Hiked 12/7. This is a challenging uphill trail. We are experienced hikers from Boulder and we’re still out of breath! Must use spikes or some kind. You would not be able to use snowshoes. Totally worth the effort - we had the lake all to ourselves and it is just as gorgeous, probably more so, than the photos show. Recommend continuing up to spouting rock after visiting the lake - it’s about a 2 minute walk up to a beautiful waterfall. One thing that doesn’t get mentioned often about this trail is the canyon - it’s stunning, especially in the snow. This hike is definitely worth the hype!

A short little hike to see two arches for the price of one... it's unbelievable how big some of the arches are!

Once you have the pamphlet the trail is very easy to find. Recommend doing this hike for sunset, it was beautiful and not a very large crowd. Will need some flashlights for the route back as it can be easy to lose the trail.

My husband and I did this hike yesterday afternoon. We were surprised to see only two other cars at the trailhead when we arrived a around 12:30pm. We saw two hikers on the way to the lake and then had lake/waterfall to ourselves. I thought for sure it would be crowded and was happy to be wrong. The trail was snow packed. Visually, it looked like a winter-wonderland. The trees were lightly dusted in snow. We both had our yaktraks on and I was thankful for them multiple times throughout the hike. Definitely some slippery spots, especially on the way back down.

I won’t call this a hike, more like a quick trail to view these stunning arches! Perfect place to start and be sure to head over to Windows.

Love this hike! Did it in 1.5 hours with crampons - highly suggest them! There were a couple people with just boots who made it, but it looked difficult. Had the lake to ourselves :)

Great sunrise spot. The glow of the sun on the arch is beautiful. The view of canyons behind the arch is also lovely. The trail is very short and takes less than 20 minutes to walk to the arch and easy to follow. Going in mid November was great to miss the crowds but there was still about 10 of us at the arch for sunrise

What a sunset spot! You have to check out this arch close up it is really something. Walk isn’t too tough and trail is easy to follow with trail markers along the way. Toke us about 40 minutes to the top and 30 mins on way down. Was pretty busy even in mid November but a most do if in arches. Plenty of parking and toilets at the trailhead.

Great Hike. It’s worth the climb to the top. Be careful there are some slick spots. We did this as a family. 15 & 13 yr olds handled it well.

One of the most popular hikes in the park and there is a reason. It’s a pretty high elevation gain over the 1.5 miles so take your time as you are going up. Plenty of places to stop and rest along the way. Once you are almost to the top there is a pretty small ledge that you walk around so those with heights might have some issues. Once you make it it is all worth it. The view is amazing and it is as spectacular as all the pictures you see of it. Make sure you take water and headlamps if there is any chance you are coming down in the dark. Kids loved it!

Crampons // spikes are a must. They will allow you to actually enjoy it. After the bottom part it’s mostly pure ice and snow. The lake looks super unique with all the icicles hanging down where the water flows.

One of the most amazing views is at sunrise. Definitely worth getting up early for!

Hiked this trail in September to see the sunrise. It was one of the most spectacular places to hike! Would rate it as a moderate one, however we got to the parking lot at 6:40 and wanted make it to the top until the sunrise, so we had to do it really fast. It took us about 20 minutes in a very fast pace, which made hike quite difficult. If you are in no rush, then it can be very enjoyable experience. Would recommend doing it before sunrise because, first - it is not crowded and second - not hot at all. We were coming down around 9 am and it was already very hot, a lot of people just turned around on half way because of that and all that was in end of September.

It long hike but wrath it amazing look step is different not go with stoker please walk is fine but be peasant you cane make we love it going is little bet change but back it good must go

Nice trail .05 mil look amazing

Beautiful sunset and night photography opportunities. You can walk behind the arch and then to a lower level to avoid a lot of the tourists.

Some steep inclines on the final stretch but worth it. We did it with kids 3, 6 and 8, and they enjoyed the trail

Wonderful hike not too bad, buy at this time of the year I would totally recommend to use spikes, there is plenty of ice at the top...

Great short hike! There’s still some ice closer to the top so spikes are recommended. Spouting Rock was great little spur from the main trail but well worth it.

So, yeah, this hike is brutal if you are even remotely out of shape. Even my friend who is in shape struggled. But the view is SO WORTH IT. Don’t give up. I’m a beginning hiker who was rather sedentary up until a couple weeks ago when I moved here to Colorado, and I made it up to the top with my husband and friend in 1 hour and 20 minutes. Took just a touch over an hour to get back down. This time of year is gorgeous because there’s just the right amount is snow and ice. Bring your ice cleats or you will be sorry after bridge 4.

I've completed this a few times!!! I love it, beautiful views and decent hike, despite the elevation change.
