The exposure of the cliff trail should not be understated. There are sections of this trail that ‘heights-challenged’ persons would struggle to complete. Better than average physical fitness is also a must- the climb down the Spring trail is very steep. The summit views are top-notch. I give it 3 stars only because I have no desire to do it again due to its exposure- a bad slip/trip would be fatal.

Although strenuous at times, the views and the path along the ridge of the mountain were breathtaking!

Love the views

Pretty straightforward hike to the top of Cadillac but we did it last Thanksgiving weekend we’re temps were in the low teens and boy was it cold out there. Caught a few flurries up top but definitely feel like we earned it as opposed to those who drove up to the top!

Great views. Strenuous climbing at times, but very rewarding.

Our family hiked the Jordan Cliff Trail the second week of August (just after reopening for the season). It's a great trail when the park is crowded. We saw few people along the trail as it is not near the larger towns on the island. I suggest you park your car at Jordan Pond House by 9 a.m. before it fills then hike the trails. We reserved a few months ahead for lunch at the Pond House restaurant for 3 p.m. which left us plenty of time to hike. Regarding the hike, there are a few ledges without rails and a narrow bridge but for this family that has little climbing experience, it was all very approachable

This is definitely more than 4 miles if you’re coming from the Blackwoods campground. Beautiful views on top...If you have a slightly overweight elderly dog-it might be a challenge. Our 8 year old Golden Retriever barely made it down. Overall-Amazing!

Very nice hiking and rock climbing trail. Near-vertical rock climbing ascend for about ~0.3 miles; but nicely placed metal rungs help a lot. Very great views from the top.

Don’t try to do this trail the wrong way around; that is, do the trail *counter* clockwise, so that you end up climbing up the rocks and not down. Don’t attempt with kids or if you feel you might be unable to pull yourself up onto rocks (two or three spots require pulling oneself up onto shoulder-height rocks using rungs).

Also, good hiking shoes may be better for this than rigid hiking/backpacking boots.

Trail was very safe for a sunrise hike. Started approximately 2 hours before sunrise time and took our time getting up. A moderately difficult, but looong hike. Parking is convenient and right by the trail head.

Beautiful hike! I did the loop counter-clockwise too to keep the nice slop down from the top for the end. I did not know what to expect from the loop before going down Canon Brook trail, but I loved the river bed in the middle of the forest. It was worth going down and up again!

One of my absolute favorite hikes in Acadia. Short and rather easy, the views of Sand Beach are breathtaking. If you go at low tide, you can scramble down the cliffs and observe the tide pools below. A peaceful hike surprisingly absent of others!

Take the Cadillac Cliffs off shoot for much more entertaining (and a bit more challenging) hike. An easy jaunt up the mountain to some really beautiful views. The Cliffs offshoot offers some immense and fascinating rock formations - and feels much less traveled. A reasonable hike for everyone to try!

Not for the faint of heart. Because HEIGHTS. ladder rungs, scrambling and narrow edges are most common features. You must be certain of your footing on this one. Completely worth the view though. However, not for dogs, inexperienced hikers or young children. And don’t come DOWN the beehive. You’ll make a mess of things.

Took this on as my second hike...don’t know what I was thinking. The warning sign gave me hesitation but decided to go for it. Got to really stay focused ascending this path and it was good to have my SIL (an experienced hiker) leading the way. Beautiful views from the top. When I completed the ascend felt a great sense of accomplishment and gained major confidence about my ability to do this hiking thing.

This was the first leg of my third hike with my daughter and SIL and it definitely tested my endurance. We ascended to the Cadillac Summit and took the Gorge trail as the descent. I locked into the design pattern early on as it would present incline and then level ground which I thought was manageable. But the more we got into the trail, I thought the inclines became longer and steeper and the level ground seemed to disappear. My trusty staff was literally a God send as some thoughtful hiker left it at the beginning of the trail. Made it to the Summit which was a beautiful view and worth the sweat and grind up hill. The Cadillac Mtn North Ridge was no joke!!

A good option for descending the mountain since it provides shade. First ~0.4miles of the descend very steep (trekking poles strongly recommended). Afterwards, path descends less steeply, through the woods, and as its name suggests, follows a gorge (nice tiny waterfalls, a creek, etc).

Offers great scenic view of Acadia and the ocean. More or less no shade whatsoever. Involves some scrambling, but manageable (but trekking poles are helpful). Very nice trail, all in all.

This was my third hike, it was challenging and beautiful. I did it with my daughter and SIL. We did it as a descent from Cadillac Summit. The first .75 mi was a deep descent down boulders that required scrambling on all fours and sometimes scooting on my butt. Was happy I had a staff to aid me along the way. After we got into the “gorge” it was beautiful and well designed but don’t let your guard down. The water trickle/ stream was soothing and ran the length of the trail.

Beautiful trail! Great views all the way up. the summit is breathtaking. Nice trail for dogs. not too difficult!

My favorite trail of all time. (Without dogs and I haven’t done precipice)

beautiful hike not strenuous great vistas

We actually veered more left and hiked a larger portion of the loop. The part of the trail that is not outlined red on the map here is very easy gravel area. The part that is marked red is moderate with some rock scrambling. There are some awesome views on this trail.

Fun and challenging trail. I did this with my seventeen year old son and his sixteen year cousin.
A lot of the trail is a long scramble over rocks under which the creek between Cadillac and Door mountains runs. It is shaded for the most part, but the elevation change and very rocky path make it a fun challenge. The last yards turn from the creek area to scale Cadillac Mountain. Some of the trail here requires all four limbs to traverse but soon one arrives at the top of Cadillac Mountain and it's breathtaking views. This is not a kid or pet friendly trail, but a very fun one for teens and adults.

If you looking for something adventurous that is a little easier than the Precipice this is the trail for you! Plenty of metal rungs and ladders to get you to the top so this is not just your average walking trail there is a lot of climbing involved. There are also a few drop off ledges involved so if your afraid of heights keep this in mind. I would not do Acadia without doing this trail though!!

Great hike for my son and I. Challenging for me and my son (27)'was able to get a good workout in. Beautiful vistas...the hike back down was incredible. Come prepared with plenty of water.

Really awesome! Some dicey areas for those afraid of heights, but there are always paths marked. Beautiful views throughout.

Great hike beautiful views of Sand Beach as some more challenging rocks to keep it interesting but still accessible.

Great hike! Beautiful views the entire time Be ready to climb lots of rocks and boulders to the top, but the views are worth it.

We actually parked at Sand Beach, walked up the coast line and then caught the Gorham Trail. You can pick up this route almost anywhere along the coastline

Great hike! Completed in around 3 hours roundtrip. Wasn't difficult at all! Loved it!

Pretty view..... kids loved it
