Difficult and seems longer than the 4.6 miles in due to the constant steepness of the trail. The map of elevation gain on here isn’t correct. I was still gaining long after the map said I should be going down... Few breaks from the steepness of the trail. Hard to find the trail in some places because it looks like it could go multiple directions, and people have gone more then one route. I found myself rock scrambling on the side of a cliff on the way up, then noticed a (still steep) but safer way back down. This hike made me acknowledge the true value of trekking poles, especially for the hike back down!

Great hike
Harder than expected but it was raining!!
Soaking wet and would have paid handsomely for
a dry shirt at the top!

Really difficult and such an incredible view at the top. I saw two bears along the way.

It was a little wet, but worth it.

One of the best hikes I’ve taken thus far. The views are incredible from start to finish. Highly recommend to anyone to go the extra 20min to see the glacier. No signs of bears just a few goats. If you’re there mid-August pay close attention to the giant raspberries in the bottom half of the trail, delicious!

Nice simple hike. Bring shoes you can get wet if you want to reach the falls

Rainy and pretty chilly day. Up there, view was very nice even with the clouds. Did it with son and daughter (10 and 6) and by the end children were exhausted.

Easy and quick family friendly hike. Definitely recommend this one.

Great bike ride!

Great hike. The first 3/4 is realistically moderate the last 1/4 is hard, but completely worth the view. The trail has a couple routes you can take as well. Great way to see the town of anchorage. Wind can get crazy but it’s fun. Well traveled so you won’t be alone

Great trail, pretty easy but amazing views.. lots of water and big waterfall!! Glad I got to explore Alaska trails!!

Spectacular hike, with amazing views :) When it came to the fork in the trail we went right, which was a good decision for us. It is a bit longer but not as steep of climb! Then on the way back down we came the other way which was nice cause we were cold and wanted to get down faster. Overall it took us 3.5 hours which included a decent break when we ate lunch :) Trails are kept nicely and other than the first short section, the trail is nice and open so no chance of running into bears.

Gorgeous Hike, not a real clearly marked trail. There is a better trail that I cut up on the saddle but I’m not sure where this started. The only reason this received a 3 star rating from me and not higher was that it’s marked as moderate and the top mile is some pretty gnarled rock crawling and scree. Not undoable but not somewhere I’d bring a novice or kids. I did see the obligatory ptarmigan and about 6 moose, one cow calf pair that prompted a 150yrd retreat back up the trail as they were using the portion I needed at that particular moment. All in all a great hike!

Nice easy start then quite the “goat climb” to the top beautiful views all around saw a Dall Sheep that crossed the trail ahead of me. 6 Bald Eagles circling over head and a huge bull Moose off in the distance

Straight up you go but worth the views at the top. Cloudy day but could wait a minute as the clouds passed in and out for clearer views. Saw no bears. A memorial bench about 1/3 the way up and abundant wildflowers about 1/2 the way up where you can expect a short break in the steep elevation climb. 2 and 1/2 hours up and 2 down with a stop for lunch on the way back.

Amazing views from the top and is challenging getting back down over the rocks. Fantastic hike!

It was pretty but a short hike.

This was a difficult trail. Pretty much straight the whole way up with few switch backs. Trail was not super well marked at times but was still fairly easy to follow. Worth it for the incredible views at the top. Lots of flowers blooming when we hiked (end of July). Took up about 5ish hours total. Definitely glad we brought snacks and plenty of water.

Great trail. Tough

August 1, 2018
Foggy but beautiful! 3 or 4 amazing waterfalls and the cabin is super cool as well. Next time I’m for sure going to check out the glacier on the right. No bear sightings and no bear poop

Nice waterfall. The upper viewing platform has the best view of the falls. The lower trail gets you closer and is much cooler near he river.

July 29. Great hike with amazing views. Give yourself plenty of time and bring plenty of water. If you plan to make it all the way to the end, be prepared for a narrow trail on the ridge next to a steep scree slope that requires a bit of scrambling. The descent is quite rough on the knees. Overall great hike. Enjoy!

July 27. Awesome hike. When you reach the fork in the trail, I would recommend going right towards Crow Pass for better views.

On this trail you see several waterfalls, the lake at the top, and don’t miss the glacier shortly past the lake. We also saw a black bear in the valley. Great hike.

Beautiful hike lots of atvs and bikes but they all slowed down for those of us who where walking.

Beautiful! Gorgeous day. Kids had a great time. Views were exellent. Didn't make it the full 25 miles around the lake but had a great time nonetheless.

Nice easy hike with fall and Gorge views. We stoped by Mirror lake adjacent to hike as well.
