Steep assent with lots of stone steps and a few iron ladders. Nice views along most of the trail.

The trail is incredible but I would not advise for the winter. We did this trail on a cold day and the day before it rained. In many places had ice which made the path slippery. Even with the metal ladders I do not consider it a difficult trail but it requires care and a little effort.

This trail is ABSOLUTELY pristine. What an amazing place to enjoy nature. ESPECIALLY THIS TIME OF YEAR!!!
Cant wait to check it out in the winter!

PACMULE

Lots of views, lots of up, and in the fall you don’t see many people going this way, add mileage starting from camp ground :)

easy trail, great falls, lots to explore

We took Emory to Schiff. It was beautiful and fun. The stairs stop at the very top so we had to come back due to ice and slick rocks. Came down Deiderich's Climb which was amazing and very steep. A chunk of the path was missing but was able to get to the other side pretty easy. Would love to do it again to reach summit. Loved all of it.

Great views at the end, but be prepared for some butt-burning stair climbing in order to get there! Possibly a better view than Cadillac Mtn! :)

very rocky and rooty at times but BEAUTIFUL once you got to the top. we chose this as our way to Sargent. walked along a stream most of the way. didnt see any other person. took a different way down which was much easier as this trail was steep and rocky.

Easy hike along scenic brook. Great way to experience the Carter huts and pond.

Took about 2:15 to finish round trip at a fairly brisk pace. Easy all the way up. A little towards the end but nothing strenuous for any normal human. Great views during ridge hike until to get to human parade at the top.

Beautiful trail gradual ascent. Follow the blue blazes

I’d definitely do it again! The fire-tower at the summit is unexpected but provides good views.

Pleasant, easy hike to get to and from the falls. The area of the falls was more than we expected. Our 50 lb pup had no troubles.

Easy trail, quick payoff if you only have a little time to spare. We're not experienced hikers, saw ages 2 to 72 walking with no problem. Falls are worth the short walk. Pit toilets at entrance, $5/vehicle fee.

the Kane path was fun, stepping on boulders along the tarn. Nice walk for a rainy afternoon since some was in the woods.

Really nice easy hike with beautiful views in the Fall. Had the place to myself on a drizzly day!

accidentally decended and had to go back up. beautiful both ways. best views.

Challenging and fun hike! Careful doing this hike if it’s too wet and make sure to wear hiking shoes.

We didn't do the whole trail, but the views were lovely.

Beautiful trail and views! While not difficult overall, it does have a few of steep sections. Well maintained and marked. “Steps” of rock and wood make the steep sections doable. Wildflowers, moss and a huge variety of trees, bushes, ferns and other plants make for a beautiful hike.

We love this trail for the great variety it offers. Find trailhead from parking lot area of Jordan Pond restaurant - don't walk down to the pond. Look for a series of steps leading down from parking area or the restroom side of Jordan pond house. Spring trail will first descend down to cross the Jordan Stream, then climb up thru the forest to a carriage road. Cross the road - then the real fun begins up rock steps toward the summit. This is toughest part of trail, not recommended for children. You'll then reach a more gradual and long ascent to summit over open, exposed granite with excellent 360 degree views. If you happen to hike after a recent rain, the Deer Brook trail will be absolutely beautiful for the descent - what starts as a small mountain brook running beside and across the trail will become a large cascade before the trail reaches the carriage road above Jordan Pond. They've built a great series of wooden steps and overlook platforms for this area just above the carriage road and stone bridge. Many never see this brook or waterfalls during the summer dry season - but one of the most beautiful trails when the rain causes this brook to rise into large waterfalls. Add the foliage colors and this is among a best forest trail the park offers.

difficult but great hike

Fun and easy hike with beautiful falls. Very similar to the Basin in Franconia Notch.

Gorgeous views of the water. Serene and welcoming. Magical.

fabulous hike! breathtaking views. nice length. gradual incline!

Fantastic via ferrata route. Not for the faint of heart or little ones. Expect traffic jams during high season. Otherwise totally worth it. The views are great and the adventure will get your heart pumping.
