Easy trail. In and out of shade. Out in open where clear cut had been its plenty warm. Trail is in good shape. A couple grades to go up and down. Three small bridges. Water fall is more of a trickle in July.
I am still glad we went. There are a few old growth Firs to pass by sticking out feet in the water was nice. We saw two deer, a big Woodpecker, some misc birds and about six other hikers. Lots of horse apples on trail. Go walk it!

A pretty trail, but longer than expected. Maps at the park are not marked well, but the AllTrails app really saved me! There is horse poop on the trail. Pretty shady with some patches of sunshine. Saw a couple little snakes. The falls are pretty too! You can get pretty close to them.

My girlfriend and I loved this. We did it in conjunction with Mckenny Trail and had a great 9 mile hike. I would say moderate/easy difficulty as there are not many sustained climbs. We did run into a couple folks on horseback and several bikers. There is some horse manure but it was not enough to warrant any frustrations for us. If I could do this trail again it would be on a mountain bike. Would have been great to ride in my opinion.

Charming little walk around the park. What’s not to like?

Gorgeous views of the Sound and the Olympics on a clear day. Peaceful and a short walk/bike ride/ drive from downtown Olympia.

Relaxing walk in the woods without needing to leave town.

This was my backyard for several years and is s nice place to safely walk in town without having to concern yourself with traffic. Great views on clear days.

great hike. Took my 7 year old and 10 year old on their second hike ever. took us about 4 hours.

Took my dog and son on this trail, we made our hike a little longer because we took the trail down to the beach, so it was a 2.4 mile trip for us. Beautiful and mostly shaded.

I love to walk this trails

Showed up on a Sunday around noon - trails weren’t overly busy. It was a bit confusing on where some of the connecting trails actually were. Some mucky areas but nothing serious - normal for pnw. Nice and clean. Our 5 year old was able to handle the trails with ease. We wanted to go swimming at one if the beaches after our hike but they were super busy.

Nice walk through though the woods. The falls were a bit lack luster but still a better way to spend the day than at work or the city.

Great hike, wonderful for all ages.

I live very close to this trail so it is one I do often. Very well shaded so ideal for summer and very few areas of incline. I have brought my kids and dog and they have no problem with any parts of the trail.

prefect trail to take little ones on. has a very peaceful setting for its location.

This is a short little hike but so worth it. The trail is well marked and maintained better than most. From the trail head you hike down 1/10 of a mile and then the loop begins and you are sucked out of the hustle and bustle of the city and surrounded by a peaceful rainforest with birds chirping and the trickle of water. Such a relaxing get away, all be it for 30 minutes or so. Came across several other hikers and a few with dogs. If there is one thing to be aware of it would be the trail head parking. There only seems to be enough for about 10 vehicles, with that said there was parking available when I arrived and as I left.

This would be on the low end of moderate. It is not flat but really only has a small amount of elevation. It is really a lovely walk.

Great trail that is mostly shaded with a few great views of the Capitol. Completed about 2 miles of the trail with my dog and three kids at a meandering pace in a little under an hour. There are a few steep elevation climbs and declines that can be challenging for older 2 & 4 leggers. Best part is it is right in town if you are from Olympia.

Absolutely beautiful run along an amazing park. The waterfalls are terrific! Very short so you may want to walk it twice…but definitely peaceful walk.

it's an easy hike with lots of great nature to explore: ponds with turtles, frogs, ducks, salamanders. Lots of birds. many amazing wild berries. garter snakes on sunny days.

the trail has a section through a sunny meadow, and a quieter, shadowy forested area with a winding trail

Overall a really good trail. Thirty minutes from our house and got some exercise. The trail is easy for all skill levels and a decent length. Well marked. For those negative remarks about the “gunshots and horse poop” hey should have read the sign at the trailhead. Near gun range and it is a shared trail - with horses and bikes. Nice walk in the woods on a comfortable day weather wise. Take snacks and some water. Would recommend to anyone wanting to “get away” from the city.

Great little trail for families!

Pretty nice walk with not many people during the week.

Nice short walk in a proper wood with great views of the Puget Sound and plenty of history and nature. Fairly busy on a Friday, and lots of mosquitoes in the forest loop. Great birdsong everywhere!

Interesting trail with ups, downs and tree roots to watch out for. Recommend a walking stick for the steeper areas and bring your bug spray. It's a little slice of forest heaven in the middle of the city

Awesome variety of vegetation, clean, very shady. only a few hills and many photo opportunities. Dogs love this trail.

Beautiful views and easy to walk trail.

Good hike for beginners! Took my kids and it was super easy. Not much of a falls and there was poop everywhere but overall not bad. We stopped at farm boys restaurant on the way back and it was good. We did 6.5 all together

Despite the campground filling up for the weekend, I had a relatively solitary hike. Lots of variety on this loop, and easy to walk. Check with a park ranger first about any trail closures due to water. Next time I'll definitely bring my swimsuit and try out the lake!

Nice leg stretcher to a charming waterfall. More than half the hike is shaded so it would be good on a hot day. Definitely heavily used by horses, but I only saw two on a Monday, along with a couple of runners and cyclists. Trail is extremely well marked, and trailhead was easy to find.
