on Ocean Path Trail

This was a great place to start for our first trip to Acadia. We came off season, so there were no crowds. Walking instead of driving the route allowed for many photo ops and for us to enjoy every bit of the scenery. However, I would not do this trail again on another trip back to Acadia.

Misrepresented by the name. This should be called the Stairs Trail. 2 or 3 iron ladders, with a little bit of vertical climbing at the beginning, followed by 30-45 minutes plus of stairs depending on your speed and endurance. A great trail but don't expect a bunch of ladders.

Went with a large group that included kids age 6-16 and Grandparents age 71 & 76... so this hike can be done by all ages, hiking poles came in handy for the grandparents when we got to some areas of the trail, just used for balance more than anything. We had fog the day we went, so we couldn't even see across the lake the whole time we were there. We ended up going back another day just to be able to see the lake without the fog.

Very easy relaxing trail. It's pretty all the way around. Loved it.

If you are looking for impressive views or good exercise, Acadia has dozens of hikes that are better. If you have limited mobility and do not mind being surrounded by huge crowds, the walk is enjoyable, but to be clear, you can get the same views from so many other hikes in this gorgeous park.

We took this down after ascending on Precipice Trail. Nice mellow hike compared to Precipice! (August)

Hiked this in 9/2016. Amazing views all the way up. Worth the effort.

Easy hike with great views around the pond. Boardwalk was a little slick, so extra traction may be required in icy spots.

Love this trail! Not a very long hike but you get some really great views of sand beach and the beehive across the way.

It’s a challenging trail. Basically, you’re going straight up on stairs for 0.5 miles then climbing on rocks.

Beautiful views of the waves crashing against the cliffs as well as the sandy beach.

nice hike

Very easy trail w some beautiful views and wooden bridges. Nice in November as it’s not crowded and was able to go w my pup.

Good steady climb to beautiful vistas. Sturdy ladders are.part of the fun.

Just challenging enough! The views were unbelievable. Be sure to wear waterproof shoes. It rained the day before , so parts of the narrow trail towards the top were somewhat flooded. Totally worth it!!

Another trail I could do again and again and never get tired of. It's got a bit of everything, including some climbing if you're feeling adventurous. We climbed down a rather steep little cliff/ path(?) to get to a stone beach surrounded by cliffs (mind the tide). There is a beautiful stack of granite slabs that broke away from three cliff face that completely captivated me. We went down to another stone beach that was all big bubble rocks. I would also recommend parking at otter cliffs and traveling the trail in reverse (with thunder hole near the end). This let's you avoid most of the traffic. In my opinion thunder hole is cool but we had much more fun exploring the cliffs on our own than standing on the steps with a bunch of people.

Some of the most beautiful views I've ever seen!

Very steep incline, but absolutely beautifully maintained and so very cool.

Great trail with beautiful views of the gorge and fall colors along the way. Started at the top of Cadillac Mountain (that’s where the GPS took us) and hiked down the mountain. Was tough going down and by the time we got to the bottom, we were exhausted and no way were heading back up. Found some other tourists from Alabama that drove us back to the top, thank you! My suggestion is to be prepared to either hire a shuttle service be prepared for 7.4 miles of climbing as it’s fairly steep steps and climb the whole way. Quads are still burning! Beautiful hike though!

Great hike and easy trail to follow. Took our family of 5 (kids 16,14, and 12) and along the route are some great views of the bay and surrounding area. At the top, just past the summit is an unmarked trail leading down to a crashed plane from the 50s and the wreckage is still there. Very interesting but somber area. Overall, a great hike.

fantastic hike. we did south bubble first and descended down the rocks and it was great fun - few shuffles on the bum down the rocks but easier than ascending. Wonderful views and easy hike for such views. The did north bubble again manageable hike and wonderful views of eagle lake. we continued to eagle lake and joined eagle lake loop (fun walk over rocks) and later the carry Jordan lake trail back to bubbles parking lot so we didn't have to go back on ourselves (easy walk back)

Hiked this trail in May 2015. One of the most memorable hikes on the East Coast. Beehive is another moderate but exciting trail for those who are not afraid of night or cliffs and in fairly good shape. This trail is longer but easier with amazing views!

Last hiked it on May 14, 1994. What can I saw that has not already been said by many visitors about this spectacular hike?

Very nice and simple nature walk hike though just make sure you're going on the right trail since it has multiple trail intersections. The lake is super nice at sunset as the sun reflects off of the fall foliage.
