Overcast but still a gorgeous place to go. When you go to the entrance of the Reservoir (Jordan Pond) take a right , it will be a nice easy stroll, within 2 miles you will come across an area that you must climb through rocks lots of them, eventually you will get a wooden narrow walkway,(slippery whem wet)Not a good hike for someone that is elderly unless you can just stay before the rocks and turn around. The hike is gorgeous and peaceful.

Great trail but a little basic in my opinion

The agony lies between your adrenaline rush and the moment of the despair (especially when you accidentally looked down once), pretty scary I would say. Just be ready to use your muscles really wisely and coordinately to get yourself up when you are literally are surrounded with nothing but 2-3 iron handles in front of you.

Great view on the top!!! More of a mental game than a physical one! But worth it!!!

Had never heard of this trail before, but so glad we found it. Turned out to be an amazing hike! We did Penobscot trail up to the summit and took Spring trail back down. You get a little bit of everything. Step descent.

Absolutely amazing views! Make sure to bring lots of water and try to start on the earlier side. It's really sunny and hot during the summer time. Wouldn't suggest bringing kids on this trail.

Really fun trail. To be quite honest, there were a few parts that made me a little uneasy so if you’re truly afraid of heights or a newbie, I’d shy away from this one. The view is breathtaking though.

A wonderful hike which rewards you with excellent views at the top! Much of the trail is rock and slab... bring proper footwear. It’s a lot of gain over a short distance, but still, a moderate classification is appropriate I think. Also, there’s many flat spots on the way up to stop and rest, which also have amazing views. Biggest downfall is that once you get to the summit it is beyond crowded with people who drive up. Maybe it’s just me but it looses some of the majesty being surrounded by people who burned gas, not energy haha. There’s a spot about .1 miles before the summit that feels like it might be the top... perfect spot to grab some photos and enjoy your accomplishment away from touristy eyes.

awesome trail. a little tougher than I had expected...was surprised to see some little children on it...

Outstanding trail. Excellent use of technical skills. Our favorite trail in the park. Definitely a must hike if you plan to visit the park.

I enjoyed this trail. I would personally rate it moderate or moderate-hard, although the distance is fairly long which can be tiresome for some hikers. The views throughout were breathtaking and definitely worth the consistent uphill ascent! Cadillac can get pretty crowded near the parking lot area once you reach the top, so it’s nice to stay towards the less populated areas for a more serene atmosphere.

Beautiful views throughout the trail, but like others have mentioned, it is much longer than expected. The trail itself os fairly simple, easy, and flat, but it can take a little long depending on how many times you stop to take in the view or the pace you are walking at.

I absolutely loved this trail- going back for a second time shortly after because it was a lot of fun. Definitely need to watch your footing when climbing, with some parts being more difficult than others, but it’s worth it for the adrenaline rush and amazing views. The way up is pretty short in distance, and I chose to go down through the bowl trail rather than back down the beehive trail.

love this trail! I missed out on it the 1st time i was in Acadia since my wife does not do well with heights. This time with a little research i got her to do the bowl trail and head up the back of the beehive. I took beehive and we met 30 yrds from peak. she loved getting the views at the summit without having to do the heights. She loved her hike filled with mild scambling (with our 11 month old on her back) and I absolutely loved the beehive. i've done angels landing in zion and this is a short fun version on that. Will do multiple times everytime i return. Must do early, i only saw 8 people and we finished parking lot to parking lot in 1 hour.

We loved this trail. We did Gorham the day before, and this was definitely a nice change. I was worried it might be a bit of a boring hike since it’s rated as easy, but i was definitely wrong! This is a gorgeous hike with a nice tree canopy. I didn’t want it to end because it was so perfect. The water in Jordan Pond is amazing clear. It’s beautiful.

