This was a very quick with views of Gore Mountain and Loon Lake. It’s an easy hike that has decent views.

Hiked this about 2 years ago. It took us about 12 hours, but we took our time as I was 3 monrhs pregnant. Definitely a challenging hike, many very steep and rocky areas. We had to push 2 of our 3 dogs up the last stretch to the summit because it was practically rock climbing, the other dog is part mountain goat. There is a false summit that you can see the true summit from, it was about another hour from there to the actual summit. Not 360 viees, but beautiful none the less. I was definitely sore the next day, but it was a great hike, harder than expected.

Definitely need crampons. Very icy. Wanted to do both peaks, but I got a late start. I began going down Blake and decided best to turn around. Still took a solid 10 hours..

Great hike - was very icy and snowy still with patches of running stream/muddy. We used our spikes the whole time. I would not go without them-It took us about 2 hours to get to fifth peak lean-to. Gradually steep the whole time so this is a great prep for the high peaks ! Absolute beautiful today too!

Definitely a walk in the woods. Can be done in regular sneakers ! Trail is mostly melted .. beautiful views from the tower ! Took up less than 20 minutes up and down

Well marked trail ~ Good hike for family with kids

The trail condition was somewhat difficult today, the snow was semi hard and the path has been trampled, so hard with snowshoes. Was a beautiful day though and not too windy nor cold ! Long walk from the winter parking to the beginning of the trail. Will try again this summer !

My favorite of the Saranac 6ers. Took about 6 hours today, but I was taking my time and stopping to take in all view points. Went on snowshoes, trail is fully broken. Slid down for a good part of the trail. Very fun. Loved the snowy view of Lake Placid at the top.

Gorgeous views along the way but the final stretch of this trail (down to the point) is poorly, or not at all, marked. Very frustrating to find a trail that has had he markers removed. Glad to have finished my 12ster but would like to see the LGLC work on the markers.

Took nearly 5 hours on snowshoes. It was a nice day barely any ice, and trail was broken.. as previous reviewer said false summit has nice views. Actual summit is in the woods. Someone wrote on the marker so you know when you’ve hit the top.

Hiked on Feb 18/18. Only one other on trail who i caught up with at summit. Trail not particularily well marked though the other hiker broke trail which made finding my way easy. Little snow but lots of ice ,some very challenging, a few ice covered scrambles that required thought on how to climb
False summit has nice views, actual summit is in the woods. There is supposed to be a marker at the summit but could not be found. Likey some jerk took it for a souvenir. Decent was like the assent with a few challenging spots.
My first winter solo.Enjoy

Very icy! Crampons a must! Not much of a view from the summit.

Easy walk, as prior reviewers said. If you are doing the fire tower challenge, it is the easiest trip. Nice view of the High Peaks to the west and a bit of Lake Champlain to the east

great hike

Easy walk, it wasn’t too icy today. Beautiful view from the tower.

Lovely mild January day with temperature above the freezing mark until you end up at top. Extremely windy and cold at top with now views. Trek was easy via the Haystack trail until the steep climb at end. Very difficult climb in snowshoes for me as my girlfriend switched out to spikes. Descent was difficult in some areas, so we both opted for short spikes and slid most of the way down. This was our first attempt at snowshoeing in the Adirondacks and not our last.

This hike was a ton of fun! Completed it on 12/2/17. Decided to do Sawteeth as well. Our route went as follows: parked at the Ausable Club and hiked up Lake Road to the dam at the Northern end of Lower Ausable Lake where we crossed the bridge and began our ascent. Hiked up to the trail junction where we turned left to first summit Sawteeth. Around 8" of snow at the summit there. Then, we headed back to the split and went up toward Gothics via Pyramid. On this trail there was over a foot of snow the entire way (already!!) with drifts up to 2 feet. Made some hot cocoa up tip and had a near-death experience as I slipped and fell and slid at the peak of Gothics. If it weren't for a rock sitting on the summit I would've slid right off the peak. Word to the wise: ALWAYS WEAR SPIKES AT EXPOSED SUMMITS. Overall a great hike that ended up being about 18 miles round-trip.

Great little walk or short run along a dirt road. However Very rewarding views from the Fire Tower Cab for the short distance. Stopped here after Poke-O-Moonshine and was not disappointed.

Trees covered summit, not much view along the tree except a ledge near the summit.

Hiked yesterday, skipped scenic route given conditions, snow covered and very icy at top. Nice gravel road walk into the trail. Trail was in good condition and easy to follow. Were only ones on the trail, snowed again last night.

It's not a hike. We did this after Cheney Mountain to grab some extra easy views and check it off the fire tower challenge. I didn't mind that it was an access road or that there were antenna buildings... But, I was let down by the amount of trash and graffiti... I get that it's a party spot and don't have a problem with that... But, at least please pick up your garbage.

hiked in mid July.
sawteeth to pyramid to gothics and the down gothics to beaver meadow falls and out.
beautiful hike. had a great partner.

not the easiest with icy conditions , beautiful waterfalls on the way up to the main trail.

So super easy but yet cool. If you have kids or don’t hike much this is the one. Great views easy hike fire tower have a little lunch and relax.
Another fire tower down

Did this hike over two days. Started at Deer Loop and finished at Clay Meadow. No rattle snakes sighted. Stayed at Fifth Peak, lean too was in great condition! We did about 7 miles on the first day in about 4 hours with 40 pound packs. We did a little over 13 miles the second day over the course of about 9 hard hours. Trail is very poorly marked and the last stretch is not as flat or as quick as described here. I got my 12ster done and that was what mattered!

sawteeth pyramid gothics and armstrong loop. awesome. left parking lot at 830am and back to parking lot at 6pm. forgot to turn off recorder when back at parking

bit muddy and wet. crazy views througout the hike. some tricky rock scramble sections. very well marked.

Nice hike. Hells brook ascent to the Adam's apple and chin was definitely a rigorous but rewarding climb.

We hiked this high peak in August with a group of 12- half taking the "scenic route" which is more difficult. It's challenging and varied and was a wonderful hike. Someone in our group saw a small bear on the scenic side- a yearling. Footwork takes focus; really takes your mind off "life"- which was refreshing!
