Challenging hike due to steady incline, great workout. Trail hugs the side of the mountain so the views are unbelievable!

Great day hike with beautiful views. There is still snow on the top portion of the trail so trekking poles and possibly micro spikes will be a help. Pino is not as strenuous or long as La Luz but will give you a good workout.

Enjoyed the trail, great views. Didn’t find the springs...

Tough trail, lots of boulders but with nice breaks of relatively level sand. Lightly trafficked so you’re not passing or yielding to other hikers all the time

A truly challenging hike, not for the faint of heart! Great path to the 1955 Plane Wreckage memorial. Be aware that it can be a bit difficult to distinguish the trail at times.

A challenging way to hike to the tram.

Great hike! The high altitude makes the last bit of it difficult but it’s worth it.

Great views

LOVE THIS TRAIL!! Lovely trees and a nice view of the Sandia rock formations, plus a great view of the city once you're into the trail a ways. I'll definitely be coming back here!

Great hike! Lots of trees, more the farther in you go. Plenty of shade and a gorgeous view of the mountains ahead and the city behind.

Definitely a challenging but rewarding hike! A lot of climbing and steep elevation near the crash site, but worth it!

Wonderful/ beautiful hike, very steep towards the end of the hike. Continuing past the crash site will take you to the top of the La Luz. Would highly recommend.

This was hands down one of my favorite hikes that I have done in the Albuquerque area. The hike is challenging, but you feel so rewarded when completed. Looking up above and seeing the Tram was really surreal! The TWA plane crash stretches up the mountain at the end of the hike for quite a ways...It is very sad, but also very interesting. Take lots of snacks and water!

One of my favorites to take. it's a great workout.

Packed my microspikes but didn’t ever have to pull them out of my pack. Awesome hike. Insanely windy at the summit. Make sure you dress warm!

South facing trail that has a good incline. Definitely want to hike during the cooler months. Nice views at the top of trail.

Beautiful views. Great place to enjoy the sunset!

Great hike

Bring ur yak traxs! Lots of packed snow and ice to Williams lake. Then patches of snow/ice to the top of Wheeler. Happy New Year!

great hike and some good exercise accompanied with ace views. definitely a popular trail so don't come here for solitude but in all ways a nice way to spend two hours outdoors.

and for those so inclined the trail connects to others if you wanna keep trekking....

Excellent hike with beautiful scenery but definitely challenging. There are a lot of vertical and rocky climbs where the trail is moderately technical and just plain rough. Be sure to bring plenty of water and snacks for the extra energy to finish!

Great little trail run from Elena parking, 9.1 mike RT, last couple miles more power walking than running with 2800 ft elevation gain:)

Hammer time with a memorable finish. This trail has a great mix of open space, foothills, tight woodsy sections, great views and incredible location. It's an odd hike in that you never really summit anything but still get a solid hike. I kept a solid pace and I think it took me about 2 hours to reach the TWA crash. For reference, the memorial is just below the tram cables.

A challenging hike up to the TWA wreckage. Lots of water in the stream with some ice. Definitely cold in the shade, so bundle up if you are hiking in wintertime!

An easy start followed by increasingly narrow and difficult terrain, but worth the effort for the view and lack of congestion.

A great day hike, tough but not exhausting. Superb scenery all the way.

Fantastic experience! The hike from the trailhead to the lake is a pleasant stroll through the forest that includes streams and waterfalls. The trail is well marked and impeccably maintained. From the lake to the summit, one encounters seemingly endless switchbacks. The terrain varies from rock to dirt to snow and the intensity ranges from moderate to challenging. Once the saddle at the top of the climb is achieved, one is treated to an entirely new landscape of spectacular mountains on the other side. Several peaks are connected by saddles, so one can venture on after reaching Wheeler's summit.
