Great hike! Lots of steep inclines. Well worth it, though, the view at the summit is amazing!

If you enjoy hustling up a rock scramble incline, this is the hike for you. The effort is worth the view at the summit! Fairly wide trail for most of the route. The first view is stunning, especially after staring at so much greenery for 3 miles. But don’t forget to continue in the the summit about 3-5 miles further on the yellow trail.

hike was great,as were the views, but the fire tower was locked when we reached the summit at around 430pm. I would have given it 5 stars if it was open

A good moderate hike with a very beautiful summit.
There are many steep patches and getting down was especially difficult for me

Nice views of Lake George! A little steeper than some of the other climbs around. I took the trail over the mountain and down to Shelving rock rd. The backside is quite technical with a more narrow trail. Great way to connect to the Sleeping Beauty trails.

Began at the Hogtown parking lot and did the trail to the summit, then the pond and back. We take our time so it took all morning. First time that we had done a mountain summit and it was incredible! Plan on going again in the fall as the view must be wonderful then.

Breathtaking views of Lake George! This hike was difficult but doable. It gets pretty steep at some points. Will 100% do again!

Got to the parking at 7:30 AM on a perfect Friday morning. I recommend the early start. By 9:30 I had the spectacular summit to myself! Loved this mountain. Definitely challenging for that last half mile. More climbing than hiking particularly at the end. 2nd of the Saranac 6 for me.

9:30am start with a clear shot to the top on an overcast (by beautiful) day. Just pretend you’re going to spend an hour on the Stairmaster, and you’ll be fine

This is a nice quick day hike, not difficult at all. what great views at the top just wish the tower was open.

The view at the top is beyond beautiful but the hike up is tough! My boyfriend and I are not avid hikers but we are athletes so we thought we would be able to do it pretty easily. Well, it took us 90 minutes to get up.. maybe more and we took a lot of water and resting breaks. The first 1.9 miles are fine but the last .5 up are hard. A lot of rocks. You need to wear hiking shoes because Nikes were not supportive and we were slipping everywhere. We got there at 7:30 and we were one of the first ones up which was special. Definitely an amazing workout and like I said, the views and the big rock up top were phenomenal!

This was a difficult hike mostly up steep terrain. Coming down is slippery -bring walking sticks. I would call this more than moderate difficulty.

I hiked this today and after all the rain we had this week it was MUDDY. I slipped on a few spots, mostly on the way down so you definitely have to watch your footing. View of the lake from the top is amazing and on the loop back down the other side there are views all along the way. Took me longer than I anticipated but mostly because of the mud and having to place my feet carefully. Overall a good hike, neat to see a wind turbine at the top!

Loved it and can’t wait to go back

Gorgeous views, a few steep inclines but not too bad. Very kid friendly. The fire tower is better maintained than most, and there was even an informative steward at the top! Definitely worth seeing.

For sure one of the more difficult hikes we have been on. It was a challenging hike but very rewarding and beautiful at the summit. Prepare to get your heart rate up. Great for older kids...not for younger ones....and our King Charles loved the hike....recommend for all but bear in mind...this is no cake walk!

The trail starts very easy: a walk in a forest for about 3 km. The last 3 km are pretty steep, lots if climbing on cliffs. Advise for people with dogs: i saw some dogs blocked on the way down because they were afraid to jump off cliffs.
Beautiful view on top.

Second time up Blue in July. Did this on a Monday morning. Trail was quite busy with families and summer camp groups. Trail etiquette was not very good with lots of candy/gum wrappers, groups with music playing on speakers, failure to yield trail to descending hikers. But I guess that comes with the territory, with a short hike to a fire tower so close to vacationland.

I dashed up the trail and made the summit in 57 minutes, and descended in just about 30 minutes.

This is a doozy, but the 360 degree views on the top are worth it! We arrived at 7:30 AM on a Tuesday and had the trail to ourselves all the way up. We passed LOTS of people on the way back down though. This hike is hard work and feels further than 2.7 miles up (that’s the mileage on the trailhead sign), but slow and steady is the way to go.

Hiked 9/27/17. It was unseasonably hot that day, even around 5:00 pm. There was no one else on the trail this day, so I had the mountain to myself. There are some very steep sections but the view at the top is beautiful. My garmin showed a total of 2.5 miles and it took me about 90 minutes round trip.

Great trail. Definitely steep uphill but good workout. Some scrambling near the top but do—able for anyone in good shape and who is comfortable with scrambling. Views from the top were fantastic

Fun hike, a bit rocky at times, great view at the top. Would definitely hike again!

Nice hike, trail was in very good condition and well marked. Appreciated the trail Steward's information and recommendations.

Took my wife and 10 and 9 year old boys up today. Great views on the summit. Bring extra water and snacks. Everyone was able to make it up and back.

the first half of the hike is casual and easy, steady and gradual inclines. the second half the hike is where you'll really start to feel it due to steeper inclines and rougher terrain.

definitely worth the effort

Excellent views and a super easy hike.

Boy did this trail kick our butt. We hiked this trail the morning after hiking two high peaks. I thought it would be a nice easy hike before we headed back home, but the second mile and it gets really steep. Your legs really get a work out. It was such a great feeling reaching the summit. We were the only ones at the top and we spent about 30 mins just enjoying the breeze and the views from the fire tower. It was pretty foggy when we first reached the top, but cleared up a bit by the time we hiked back down.

This trail was innocuous at first, with the first part of it fairly flat... then came the climb. It was like climbing steep stairs! But when you finally get to the top, it was breathtaking. I pulled my shoes off and went along the rock face. There were pools of water up there too that were refreshing to my bare feet. The streams on the way up and down were essential to staying refreshed and cool, so take advantage of them!

Hiked this today with my 14-year-old son. We are both in considerable shape, but the last mile is absolutely 40 to 50% grade. Both of our legs were burning and we wondering if the summit was worth it. Once we got up there it definitely was. There’s a 360° view of the Adirondack mountains. If the weather is a bit cloudy may have trouble seeing the surrounding area but on a clear day it is amazing. Very glad that we chose this one.

Nice trail. Good views in the middle and on the summit.
