great views of the reservoir.

Easy hike but watch for copper heads in the summer. Also good for running if you want a challenge

Moderate very rocky nice clear walking area though, however missed the turn down to res but kept walking down coop. It’s good if you can find the right path and there is. I wash always.

Could be nice. Be careful at the very beginning some asshole broke a bunch of glass. Ny dog almost got cut

not actually a loop. not well maintained

Did it in the rain so me and a friend had the whole trail to ourselves. Easy trail to navigate and not too challenging, other than the river and a small waterfall there isnt much to see, still a nice quick weekend hike.

One of my new favorite hiking places! We hiked on the red trail which was the river trail, led us right to a stream and then the gorgeous River, lots of falls and streams, and I love how the picnic tables are placed all over the trail on the river, we packed a lunch and literally ate on an island on the stream near a waterfall.. We will ref be coming back!

Heavily wooded moderate trail, one of the better ones in central jersey. Definitely a little rocky but the inclines aren’t anything difficult. Extremely muddy when wet but consists of about 5% wooden walkways, mostly over the muddiest portions.

Took the square trail to the red and back to the square with no connectors. Always a great afternoon hike — takes a little under 3 hours for the entire loop if you don’t stop often. Trails are well maintained but can get a little sloppy when wet.

A good place with kids. A few downed trees to climb over. Otherwise fairly easy. There’s a nice clearing for a picnic.

Lovely trail and a good walk. Great for experiencing the seasons! If you're into hiking year round- this trail is great. Awesome views in summer and spring, beautiful in the fall, and great to experience winter. Common place to see dog walkers and joggers as well as waterfowl!

The hike to the reservoir itself is a straight shot of
