Awesome Trail done 6 days ago right before winter hit full force. Trail was easy to find and follow, it was a steep climb for a short amount of distance but well worth it for the views at the top of Abraham Lake and David Thompson highway.

We did this on November 10, and it was amazing. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and there was very little snow. If there was more snow it would definitely not have been as enjoyable.

Did this in early October. Super tough hike, up mountain right away. Every blood, sweat, and tear was worth the views. Not a kid friendly hike! Make sure you have good hiking gear for this one, poles are nice for coming back down as the scramble is slippery.

Great hike. Few tough areas but some great views towards the top. Kids would have some troubles along the way, the cave could easily be missed. Keep your eyes open! Would be good till the snow flies!

This is so far my Favourite hike! Done it twice now and both times were just as amazing. Tiring trail for the young Lab but she conquered it with us carrying all her own food and water. So many different terrains, quiet trail and fantastic views throughout the entire hike! Will do it again and again.

Oct 21 - Although the weather felt like the first week of September, the trails were 95% dry. This is a STEEP hike. Leg burner for sure. I wouldn’t recommend it for beginners but it is a doable day hike. We took a right (left takes you to the lake) at about the 4km mark up to the ridge. The fork is poorly marked. Getting up to the ridge is all loose shale or a scramble up big rocks. The 360 views are worth it. Next summer I’d like to hike up and camp over night at the lake.

We hiked HooDoo Valley last weekend and loved it! We thought we lost the trail at one point and decided just to follow the creek bed and it turns out we went the right way! The caves at the top were amazing but definitely take a flashlight because it is dark. This hike took us 3.5 hrs including stopping to eat at the caves. I would totally reccommend this trail! So beautiful. We saw a few sheep on the hillside but other then that no animals. The view of Abraham Lake as you are hiking is amazing as well. There was some snow covering the scramble up to the caves but otherwise was fairly clear.

My son and I went up today. Great hike for sure. Cave was highlight. Find it beyond tall hoodoo up to the right. You'll see ribbon on tree branches marking the climb up. Bring a flashlight.

Was beautiful! I’m not an experienced hiker (nor do I work out) but I managed to make it to the top have lunch and back down in 4hours. Pretty steep and loose rock. Friend went up in tennis shoes and he didn’t struggle.

Steep but very manageable hike. You can do this hike easily in an afternoon. There are great views along the way and the lake at the end is beautiful. We did this hike in late September and didn’t see another soul, but did follow some cougar tracks for about half the hike, so make sure you bring your bear spray just in case.

Even the false summit has amazing views! Worth every second of it!

Lovely hike but gets extremely hard aproximately 6 km in. Hard to navigate with no defined trail, ended up going the wrong way and turning around. I think best navigated with guide or someone that has done it before.

one of my favourite rides.

Great little hike. Not too steep or far, just enough to get you working a bit harder. Plan to spend some time at the lake at the end or overnight!

Awesome hike! Stay a bit closer to the left side up the scramble and it’ll be easier on the trail. Stuck to the trail once 3/4 of the way up so it was a bit more of a scramble the whole way. Closer to the edge though so we had views almost the whole way up! Good marking up the mountain as it got steeper. Gorgeous 360 views at the top are worth it.

Great hike, definitely steep all the way up. It’s short, but it takes a lot of energy! Great views at the top though, totally worth it.

Definitely a hard hike/scramble. Trailhead starts to the right of the parking , past the creepy dumpster on stilts. . I’m a beginner hiker who’s fairly in shape , this hike had my knees trembling on the way down thanks to loose rock all of the way down except the first 1/8.. My hubby and 9 and 5 year old did it like it was no big deal. The views are spectacular but very scary for those afraid of heights, I may or may not have cried when I saw how high we were getting even before the scarves. Took the ridge side down and had to ladder crawl down 90% with my gf who’s an avid hiker. Definitely recommend hiking boots (I only had my runners) and wear sunscreen , you’re not in the trees for long. Bring more water than snacks and a piece of paper to leave a note in the geocache. We did 3 hrs to the top and 2 down with minimal breaks. Fitbit clocked it at approx 13,000 steps and 213 floors. Not saying I’d do it again but Well worth the view ! Happy Trails!

The hike up to the hoodoos was straightforward and easy.... slightly underwhelming. If you continue on passed them and up to the caves, that is the real gem on this hike for sure!

A nice day hike. Looks like recent landslides have went through this area. Some of the trails through the trees on the left hand side of the creek dead ended. Maybe due to the landslide activity. We ended up turning around and going back up the creek from the 2 tall hoodoos. Found the first cave eventually which turned out to be quite interesting but definitely a scramble up and down in the scree to get to it.

Really nice hike, steep in spots. Had my 9 year old son with me and he carried a 21lb pack with him with no issues. Take the time and camp up near the lake. Will do this again for sure.

Did this about a month ago, it’s a fun hike! It is steep in some areas and there is a bit of loose shale the entire hike so do be careful. I didn’t get far enough to see the caves unfortunately. The trail head is a little bit confusing so when you park and see the creek to your left, you can follow the creek up or just to the right of it is the actual trail. The views are amazing. Also I brought my dog with me and she managed just fine. Had to lift her onto a couple of bigger rocks to keep going but nothing to scary for her. Took about 3 1/2 hours to do (including stopping for a snack) Give it a try!

If Vision Quest down the road is rated as 'Hard', this would be considered extreme for new climbers. The trail was either washed out or non existent, but the goat/sheep trails were spectacular! It was a steep incline the whole way up with 70% or more scrambling....and we wouldn't have had it any other way. Such a blast with extremely beautiful views to top it off. Don't turn back, it's worth it!!!

Amazing views the whole way up to the geocache, but it's definitely worth it to go the rest of the scramble to the summit. Trails were well used and visible with lots of other hikers.

Rated as moderated but would definitely say it’s “easy”. Done this a couple times, and both times were fairly busy with horses and ATV’s. It’s an easy trail walk into the lake. Good to do with kids or the family!

Decent hike with some scrambling and a little bit of climbing. Proper footwear is a must, poles and gloves to protect your hands are a good idea. The trail isn’t well marked but you can basically take any way up that suits your level. Try to stay to the left towards the top to make it to the peak. After you park on the lake side of the highway in the large parking lot, you cross the road and can see the trailhead easily.

Great hike, incredible views! Very steep, would recommend hiking shoes.

Great hike with amazing views. Not a busy trail which was nice.

Nice easy trail with some fun creek drainage bouldering toward the top. Left trailhead at 9:45am and our group was the 2nd group up. Great little scramble to the enormous and cool cave at top. By the time we finished lunch and we’re headed down, the trail was packed with hikers. (Stopped counting after 70). Good views, but take a flashlight for the cave.

Pretty casual hiking up to the hoodoos, from there you could continue up the creek to the cave. We decided to ascend the slope to the south, there’s a bit of a trail to start and then you’ll have to scramble up some shale but when make it to the top of the ridge the view is incredible.
