There was at least 6 inches of powder everywhere on the trail. Take spikes for the first 1.5 miles up to the turn. Recommend taking snowshoes for after the turn as not many people are going up that route, so there's even more powder.

Great view and simple walk to the viewpoint.

Went in aug. Was so fun with the dogs! Love the alpine flat area!

November 14th, snowy but so fun! Beautiful sunny day out and easy loop!

Beautiful hike, once you get to the top. Did this hike with about a foot of snow on the ground. There was a portion of about a 1 mile climb of very steep incline and towards the top there was no trail broken in the snow.

Moderate is appropriate. It is challenging towards the top, but I carry an extra 40 lb with the baby carrier. Beautiful views.

This is a great trail with taking a simple walk in and around nature with the family

Trail is in great shape. Beautiful hike. Travel wisely, thick bear country. I like to hike this after the leaves have fallen.

Trail-head parking was easy to find, and pretty empty before sunrise. Trail is pretty easy to follow and clearly marked at a few trail intersections, until you come to the moraine field towards the end. There are cairns throughout the boulder field, but its easy to get turned around. When in doubt, keep to the left side of the boulder field and keep your eyes pealed for the cairns. The little hut at the end can provide some cover for extremely windy days. No animal sightings :(. Great hike!

My favorite spot to hike during summer time!!

The trail was beautiful, fresh snow. We were there in the morning and the sun shining On the other mountains illuminated their profile beautifully! Windy at the top however you get to see an entire view of Turnigan arm from one side!! No snow on the road up their and it was a rough ride.

Quick beautiful hike. Definitely check the weather before you go because doing this trail after/during rainfall would make it a lot more dangerous. I would also consider it to be more moderate than easy. A little strenuous at times, but so worth it when you make it to the top.

awesome trail! the peak of the trail has an awesome look out! did the trail in October, and it was a little chilly at the top but just plan accordingly for the weather.

Fun, challenging trail with beautiful views from the top

Great views in early September, had a clear day in the high 50’s F*. Finished in a few hours then went to pizza man. “Big win”

I loved this hike. Only a small step and rocky portion at the top! Great views

Beautiful hike with lots of beautiful scenery

Beautiful hike in the Fall! Great trail that takes you by lakes, a stream a boulder field at the end. Well maintained and traveled.

This was an absolutely perfect day for hiking this trail. Beautiful views, a few varying temperatures but hey that’s what you get in Alaska. One thing I wish I had known prior to arrival was that there is a $5 fee to park at the lodge area. This was my first time hiking the trail and had to make a decision at the fork in the trail as to go left or right. Decided to go right which took us up the path along the ski lift. That path is fairly vertical and will wear you out fast with the gain in elevation. Not for the novice hiker in my opinion or if you want a more leisure hike. Once to the top there were spectacular views of all the changing colors of the landscape below. It is solemnly quiet at the top. Started at 5 pm so the clouds began gently rolling in and gave an amazing show as they crept across the tops and through some of the saddles. Also we found the easier trail that has far less elevation gain up to the ridge-line-between the two peeks. After taking in the spectacular show of the sunlight through the clouds, we headed down the backside ridge-line and followed the spring track. The mountain spring was flowing gently and provided some great sounds. The sun was beginning to get pretty low and provided breathtaking scenery at a much more enjoyable descent. There were 6-7 people we crossed paths with on the hike. I would highly recommend this for someone likes evening hikes for how gorgeous the day was. If you plan on hiking this trail on a wet day make sure you have good shoes or boots. Well worth the work to get to the top.

Such an awesome and beautiful hike. After a few rest stops, some pickings of blueberries and crowberries on the backside of Baldy and a fair amount of peaceful time at the top, it took me about 4 hours (starting at the bottom of Baldy). Can’t wait to return with a drone.

Beautiful! Definitely pretty steep and strenuous, especially the last bit towards the top. But, once you get there you can see everything! Anchorage, the entire Valley, plus endless peaks.

Very beautiful hike and great view of Eagle River and on a good day, you might see part of Anchorage as well.

Did this one in the winter around April, at the top there was snow up to my thigh but was well worth the views up top!

Recommend bringing trekking poles. Very steep on the way up, if you take the right entrance. Left side could be used for both up and down if you don’t mind walking a little longer and stay on the safe side. Amazing view on the top though! Could be a great work out trail!

Fantastic hike!! definitely not for the faint hearted, the walk is pretty steep and the air gets very thin but it's worth it for the views! FYI the ski lift looks like its shut but there are two so keep walking down and you'll see it; $15 for a trip down - we were dead on our feet so were more than happy to grab it. Lots of wasps around the top for anyone allergic. A must hike!

Great views of Eagle and Symphony lakes. There are about 3 campsites down towards Eagle lake and 3 or 4 more down near Symphony lake. You cannot camp in or near the shelter because of terrain. There is one tree for shade in the area. If camping there in the summer, bring your own shade. The rock scramble easily adds a few miles worth of effort to the hike.

Well worth the hike. I’d recommend going up the hard route (right) and reward yourself by coming down the easier side (left). The views at the top were breathtaking. Took about 35 minutes up with water breaks and had the summit to myself. If you have the time, continue along the ridge to Black Tail (another must do).
