Hiking

Beautiful views along the coast. Hike up the mountain is on rock so will be really slippery when wet. Good hike overall.

HikingIcy

Completed this loop at the beginning of March and the trail is beautiful but is straight ice. Highly recommend ice cleats as we wouldn’t have made it without them. We picked some up at the Ace Hardware in Bar Harbor easily.

It was a great hike with amazing views! Icy and wet in parts but with spikes definitely doable!

A lovely loop hike! Plenty of parking at Sand Beach in the afternoon when we arrived. Lots of great little paths off the trail to step off and take in some views. We did the whole loop in spikes. Snowshoes weren’t needed. Beautiful views from the summit of Gorham Mountain.

Absolutely gorgeous hike. This hike had some of the prettiest views I've seen. We hiked this yesterday, January 10, and it was ICY. We were both able to do the hike in boots, however there were a few sections we literally sat down and slid through. I would recommend either being okay with some sliding down a mountain, or bringing spikes for your shoes. Most people there had them on. Again, totally doable without them, but it will take you longer and be a bit more nerve racking. Amazing views of the area. The trail was a perfect mix of being curated and easy to follow and seeming as though we could have been hiking through backcountry. Don't forget to download maps before you get there as there aren't many service spots even at the trail head. Happy trails!

HikingGreat!Icy

Really enjoyed it. Some parts were a little icy but doable with hiking boots. Great views and not too challenging for the average hiker.

Great hike! The views at the peak were breath taking and this trail isn’t harsh on the body. I am very pleased with this hike and and excited to return for more!

HikingGreat!

Nice to combine with a few other trails to make a longer hike. Took the Cadillac Cliffs split for a fun scramble on the way, and down the bowl to the Ocean Path and out on the coastal rocks.

Very fun climb with a lot of beautiful views. We hiked all the way to the Beehive and back to the road, up the ocean trail (road walk) and back to the Gorham parking area. It was a fun couple of hours. The wind was very chilly and cut like knives but the views were absolutely worth it.

HikingGreat!

We started at the Gorham parking lot and did this trail clockwise. We’re fairly active hikers (2-3x/month in the Whites) and found this an easy climb. Definitely recommend timing your arrival at Thunderhole for the height of the show! Whole route took us 1.5 hours including stops for pictures, etc.

Great walk/hike. The first half of the loop is near the water and provided great views of the rocky shoreline. The views from the top of provide a spectacular aerial perspective of the first half.

Hiking

Beautiful hike with stunning views of both the ocean and the inland mountains. We hiked end of October and the fall colors were still impressive. Accessible trail but adventurous enough, and really varied. Perfect alternative if you're unsure about the more exposed Beehive trail.

Completed 10/17, great views after the rain with surprisingly no down branches. High recommend and dog friendly. Views are spectacular

Ocean path was alongside the road, which was disappointing. The Great Head Trail is a much better option to get up close ocean views away from the road. The Gorham Mountain Loop trail had beautiful views. Very rocky trail but pretty easy.
