A beautiful little trail that overlooks the craggy seawall. It’s pretty much the definition of Maine’s coastline.

My pal and I woke up at 4AM and watched the sunrise over the sea. However, in the summer months, be sure to prepare for mosquitoes as they love to hang around the seaweed.

Seeing a 7.5 mike trail and thinking “how could this be hard?” Is a mistake. The slopes and grades on the mountainside are unlike any hikes I’ve ever completed. You’re doing almost a vertical climb at some parts.

However, hard work pays off. You get some of the most beautiful scenes of the Coast and Bar Harbor to the North. Plus, you get an extreme workout that makes you feel like you completed something insane!

A very simple straightforward trail. However, there’s a ton of ice on this route. Even with microspikes, snow was building up beneath my boots and causing me to slip. Anticipate an extra hour or two in the winter due to icy conditions. I also saw a snowy owl at the top of Cadillac.

Beautiful views and great trail. We were lucky and had excellent weather on 12/31/18. If not so lucky, this hike could be dangerous for inexperienced hikers (like us). There was a good amount of ice on our hike up the South Ridge Trail, and we saw someone who had traction cleats and we wished we had thought of that. On the descent from Cadillac Mountain towards Murray Young Path, it was too steep/icy for our dog (and probably for us!), so we turned back after a quarter of a mile. I would highly recommend this any time of year, if conditions permit!

Completed this hike on a warm day in late December. There are two options in winter, the trail and the road.

I attempted the trail however the ice made it impossible without crampons. Taking the road is a very nice route although it adds some milage. 5 miles one way and 10 miles round trip taking the road.

Pack an extra layer for the top. Prepare for some wind and exposure. All in all its a very nice and beautiful hike.

Beautiful hike with amazing views! Challenging in some areas, but doable. We took a detour at the end and had lunch at the Jordan Pond House which made for a great end of hike reward!

Really great walk, fantastic in the early morning! enter off the city road not the loop for an easy in and out

Incredibly beautiful. I got engaged this October on this trail!!! You’re hiking alongside the ocean the entire time and if you take a little detour off of the path you can hop along the rocky coast for an even better adventure.

Great hike! Not to difficult either. If you do this trail definitely take the short Cadillac Cliffs loop!

Great views and super easy trail! We did this one last due to low morale from beehive and south ridge trail. But it was definitely worth the hike. Perfect for beginners!

We hiked the south ridge trail at 5am to catch the sunrise. The entrance is hidden on the opposite side of the campgrounds. We started hiking up the snowy pine trail and finally reached the top. Absolutely breathtaking views! The rocks on the way up were icy but fairly an easy climb if you’re in decent shape. Wish the cold didn’t zap my battery because we made it to 2,000ft! Beautiful hike! =)

Great hike with even better views.

Up to the summit and back - thoroughly enjoyed! Good, but not overly challenging, hike for a pair of geezers. One week past the 'peak color season,' and the colors and views were amazing. Perfect setup for a couple of drafts and snacks at a brew-pub back in Bar Harbor.

A great little hike that's definitely worth the effort. Especially the views back toward Beehive across the little bay can be absolutely stunning if the weather is right.

Added the Bowl Trail and part of Beehive to make it a bit more interesting. Nice scenic summits.

I went up the north ridge and down the south (no roads go near the south trail down, and you can catch a shuttle). Actually went up and down barefoot, and still did it all in under four hours. If you’re in half decent shape it’s a breeze.

On the way up cars pass very close by several times but that didn’t stop a deer from running across the trail! It’s really crowded on top, and as you get nearer there are lots of people who walked on from the road. It’s a bit lame, but not enough to take away from the hike and views.

I highly recommend going down the south side rather than doubling back. The scenery changes, I passed less than 5 people (and about 20+on north ridge), and it goes straight into one of the campgrounds.

Beautiful hike! was a little rough in places, but had a lot of beautiful stops to rest my legs in the way up. followed the blue markings and a beautiful stream. had to be careful because of the leaves and rocks were a tad slippery. amazing view at the end, very much worth the hike. ended up watching the sunset later on. amazing views!

Great trail, started at the beehive, took the bowl to Gorham Mtn trail ended on beach trail back to beehive trailhead. 3.6 mi loop. Very few hikers this time of year. Was perfect day to hike.

Did this trail in the evening when it was extremely foggy, I'm sure there would have been great views if it wasn't for the fog. A great trail otherwise, wild blueberry bushes are everywhere. You are following blue arrows painted on the rock

Lots of views, lots of up, and in the fall you don’t see many people going this way, add mileage starting from camp ground :)

Great hike with amazing views and lots of elevation changes

This was a beautiful trail with so many awesome views at each level. Perfect for fall leaf peeping and photography. Not a difficult hike. The only disappointment was the road was next to the trail at points which took away from the nature. This is a”must do’ hike.

A wonderful hike. Mainly over rocks. We did it together with my family incl. a 20 months old in a carrier. Stopped many times. Made it up in 2 hours and down in about 1.5 hours. The gift shop up top sold hot chocolates, which we loved as it was cold and windy on this October day.

Took about 2:15 to finish round trip at a fairly brisk pace. Easy all the way up. A little towards the end but nothing strenuous for any normal human. Great views during ridge hike until to get to human parade at the top.

Beautiful trail gradual ascent. Follow the blue blazes

Great views!

This was a great hike. We took the loop counter clockwise and got all the difficult section of the trail out of the way first. The last part of the trail is very flat and easy and includes thunder hole (which you want to visit 2 hours before high tide). I am glad we had the flat section last at dusk. For my novice experience as a hiker, I would not want to be on the mountain part after dark. Beautiful views of the ocean and fall leaves.

Started our hike at 5.15am and got to the top by 6.30am to watch the sunrise. It doesn’t get light out till after 6am so make sure to bring a headlamp. The hike was exciting! All uphill and made it more adventurous in the dark. Not challenging but definitely long and can be tiring at some points. The view is absolutely amazing and sunrise is not to be missed.

It’s popular for a reason! Crowded but it’s pretty awesome to be hiking so close to the ocean all the way. Very easy trail and a lot of fun!

From the summit going to Dorr mountain summit is rewarding. (then going down from Dorr mountain north ridge trail, Hemlock trail, and Gorge path)
