Busier than expected. Parking was a little tough, too. Only made it halfway--taking to many notes for a geology assignment.

Nice Easy/Moderate Hike...Watch Out for Horse droppings! Nice incline up to the top....where you’ll find a heart of stones :). Bathrooms at visitor center, no fees! Enjoy

Good views of the city easy in easy out

Fun moderate hike. The first mile is typical AZ hiking on dirt and rocks. At the top, be sure to follow the hidden valley trail (it's a loop so either direction is ok). That trail makes it interesting. You will see lots of people, including young children and dogs. Not a lot of parking in the lot but street parking available a block or 2 away.

This was a super fun hike! We clocked a little over 5 miles. Getting to Fat Man’s Pass was a little confusing and the trail to get there wasn’t clear. But after roaming around for a bit, we found it. Went w a friend who used to liver here and she said it was her fav hike she’s ever been on here! Def would go again. A little bit of climbing

Amazing Hike with Friends.....Great Incline Workout....Moderate/Easy......

This was a great hike. The direction we took made for an intense workout because it was hilly. This is my first time hiking in Arizona and wow, the sun is no joke (it was in late October). Take the water advisory very serious. It was in the sun the whole time but really beautiful!!

I usually am not a huge fan of city hikes, but overlooking the city at sunset on the Mormon Trail portion of this hike was pretty nice. Would definitely do this hike again.

Javelina was a nice trail but Ridgeline was amazing! The views of the Phoenix skyline are breathtaking from the ridgeline high points. I was baby carrying and the hills were tough, but it was a great workout. Definitely would do it again. Maybe I got confused with the switch from javelina to ridgeline trail but you have to pay attention to the posts. We focused on javelina trail and passed the ridgeline trail and just kept walking until we hit all the other trails. Overall, definitely think this trail rated moderate was accurate.

Great way to spend a couple hours. Trail options and great views! Easy trail to walk.

Great hike with beautiful views and cool rock formations.

New to the valley and waited for a cool day to try this and loved all the amazing rock formations. The backside of the loop seems like a bushwhack but you can see the main trail so it’s easy to stay on course.

Lots of fun and beautiful nature

Kicked my Butt! Javalina Out and looped back in Boulder Trail :). Definitely a moderate hike from 9 am-11:00am....No washrooms, marked well! Great Incline and Workout

Such an incredible workout, I alternate from ridge line Nd Beverly canyon to Pima wash to javelina, always exciting!

Little to no shade. recommend doing it early in the AM or late at night during summer months. Fats Man Pass and the tunnel were fun to explore! I did this with 3 friends of mine. It took us awhile due to the heat and time of day. bring lots of water

So fun. Always try to hike here when it’s raining because the water flows are amazing! Just a great short hike!

This has recently become my favorite trail. It’s beautiful and provides just enough challenge and incline. It provides multiple places to turn around if you are unable to complete the trail. It’s a family friendly trail and the views are incredible

We have gone up this trail two weeks in a row and have really enjoyed the loop. The steep hills are probably the “hardest” part of the trail but not crazy.

This trail is great for kids. Took my 6 yr old there and he was entertained the entire time. The rock structures are really fun (tunnels, sliding rocks, ...). We did make it a day-long picnic trip though since it is pretty long (well, with a 6 yr old ...).
Highly recommanded (but not in summer !)

Great hike! Neat view of the valley. The morman trail itself is easy to follow, the loop part is not very well marked in my opinion. Definitely good to have a map on hand and extra water.

Not difficult, but a great trail through the South Mountain area with lots of offshoots for different trails. I did get off trail somehow, but due to lots of people around and high visibility, I wasn't concerned. I'll definitely do this one again!

first time I've gone hiking in quite a long time so it was honestly to difficult for me after the first climb. had to turn around. but I would love to do it again when I'm in better shape. great views and beautiful sunrise.

Great place with lots of options! There are easy to moderate, short or long trails great for trail running, walking, hiking, and mountain biking. Some trails are just gravel while others are pretty rocky, but there’s really no shade anywhere. It’s our go-to place bc it’s so close to the city and but we have yet to explore every trail.

Great trail to take the pup on!

Great trail! It's probably best to go in the winter but I went in the summer and it wasn't too bad (bring lots of water though!) I recommend going early in the morning otherwise you will lose the little shade there is on the traim. The tunnel is awesome and I love the saguaro like usual. Definitely a beginner's hike and can be done in a couple hours even with some breaks.

Javelina trail is really fun, I go up Ridgeline for more scenic views
