We hiked the trail 12/16. Took the right trail up which was marked well in most spots. Definitely packed snow and a lot of ice. Wore microspikes and had no problem. We looped down the other side which was not marked but clearly walked on so had no problem following it.

12/8 : Snow was packed down pretty good. Wore crampons the entire time and had no issues. Awesome views when you summit

Great half day hike. This recorded trip doesn’t completely match the way the trail blazes lead. Lots of snow and ice on the trail. Did this on 12/8

Excellent in all seasons. One of our favorite trails to take friends on that don’t want a strenuous hike but want terrific views. Too rocky for cross country skiing.

Beautiful view!

Great small hike. 700ft in 1.2miles up gets your heart pumping. Probably 4-6inches of snow and icy conditions but doable in hiking boots. Some had mirospikes on that helped in the icy areas. Awesome views of Schroon Lake.

Super Trail très belle vue monter abrupte qui offre plusieurs petits défi pour débutants mais se fait bien

Hiked in from gate on 10/30/18. 3 miles to 4 Corners and to the right to the ponds. We were the only ones in except the forest ranger who stopped to give us an overview and update of plans and progress. The hike was easy as it follows the road.
There was snow on the landscape and it was a bit cloudy, but it started to clear so we had a superb view of Marcy, Gothics, Saddleback, Haystack,.. from the second pond. DEC is doing some work for a parking lot just before the split to the second pond and former lodge; the only muddy spot! Moose tracks there were very noticeable. Once all trails are in, this will be a Mecca!

Would rate this moderate, but it's a quick climb up to this lake. Very breathtaking, can be done in a hour.

Great during snow/freezing rain with a toddler on my back and also with him walking close to a mile. Beautiful lake views with a waterfall and minimal elevation change.

Very nice walk through the forest to a pond with a few different environments. Trail well marked and easy.

A little bit steep but a fun little up-hill rocky walk, I went with my boyfriend around sunset, descent was a little icy due to the rain and sleet that was coming down lightly that day. We had a lot of fun on the walk up to the pond, only took about twenty minutes. We are definitely considering staying at the lean-to on our of our next trips to the lake placid area. A very quick brisk walk up and back.

This was my first ADK hike. We brought our 15 year old dog, who found it pretty fun and easy. It can definitely get a bit steep at parts, but nothing too difficult at all. There are two nice lookouts at the summit. I would recommend this for beginners. We took the left trail up, but had a hard time staying on trail with all the leaves hiding the path. Pretty short hike but definitely rewarding.

Nice short loop with going up is steep sometimes, going down is easy.

My Golden and I loved this trail and the view. We didn’t see any other hikers on a Friday afternoon.

Great for taking a family to see some sights you normally don’t get to experience. The man made walkway travels over the falls. Prepare to get some spray.

Short, easy hike. Really nice view.

Breathtaking views at the summit and several points on the way up as well. The trail is clearly marked and well traveled. Steady uphill climb with some rocky parts to keep it interesting. I went to see the fall foliage and was not disappointed in the slightest!

Beginner hiker. Was a challenging but doable climb. We walked from Hotel Saranac to the trailhead, ascended the unmarked trail (left) and descended on the marked (right), and back to the hotel topping out around 4 miles. Including about 30 mins at the summit finished the mountain itself it about 2.5 hours. Nice views from the top but a little blocked by trees at summit - still a rewarding view. Encouraged me to try for Saranac 6ers!

Nice hike but kind of muddy. Very nice otherwise

Decent trail, there's is a view point which makes you think that it's the summit, when the summit is actually in the trees marked by a tiny marker. Took me and my friends a bit to find it.

Hiked on 10/13 and DEC has put in a few extra launches for canoes and kayaks with bathrooms. Hopefully they won’t keep adding as more and more people are visiting and littering. All in all, it’s an awesome place and by far the most secluded place I’ve found in the peaks. Plenty of loons and otters to see from time to time!

So pretty! Right off the hwy! Can't beat the beauty!

A beautiful 1+ hour hike. We took the right hand fork - it was a wide flat trail for the first half mile with the rocky inclines thereafter. The trails are well marked but with all the options and trail crossings, best to check the app periodically to ensure you don’t get off the proposed loop. At the far end you end up in a Whiteface Mountain parking lot. Take a hard left and cross over to access trail system back to starting point. The remainder of hike is a gentle downhill on a wide trail with views of the river.

Hiked this trail on Mother’s Day by myself and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings immensley. Not a soul for miles. At the leanto I heard lots of peepers and sat on the rock watching the many salamanders swim around for about an hour. There were about 5 or 6 blowdowns on the way and on my way back I lost my grey w/blue hood Whiteface Mountain sweatshirt. Guess I didn’t tie it tight enough. (If anyone reading this found it please email me:))
Went back with a friend this Wednesday hoping to find it. But no luck
This time we went all the way straight through to the Bonnieview trailhead. With all of the leaves on the trail it was hard to not twist both ankles. But we made it in 5 & 1/2 hours.