This was a nice, lovely hike. It was as our first hike on our trip to Acadia National Park. It was not difficult, but it was a bit strenuous ascending. I had to stop to catch my breath a time or two. Also a very sunny hike. We took the path that led us to Sandy Beach, and the kids enjoyed getting their feet wet in the cold water:

We took this trail down from Sargent after going up the Gorge trail (hitting Parkman and Gilmore peaks). It was a beautiful hike with a full 360 view from at the top of Sargent. Highly recommended

Breathtaking views!!!

It took our family nearly three hours, not because it was hard but because we stopped to find tadpoles and frogs, watch a beaver calmly munch on the shore, delight in our teens reverting back to delighted toddlers, and take hundreds of photos of this lovely place in the late afternoon. It was a great family hike!

This is such an incredible hike. Definitely would not recommend for children because there were a lot of steep climbs that I can imagine would be scary. There’s ladder steps and metal bars to help you up. I went late afternoon on a Wednesday and there were only two groups with us. I can’t imagine doing this popular hike with many more people because it’s super narrow and you want to take your time. So worth it. I was skeptical about it being rated as the best hike in Acadia with it only being a short hike, but after doing a few others I definitely agree that this was the best hike!

Easy with some fun traversing over small boulders and a walk on a bog trail. Beautiful views.

Nice hike. Cold and cloudy at top, so could be nicer on different day. Gotham Mountain Trail has a little side hike called Cadillac Cliffs Trail - Highly recommended!

Fun! Not scary while you're doing it (unless you're afraid of heights, I suppose). Looks scarier in photos than it feels, because you always have something to hold on to.

Definitely a great hike, a bit scary for me but glad I did it.

Beautiful trail with spectacular views! It’s a pretty simple hike, but it feels very long in its simplicity. We took the simple route first (to the right), then the last mile and a half (approximately) was all wooden planks and a short little rock “scramble.” Still very easy, but not for people with strollers. Beautiful view of the Bubbles! Pristine piece of earth. Absolutely gorgeous!

We did this trail on June 23rd. I am terrified of heights, TERRIFIED! I was nauseous the entire trip after my group mentioned they wanted to do this trail. I reluctantly did this hike and was a little nervous at times, but NEVER terrified. It ended up being pretty fun and I enjoyed it. I’m so glad I did it. There’s never a part where there is a sudden drop off the side. The trail always comes back on itself below. There’s a few areas of metal rung climbing and 2 main rock scrambling areas. The first rock section is the “scariest” of the 2 in my opinion. Once you get there, you’re practically to the top. We did it in about 45 mins with time for pictures at the top. Beautiful views, however, you get the same views if you take Gorham Mtn to Beehive if you prefer to skip the “height” stuff. If you’re afraid of heights, just do it! You’ll have a great sense of accomplishment at the end.

Fun hike! A good bit of rocky stepping, which was fun. Breath taking views! We were the only ones on the trail at 7am. We came across this trail from Ocean Path and decided to go for it! So glad we did! It takes you up to the back side of the Beehive. If you’re not into the climbing aspect of Beehive, you get the same summit without the “fear of heights” challenge.

I’m surprised by the complaints regarding this trail. Difficult is not an accurate description, as another rater mentioned, moderate is absolutely fair.
You should have decent leg strength for this one, but no actual skills are necessary. The elevation is gained quickly since it is the shorter hike to reach the summit. If you question your endurance or leg strength, do another hike. But if you’re looking for a beautiful view at the top that you have to work a little for, do this!
We met a lot of hikers who seemed to think this would be easy. When you’re at sea level, you can see the top of the peak. It’s obviously going to take a little work!

Great views. The start involves a technical climb, so be aware.

This hike took my 16 yo son 52 minutes to reach the summit, it took me 1 hr and 14 minutes. Please don’t be dissuaded from this hike based on comments on difficulty. A moderate rating is fair. This was a fairly easy hike with great views. It’s a 4 because you can hear road noise from cars on parts of the trail, and because the summit is accessible by car, there are a lot of people up there. It was about 3 hours total up and back with time at the top.

More mentally demanding than physically demanding! If you can put aside any fears of heights, this is a fun little hike.
