Fairly quick trail that lets you see a variety of ocean, beach, rocks, forests and vistas. Nothing too difficult. We enjoyed going down to the oceans edge on the rocky side and just watching the waves crash on the shore.

It’s popular for a reason! Crowded but it’s pretty awesome to be hiking so close to the ocean all the way. Very easy trail and a lot of fun!

Views are amazing but this is a HEAVILY tracked trail along a main road. Mostly flat.

Breathtaking views of the ocean!

Great view for a moderate and short ascent. Nice ending near the beach. Loop style. High reward to effort ratio.

Never knew that “bar” harbor was a sand bar! If you’re in the area, you must do it once. It’s the most tourist hike second to Cadillac. The views and such are (3) stars but the act of walking across the bar is literally awe-some.

Really great hike. Not too long and really beautiful views!

Great trail on a clear day, but not your best choice if foggy/cloudy or recent rain. To find trailhead on Ocean Drive, look for the Beaver Dam on your right, and after the pond ends look for a scenic pull-off area on left side of the road. (Cross the road to find trailhead). Trail covers a good amount of vertical in a steady climb. Unfortunately, the first quarter of the climb is directly overlooking the smokestacks of Jackson Lab, and the load noises coming from the facility. About 1/2 way to summit, be careful to stay right for the summit - met several hikers who accidentally went left on Orange & Black trail and needed to turn back. This corner is a little confusing, but if trail starts to descend, you'll know you are accidentally on the orange & black. The upper 3rd of trail is steady ascent over exposed granite and this can be very slippery if there's been recent rain or in any amount of rain. Expect about 1 to 1.5hr going up, and only about 20-30min coming back down. Views at summit are awesome on a clear day, and yes you can peek over the top of the Precipice trail. Trail gives good opportunities to connect with others. Note that if you continue on Champlain South trail you'll quickly hit more crowds that are usually never present on Champlain North. If wondering whether to ascend on Champlain North of BeachCroft trails - we prefer the ocean views from Champlain North, but find Beach Croft to be an overall more interesting trail.

its a unique fun and short hike anyone can do

Great hike! The first half (going counter-clockwise) may be challenging for a novice as it can get steep with lots of steps but the views are amazing. I do recommend starting on this side though, that way you can just relax during the last 0.5 miles after the beach - which is super flat and easy. I hiked with my 8 yr old dog who is not used to hikes and she did great. I did have to help her on some of the boulders but she loved it, especially the beach!

Started at Otter Point and walked north with my husband and girls (7 and 10). Good walk, not too easy, with beautiful views the whole way to thunder hole. We walked there and back and that was perfect.

Nice views of the ocean, mountains and the beach. Some rocks to climb but fairly level trail.

The views make this trail.

The scenery is great, but whether or not one likes this trail entirely depends on what one is looking for: great for a little stroll (there are lots of parking lots along the road next to this trail) with nice ocean views. Path is entirely flat and smooth. However, this is of course no hiking trail whatsoever, but more of an ocean walking path (as in, leisurely strolling, not hiking).

this was a great trail but as the above mentioned it was more like a sidewalk trail some of it was in the woods but not all of it but this was still an awesome trail very easy. My wife and I did the trail and stopped at thunder hole and we actually saw a pod of whales in the distance by the buoys what a phenomenal sight it was. We were here around 12 or 12:30 and there were tons of people but not too many as to not be able to see. We had a blast. Afterward, we drove up Cadillac mountain and found a spot to see "bubble rock" take the time to explore the .5 mile hike up to bubble rock absolutely fabulous views take a picture of it as you are driving we missed out and it would have been awesome.

This is really more of a sidewalk than a trail. Not remotely what we expected. Cars and tour buses continually driving past, and packed with people even on an Wednesday post-Labor Day.

We hiked this trail and the beginning part was very slick. Several people had slipped on wet rock but if you know your ability, go slow and have sure footing you will be fine. Once you go out from the road you can split off and take the bowl trail or the beehive. Me and my partner took two different paths. I took the bowl and he took the beehive. The beehive was hard with rungs to hang and the bowl was fairly easy. When the trails met back together I actually took the backway up the beehive which was moderate and had some rock scrambling to the summit. The summit has breathtaking views. We then descended to the loop of the bowl and finished the trail that way.

As the other reviews “suggested” don’t go at high tide - impassable then. Short trail. Was foggy when we went so couldn’t see anything.

Beautiful trails !!

Very flat, easy trail with great views. We started from Otter Point and more parking there. We had our Labrador Retriever with us on a hot day and had to turn around once we got to the walkway with a brick wall on the ocean side because it cut off all breeze for the dog and he was dying of the heat. The trail is also only really one person wide so it is hard to pass people without the dog getting into their space.

well maintained trail with some rock scrambling, from the parking lot fairly vertical with many steps up to the top. Beautiful views. The trail down is fairly step also. Our Labrador Retriever loved the ocean swim at the rocky beach. From the beach it is a .5 mile flat logging type road back to the parking lot.

Incredible views. Easy walking trail

Gorgeous short hike during autumn!

Great short hike with rewarding views.

Nice overview of Bar Harbor. Hike is easy and relaxing. The water break is usually very crowded

Not a very exciting view, and entirely too many people.

We love this trail. Views at the top half are spectacular. This is why we come to Acadia. Mountains meet ocean. It is also just jaw dropping (to me, as one who is SO afraid of heights) to see all those brave souls - old and young - who have just completed the adjacent *vertical trails, at the top.
